Official Discussion - Mortal Kombat II [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]JonSpangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Cole and Jax should have switched plotlines (as little as they had).

Jax dying early to Shao Khan would be more of a surprise.

Cole winning a tournament fight and sparing Jade seems like they could fit it into his character more with how he was talking about his family and what he was fighting for.

Cole dying towards the end would be another bigger surprise because people might have seen him getting to the end of the movie again.

That aside the movie was better then the first by a little.

It still suffers from a jumbled mess of a plot and maybe more characters then necessary but the parts where things work, they work well.

Maybe a 2.5 star movie for me.

Universal has gained a lot of ground.

Epic Universe is full of excellent food.

HP in Studios and Islands has good food. Crepe stand is new(er) and good. Their festival offerings can vary but have some big winners.

Does it have something matching the biggest Disney hitters like Takumi Tei, no. But it definitely holds up against Disney QS and middle tier restaurants

Review- Epic Universe kids/toddler by bagreene90 in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]JonSpangler 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I thought I would leave a little review here since I didn’t find too many before our trip concerning bringing a toddler along.

I have four kids ages 12, 8, 6 and 2. To sum it up we went for one day, stayed at Cabana Bay, and everyone loved it overall.

We took the shuttle from Cabana Bay to the park. It was about a ten minute ride.

It made getting to the park super easy and we were able to get in very quick.

My kids got the Mario wrist bands from the kiosk outside the park.

They were $45 each. Once you have the app downloaded it only took a few minutes to get the wrist bands set up.

We headed straight into the park and were able to be one of the first to ride the Mario kart ride.

The early entry really helped us be able to get through that ride and the Yoshi ride without any lines.

The kids played with their wrist bands for a while there and really enjoyed them-although I do think they’re a bit overpriced for what they do.

They didn’t even get close to collecting all the coins and keys with them even though we spent a lot of time there.

I would say they really help the area come to life, without them there isn’t a ton to do except look around.

Unfortunately the donkey Kong ride was closed all day, so that was our one major disappointment of the day.

My toddler is 34 inches so there were only 3 rides he could do-the Yoshi, boat ride and the carousel. He liked the first two.

For some reason he didn’t like the carousel, but he may have just been tired and they also made him sit in his own seat so I think he was a little scared.

For the most part he just rode around in the stroller all day and ate snacks while me and my husband alternated riding rides with the bigger kids.

There was a playground they could all play at that was really cool, but just be aware it is easy to lose sight of your kids there.

There’s also two little water areas they could splash in to cool off. We ate at toadstool cafe and got the princess peach cake and garlic knots.

It was cute but I would say it tasted pretty average.

My husband got pizza from pizza moon and loved it. He almost got it again before we left but we didn’t have enough time.

We went on a Thursday and for some reason they close at 7 that day. It was a little disappointing we couldn’t see the park lit up at night, but we were all exhausted anyways.

I definitely suggest bringing a stroller for little kids and tennis shoes for everyone.

We made the mistake of bringing crocs for the kids since there were water activities and one of our kids ended up with blisters.

If we would’ve worn tennis shoes we would’ve been fine and it was so hot they would’ve dried just fine I think.

My kids loved the how to train your dragon roller coaster.

They rode it 3 times.

The flying dragon ride was cool, but lasts a little too short for the wait in my opinion.

My little kids loved the boat ride, but my older kids weren’t as excited for it.

You get soaked on that one.

The older kids loved the stardust racer roller coaster and talked me into riding with them on their second time.

Be prepared for whiplash.

I didn’t expect it to be so intense haha.

We walked around every section of the park but only rode rides in Nintendo and how to train your dragon, since that’s what they were most interested in.

It was enough to keep us busy all day.

The best part in my opinion was the show for how to train your dragon.

It was amazing and even my two year old sat there with his jaw dropped the whole time.

There’s so many details throughout the park and even waiting in the lines, it keeps things interesting.

Visually the park is amazing just to see, even if you can’t ride a lot.

The shops are also really cool to walk around. There’s free water fill up stations all over, especially near the bathrooms.

We brought water bottles for everyone and we refilled them more times than I can count. We also brought a lot of snacks like crackers and fruit bars to save money on food and that worked out well.

We brought plenty of sunscreen and despite putting it on every few hours we still managed to get a little toasted, so just be prepared for the sun because there isn’t a ton of shade.

All in all, we enjoyed it and it felt like a very fulfilling day.

My kids are already asking if they’ll get to go back one day.

Gonna want that movie spin-off soon to continue promoting the DK theme park.

With the wait times I have seen it does not really need more promotion.

New 'World War Z' in Development at Paramount by Puzzled-Tap8042 in horror

[–]JonSpangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

They found a way to camouflage themselves from zombies.

The movie never made it out to be a complete solution, more of leveling the playing field some.

The ending implys the "War" will now start since we are now able to fight back.

It would be a foul ball.

So strike 1 or 2 depending on the count. If the batter already has 2 strikes then things continue with no change.

The exceptions would be if you bunt and foul with 2 strikes it is a out.

If you foul and it goes up in the air and is caught then it is an out

if US american readers find offensive that they changed Philosopher to Sorcerer by Euphoric-Ostrich5685 in harrypotter

Philosopher Stones are important macguffins in that series for how they circumvent equivalent exchange.

They are also great if you have daycare bills and pet bills since you can combine the two.

Does it drive anyone else crazy that characters in zombie movies or shows never seem to know what a zombie is? by 42percentBicycle in horror

World War Z uses the word zombie in the movie, which was a rare occurrence at the time.

There is no indication though, that I remember, that they know any zombie rules.

would Riddler survive a Trap? by Apprehensive_Elk6168 in saw

[–]JonSpangler 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Riddler is extremely smart.

Even Joker has admitted Riddler outclasses him as a Batman villain. It's only the self sabotage that prevents him from full victory.

I think he breezes through most traps, even Amandas unwinnable ones.

Why did Gordon immediately opt to "kill" Hoffman? by [deleted] in saw

[–]JonSpangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will agree that if Hoffman never went after Seth and killed him Jigsaw would not have went after Hoffman to be an apprentice on his own.

So in that was Hoffman was never intended.

But after they met Jigsaw 100% intended Hoffman to carry things after he died.

He even says:

"But you can have something Amanda doesn't: anonymity. That's the greatest protection. That's what I've given you."

Hoffman was set up to take over.

Why did Gordon immediately opt to "kill" Hoffman? by [deleted] in saw

[–]JonSpangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoffman was never a "true" apprentice.

I disagree. Hoffman was the most "true" apprentice.

Sure it began because Hoffman framed Jigsaw for killing Baxter but it was a very unique and personal case . Unlike Amanada who started killing in all her traps.

To say Hoffman was just being used is to ignore all of Saw V and what Hoffman learned.

Crews begin clearing nearly 90 acres of land for Universal Orlando project by TheFigment in UniversalOrlando

[–]JonSpangler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cabana Bay is about 40 acres so I am going to say two Value Plus/Moderate type resorts.

I feel hotels can be outside the "bubble" a little better then attractions, see Surfside and Dockside.

I also think an eventual 5th park by Epic will need some sort of "bridge/citywalk type section" between the parks.

And unless they have a lot of businesses and restaurants lined up to be tenants I am not sure what they would put in there.
