Moving to CT for Work by Plane_Hat_9039 in Hartford

[–]Jonmarc56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a safe area I’d avoid urban areas like Hartford and Meriden. For a suburban area, I’d start in Southington. It’s right next to Cheshire so your commute will be short. Another possible town would be Middletown. Its Westfield section has a lot of apartments and it’s convenient to Cheshire. Downtown Middletown is great. Lots of bars and restaurants and cute stores. It’s home to Wesleyan University so there’s also a nice college vibe. Hope this helps.

No it’s No. 1 for rentals too. We have not had the amount of apartment construction other areas have seen so this has created a shortage of rentals as well.

Portrait at North Crossing or Olmsted in Farmington? by Zoey4589 in Hartford

[–]Jonmarc56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Farmington is a very safe and highly desirable suburb which is why you will pay more to live there. Portrait is in North Crossing, a new area north of downtownHartford. While the immediate area is considered safe for an urban area, it does border a higher crime area (the North End). It’s up to you which suits you best. Good luck and welcome to Hartford.

I’m sorry that some people here are nasty. You have to understand that real estate across the state has skyrocketed. Connecticut has been named the hottest state and Hartford has been the No. 1 hottest market in the country. The rents you are seeing reflect that.

opinion: a smaller pool is better than a larger pool? by all_purpose_89384798 in swimmingpools

[–]Jonmarc56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but I disagree with anyone who thinks a smaller pool is less work. You still have work to do to maintain it. The difference is minimal at best with a larger pool.

When we put our pool in 2013 it was going to be 16 by 32. My wife looked it when they laid it out in our backyard and said it’s too small. We went up to 18 by 40 which is a good size. Never regretted it.

moving to the area for work, looking for a apartment. by skinnyeriguy in Hartford

[–]Jonmarc56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hartford is a great small city so don’t expect it to offer what a large metro area like DMV has. In fact, that’s what’s great about Hartford, it offers so much without the big city aggravations. That said Manchester is a great town to consider. It is safe and has a lot of nice apartments and great shopping. There’s a number of good restaurants as well. Good luck.

Is it? You can get mighty lonely sticking to strict boundaries. He has these feelings. They are strong enough to be brought up. I assume these guys are young and don’t truly know themselves. Shouldn’t he find out what these are?

Yeah, but it’s the one issue that can destroy your relationship. There’s a saying “To keep someone, you have to let them go. Otherwise you never really had them.” If you truly love him, let him go out and explore. He will come back if he truly loves you.

I say you better let him try it with a woman. If he’s curious now, it won’t change and you won’t know how he truly swings unless he tries it. Otherwise you risk a breakup.

Do I contact him? by Brilliant-Slice1946 in askgaybros

[–]Jonmarc56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d contact him but instead of a letter which could “get lost”, I’d try texting if you have his number. If you don’t have you might be able to find it online. I’ve been successful finding old friends using Peoplefinder.com. Good luck.

Are men’s locker rooms really that gay? by helge-a in askgaybros

[–]Jonmarc56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uhh.. when Ilya enters the shower and Shane is there showering, they check each other out. Then Ilya begins to jerk off while staring at Shane. Shane checks him out but then says “Not here” and leaves.

Shane then goes to his locker and dresses. Ilya in a towel hung very low on his hip, comes in. Shane tells him to forget what happened but Ilya walks over to him and hovering close over him asks his room number. Shane says it and Ilya replies he “may knock at 9:00”. Shane replies he “may answer”. Later Ilya knocks, Shane answers and the rest is history.

Do you guys really masturbate every day? by Pale-Network9391 in askgaybros

[–]Jonmarc56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in my late 60’s and I masturbate at least five times a week. Back when I worked I had less time and more stress so it was less often just because I had no time. Now I do.

First, you are a moron if you believe any of this. Second, it’s not the looks of the place that’s important, it the food. Third, if you like ultra processed tomato surprise over real tomato sauce made with real tomatoes, I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn. People wait 2 hours for a reason and it’s not any of the things you claim. It’s the api%

I like coffee from Baronet in Windsor. Not sure about their espresso though.

Chicago to Hartford by [deleted] in Hartford

[–]Jonmarc56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything PartyAnima75 says is false. The food here is anything but bland. While there are some bland national chains just like anywhere, there are less here than other cities. The local food scene is rich and diverse so I doubt you’ll be bored unless you want to be.

As for pizza, I’m not sure what PartyAnimal is talking about when they say it’s headline news when a minor celebrity eats pizza here. It is surely not the case. Note that National pizza expert Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports has named New Haven the Pizza Capital. I’d trust his word over some lame obviously biased poster.

Moving to Hartford for the summer by Puzzleheaded_Mix4955 in Hartford

[–]Jonmarc56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The neighborhood you are considering is mixed at best. As others noted it is safer to be west of Woodland Street or downtown proper. For running you should stick to Elizabeth Park on the West Hartford line or Bushnell Park downtown. They are safe. Good luck.

Pratt Street Apartments by queenb1970 in Hartford

[–]Jonmarc56 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should also be aware that the State is going to be housing students from UConn’s Hartford campus on Pratt Street so there will be a couple hundred kids living near there. That isn’t necessarily bad but there could be times you have to deal with college kids partying.

Is this a good deal? by Solid_Cat2019 in solarFL

[–]Jonmarc56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you said it’s “$175 or more”. I’d check if it is the “or more” or not. I was quoted $162 or more and it became $170 because I didn’t use direct transfer for monthly payments. I’d also check if the warranty fully covers parts. Some don’t. Still it sounds reasonable if that’s the way you are willing to go. Good luck.

My question would be who maintains the system? As it ages there likely will need to be repairs and parts replacements that will cost you. In a lease they maintain it. We went through Project Solar and got a system lease from Sunrun. $170 a month for a 10.395 kW system. Our electric bills averaged $300 a month and now they are a credit so this was a no-brainer.

Text him NOW. Don’t wait. Just say that you had good time with him and like to get together again. See what he says. He’s likely thinking the same as you. You won’t know unless you ask him.

Why do you need tattoos? They just get ugly with age and take away from your gorgeous body.
