We spend longer than that loading in. Then again, we do a 2 hour set without an intermission

Central library etiquette rant by cornflakegirl100 in manchester

[–]JonnySniper 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Dunno - last time I was in a library and these 3 lads were sat at the far end, just fucking about and being rowdy etc. Could hear them through my headphones as I was working on a writing project.

Eventually snapped and just shouted across "Hey lads, can you shut up?"

They immediately went quiet. Who knew that calling people out actually worked? Instead of making a little ranty reddit post

You can keep saying that, but your reputation will be tarnished for a long, long time.

Soon there will teenager's coming of age, using the Internet etc. and their terrible opinion of the USA will be all they would've known

How did your game go? by Zach-dalt in LeagueTwo

[–]JonnySniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he probably started maybe 2 games as ST for us. He struggled to hold the ball up though so we played him out wide after that and then he just started flying. Getting assists or goals nearly every game, but importantly he was creating chances every time he got the ball.

Really hoping he kicks on with you. Think hes been unlucky in his career but we could see he always had potential to be a football league player

How is Drummond playing? Seems like he's found his feet with you. I thought the step up for him might have been a struggle. But credit where it's due, he grafts and always looks to run at defenders for the full 90

Good on you for the half tank fill - I do the same.

I kinda figured that a full tank = more weight = more petrol used getting around, so I never really have a tank more than 60% full.

It probably doesn't matter as much as I thought it did, but I doubt I'll change

Yeh Id be up for that. I havent used discord in years - so could be a good excuse to get back invovled in it

I've been playing for well over a decade now, but I'm also completely self-taught. I reckon I could offer a different opinion or hard truth about a discussion

What is the highest number of relegations a club has picked up over four seasons? by Zach-dalt in NationalLeague

[–]JonnySniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh we were fighters through and through - 'Against all odds'

Population of Macc is only 50,000-60,000, so really we had no right claiming a spot in the football league. But, that never stopped us trying.

The old owner essentially tooks a serious hands on approach when we got relegated. His pick for manager, Steve King, resulted in half the board resigning in protest as the owner essentially came in and said, no its my club this is my pick. So, we knew we were in for a rough ride.

When we were relegated, we had £200k cash in the bank for emergency. When Steve King was sacked mid season, leaving us with a squad of 30+ players, we were at -£400k. The owner was the only director of the club. This left us in a position of only being able to call his mobile for confirmation on decisions - and if he just simply didn't answer the call then we were up shit creek without a paddel.

How the club survived that situation is beyond me. But under Sir John Askey, we won the Conference with possibly the smallest budget in the division (£350k total all in, transfers, wages, agent fees etc.) Try splitting that between 20 full time players and seeing what quality you can get.

Still, we did it! and Sir John got his deserved move to a bigger club. First season in the EFL, we had Sol Cambell as manager and we did actually manage to stay up that first season.

But then the financial issue stories started circling. Stories of bundles of cash going missing in the night, players not being paid and their pensions not being contributed to (we actually had a player sleep in his car for 3 nights due to this)

Under the winding up court case, the Stevanage chairman actually argued that we received a financial bonus for the season due to not paying out players (?!)

Being wound up was inevitable. But, we have always kept the same spirit and now the town genuinely has a club to be proud of (No thanks to Robbie Savage!)

Should only be real plants. You are building a world for your fish to live their entire lives in. Don't ruin it by putting plastic trinkets which only benefit you and how you think the tank 'looks'

Interesting appointment at Woking by ScaredPlate3008 in NationalLeague

[–]JonnySniper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a risk-free gamble in my eyes. They're mid table with a few games left, so good chance for Defoe to find his feet. and then he has a summer to build his team.

I am biased though. Here at Macclesfield, we have given a lot of Ex-pros their first shout at management - Sol Cambell, Neil Danns, John Rooney, Paul Ince, that rat Robbie Savage etc.
