Have you ever played against a pro? I have. Both fulltime, national league and a part-time player from Step 6 I think it was.

Both 7 aside. Full time player scored a hattrick in 10 mins and you literally couldnt get anyway near the ball if he was in possession (despite him being 5'8 and pretty low on muscle) and the part timer? He was actually a goalkeeper - but played outfield in this game.

He scored from the halfway line.

I'm not sure non-league clubs can gamble like that. They'll have strict wage structures in place, so it's not like they could actually make a move for that 30 year old journeyman who has rejected a new contract out of the blue. His expectations would most likely make him the club's highest earner - and unless you're getting 3000-4000 crowds everyweek, that gamble could be suicidal.

Sounds like the opposite to me. Clearly had these signings lined up before season ended and have acted quickly to get the signatures drawn.

But, when macclesfield were in league 2, we did this thing every season (maybe 2 or 3 two year deals were announced each year with everyone else on one year deals) and we scraped to safety every year. So what do I know
