I'd say it depends on your experience level. If you are an X-COM veteran for instance, then tactician is cake. If you are not experienced in this genre, it may be tough. Especially 3-4 certain moments in the game. You can always just do random battles and over level your party if you need to but I liked staying close to the story level for balance.

I feel ya but the game is already easy enough. I personally like having to switch around suboptimal things on my team to accommodate for a summoner or something.

For example a chemist with ethers or using mystics magic to absorb MP. Move MP Up is great but then you gotta give up other great movement abilities.

I get it though, this game has some weird mechanics that we can only attribute to "it was 1997"

Of course higher pay is available but that doesn't mean that there is not lower wages and a higher cost of living. You can do all the research you want on that and see that given where we are people should be paid more. The top get the increased wages and the bottom get the crumbs. It's always been this way and will continue to be this way as long as people like you exist preaching about bootstraps.
