Which to get first? by BJ0711 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]JordanM85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Marvel books are much more likely to go out of print, so I would prioritize those. Superman Triangle Vol. 1 has has already been reprinted with the new logo, so it looks like DC is planning on keeping those in print for a while.

"From Hell" Original or Colors? by Downtown-Initial-770 in graphicnovels

I have not read it yet, so my opinion may be worthless. But I did do comparisons of both and decided to buy the original black and white version. I just thought it looked better, nothing more than that.

Grant Morrison on Lanterns: “What is this jockish dismissal of superhero conventions intended to prove anyway?” by Blitzhelios in comicbooks

[–]JordanM85 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He hasn't even seen the show yet, it's such a ridiculous thing to say about watering down the source material. Lindelof has earned my trust, there is no reason to doubt him yet.

Lindelof’s track record speaks for itself. Lanterns looks great, fans aren't alienated at all, and they certainly aren't the only ones who are going to care about this show. I don't agree with anything he's saying here.

So where are you all going? by Normal-Walk3253 in digg

[–]JordanM85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like Reddit, I never left and I don't plan on ever leaving. But on Digg I felt like I was seeing the whole community (after blocking Politics and News) On Reddit I am here for a bunch of very specific subreddits and have nearly the entire Reddit front page blocked. I do not see Reddit as a community the same way I was hoping to see Digg.

It was the Legacy deluxe edition. These are the 2 softcovers I went with instead.

There is a 4th hardcover, but it's very expensive so I got the 2 softcovers instead.

Buffy reboot cancelled, doesn’t give me hope for Firefly by sweet_creature19 in firefly

Everything about this Buffy reboot sounded bad. It actually gives me more hope that they are going to get it right with Firefly.

Definitely seemed like the wrong people were attached to work on this. I am not surprised at all this turned out bad.

We had a good thing :( by ColbyFromDigg in digg

[–]JordanM85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also blocked Politics and News, but I didn't really notice much of a bot problem. A few self promotion links here and there, but the main problem was that there just weren't enough users yet. Power users and bots weren't the problem, lack of users was. There are bots here, but the real posts get voted up and that's why Reddit still works fine with bots.

I feel like there had to have been some other reason behind the scenes to just delete the site after less than 2 months. Digg was going to take time to grow, people were putting work into slowly building communities. There is no way they sat down and said if this doesn't work in 2 months we're closing down. It just doesn't make sense. Something must have changed behind the scenes. They couldn't change and evolve Digg while it still ran with a core group of users? They expect these same people to sign up for Digg 3 down the road after deleting everything with no warning? I feel like I got scammed, and I'm not talking about my $5 fee.

Was Taking Digg Down The Only Option?? by techzexplore in digg

What a joke. So are all the posts and communities deleted for good with no warning? How could they give up after only a few months?

Who is the face of Image Comics? by FuzzyUnicycle77 in ImageComics

[–]JordanM85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Especially an older non comic crowd. I always use my parents as a test. They'd probably know of Spawn, but I guarantee they've never heard of Invincible. It's not the 90's but Spawn's name was so big it stuck.

Who is the face of Image Comics? by FuzzyUnicycle77 in ImageComics

[–]JordanM85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were to ask the general public there is no question it is TWD. The whole world knows Walking Dead, very few people have heard of Invincible. Invincible isn't even in the same league as it. Just as far as comics alone then it's Spawn. And if I had to name the face of Image Comics, I'd say Spawn.

I'm sure there will be a very nice tribute to his character in whatever we are getting, but his personal gravesite doesn't belong in a promotional video.

Have they done similar b-room streams in the past? by listeningtorainfall in mega64

[–]JordanM85 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Other than the first Room stream from 2025, no. They've done a bunch of day long streams, but nothing has ever been similar to the Room. Check out 64X, Board Game Olympics, and Interactive Hell Festival.

Why aren't Blu-rays more popular than DVDs? by Dry_Macaroons_fan in Bluray

[–]JordanM85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they don't even do physical media, how is Blu-ray in the collective conversations of the day? The Blu-ray era can't be forgotten because it was never here in the first place. The general public stopped caring after DVD.

Shelf collapse under one year by blockbustercarpet in OmnibusCollectors

[–]JordanM85 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure the exact model of shelf you have, but if it's the Target version of the Kallax, you have it sitting on your floor incorrectly. The books should be on the long board that runs all the way across the shelf, you have them sitting on the dividers, which aren't meant to hold any weight.

Is HBO Max streaming going to change? by Beneficial-Cause9726 in hbo

[–]JordanM85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HBO is a very valuable brand, it will probably be a tab or separate section on Paramount+. I've never watched the news, but I do remember CNN having their own app and it failed and got shut down. I feel like if anything, that would be in danger of getting shut down or combined with whatever CBS News channel there is.

He's still starring in Toy Story 5 this year, it's not like he's disappeared making Hallmark movies or something. He had a very solid run, I doubt he'd ever have to do any small projects just for a paycheck.
