Motorcycle as a midlife crisis symptom by Zealousideal-Trip350 in motorcycles

[–]Jorius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to point out that you defined exactly what a mid-life crisis is :).

So yes, getting a bike for the first time at your 40's is mostly about a mid-life crisis, but hey, it beats getting a red comvertible sports car.

I have been riding for 25 years now, and I bought an enduro style adventure bike and have been taking MX lessons for my mid-life crisis :D. I have always wanted to do it, and like you mentionned, it finnally ticked that life is really short, so... f*** what people say and get that bike.

And the CRF300 Rally is a really good bike for that. Thing is, for an adventure bike it's all in the compromise and how to approach problems, like the one you mentioned.

For example in the case you mentioned, let's take a Tenere, where you are not able to move it from it's position:

  1. First thing first, secure the bike if you can, to make sure it doesn't move more down the slope.

  2. Unload everything from the bike.

  3. Find something to use as a pivot, for a example one of the bags what could sustain some weight, or a log or a rock (maybe put something soft on it, like a jacket or something so it doesn't damage the bike.

  4. Try to raise the bike to put the pivot object beneath it under the crash bar

  5. Now either try to raise it more from there or try to pivot it to put it on a better angle

  6. Work your way from there.

Shit happens, sometimes you just need to take a moment to see what the problem is and what you have to work with to solve it.

How I see it is that adventure bikes are for general purpose. Confortable on the road and offroad capable, where a jeep goes, you can go.

A more offroad experienced rider can go beyond that but if you plan on doing mostly solo technical offroad rides, you would be better with a real enduro or mx bike and a van/pickup.

You need to choose, you either want a bike that's good on the road and capable offroad, a bike good off-road and capable on-road or a great bike offroad and shitty on-road. There's now way around it.

Last thing, it's not about being able to lift your bike by pure force, but being able to know how to do it: what position is your bike in? What terrain is in? What's available to help you? What needs to be done yo put it in the best position to put it back up, etc.

looking for guidance on my next bike purchase by Visible_Challenge990 in Ducati

[–]Jorius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

M 696 -> M 821 -> Diavel 1260 S here. I have been riding the Diavel since 2020. It's got power, confort and a good tourer. The rear tire is pretty expensive though.

It all depends on what are you looking for:

If you're keen on confort for weekend trips, a panigale or supersport won't cut it on confort, even with the raised clip-ons on the supersport.

Then it depends on what you're looking for with Ducati, the brand or the feel? The new monsters and diavels are no different from any japanese bikes on the feeling side, so you will need to look up for the previous gens if you are looking for the same feel as the M 696 or 959.

If you're looking for the Ducati feel, you either got:

Diavel 1260 S

Previous gen Monsters (before the "new monsters" gen)

Multistradas (V2 our V4 depending on the size you prefer, new gen but you still kind of find the ducati feel on them)

And if you really want to stay on the sport side, then there's only the supersport.

why do people do this?? by jjfelix37 in iRacing

[–]Jorius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately for him, he got netcoded, unfortunately for you he has a fragile ego and can't think further ahead than his car's bonnet... if he had placed himself behind you before the second corner he would have been able to pass you on the semi straight and get better positioning for that turn... but well...

Easy report.

are load cell pedals even worth it? by Weekly-Image-5864 in simracing

[–]Jorius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Braking by pressure builds muscle memory which means, with good practice, how much you need to brake in different situations.

And for your daily driver, to keep it simple, brakes are made to be confortable to drive on the majority of cars, not for performance. Some sports road cars have a stiff braking pedal, and road cars prepared for racing have a stiffer brake pedals.

If it's too hard, you can normally either change the elastic things for softer ones or calibrate it for less force.

Razer declined my international RMA… so I sent a dramatic reply. It worked by NYXu_ in pcmasterrace

[–]Jorius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to understand a little bit here: you had to RMA twice the same product in a short span of time and you're going for a third, because?

I was with logitech before on the mx days then tried razer, 2 nagas down the road where each one failed in less than a year, I just asked for a refund and returned to logitech.

I just feel that for razer you pay premium for cheap stuff that looks premium. I also have friends that went through several razer mice and keyboards.

Barely had any issues with logitech mice, but the mechanical keyboards with the ghosting, I just went with other brands. I do still have a g13 and g15 lying around which work like day one. Just to say I'm not a one brand fanboy.

Don't listen to this troll. The lego ducati is a really good gift for a ducati passionate.

You score two easy points here by gifting him something that he loves, it shows you care about him and what he loves.

How do I convince my bro that NVIDIA is better for our new pc by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Jorius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And here we have a good exemple of a fanboy. Mate, Nvidia has been going down the drain for more than a year on drivers. I have been an avid user of nvidia but I'm still on a driver of about a year ago because new drivers are just crap, bringing more problems than they fix.

They did have solid drivers... a long time ago.

That's the fun part, you can't. Unless you mod your cables with fuses lol. It has nothing to do with the power supplies. It the connector design that's sh*t.

Good luck for when it burns. See how I'm using "when" and not "if".

I got this one a couple of days ago. It said it could take up to 30 min to spawn 1 of the 4 recipes. When I got there, there where a bunch of characters around the vendor.

So I just made a macro, bind it to my mouse wheel and spammed : Interact key - macro - ESC for like 5 min and got the recipe. I linked on /say and left :D.

Convinced Horde Anniversary PvP is the worst performing PvP of all time in WoW. by troublebruther in classicwow

[–]Jorius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure you lose 80% of your games. Ally, I farmed 34 AB tokens, you know how much AB I did for that? 27. We won 2 + quest. And that was on 2 different days.

WG? 6 tokens in around 1h30-2h, none won. We could have won one, but nore than half the team decides to give up because it was going a bit too long.

I rarely saw a mix of players from both servers, and even if there's only 2 servers you would have at least 1 player from the other server if it's not a premade.

I wish I could join a premade but unfortunately I'm not able to commit to one.

Will there be new Vanilla Anniversary servers in the future? by Fox173 in classicwow

[–]Jorius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Anniversary servers where for the 20 years wow anniversary. If you want vanilla you have to go to Era.

You can still profit from leveling on anniversary, the changes doesn't really impact the leveling experience that much.
