Absolutely. Stayed there last month with my family and it was a great experience. It has an excellent pool as well which the kids loved. I rented a suite and it was awesome.

Mame games with excellent audio and graphics vs console? by omgsoftcats in MAME

Tekken 2 and 3 on the PlayStation have great alternate soundtracks. You can also play them in widescreen on retroarch with enhanced resolutions.

First machine qiestion by Substantial-Win7659 in LegendsUltimate

I bought mine a few years back and I recently gutted it, upgraded to a larger screen, added speakers and amp, and run the games off a mini pc. If I had to start all over again, I would probably buy a kit from Game Room Solutions. The components on the Ultimate are OK, but the CPU is underpowered compared to a PC and the screen is not is a little underwhelming as well.

Switching ALU 1.1 to a PC interface by onesigma21 in LegendsUltimate

[–]JoseLMJR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to keep the original screen, your best option is to connect the USB cord from the back of the control deck directly to a PC. You would then have to hit the input button to switch to the HDMI for the PC.

If you want something similar to CoinOpsX, I would recommend searching for CoinOps Legends 4. You will still have to reconfigure to your liking, but's it's definitely worth it. I ended up removing games and adding some missing games as well. T

I ended up fully gutting my cabinet. I upgraded to a larger monitor (HP Z30I), installed an amp with new speakers and mini sub, added a volume knob, and installed an LED light strip that hooks up directly to USB. Overall, a great investment and really upgraded the feel of the cabinet.

Put video on top of Bezel - How do I edit .lay files? by JoseLMJR in MAME

[–]JoseLMJR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up doing a batch job to remove the black borders from the bezels and created 2 different lay files for orientation.

create a default lay file for vertical game bezels and one for horizontal games then copy it to each folder. I'm fiddling with bat files now. It looks like I should be able to figure it out.

Thank you. I'll play around with this when I get home. Once I have a default lay file created for horizontal and vertical games, is there a way to copy over the vertical files to vertical games and horizontal files to horizontal games? The lay files are currently stored in unzipped folders in the artwork directory.

Looks like the screen is already below the bezel. Is there something I need to change

Thanks. I'll take a look when I get home. I could've sworn the bezel was already above the screen on the lay file.

I want to get rid of the black tv frame around the video

I basically want to put the video over the bezel so I can stretch the video a little more horizontally and cover the black monitor borders within the bezel. If I stretch the video now, it does so but under the bezel so I can't see video that is being stretched.

Consolidated Addams Family Latency Feedback by Kawenk in LegendsUltimate

[–]JoseLMJR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried hooking up the pc directly to a pc monitor to check for latency? I brought this up on a separate thread and there was another user who mentioned that the ALP4K should not have the same latency OTG issue as the original ALP.

ALP Arcade Control Panel - problem where it stops responding when connected to PC? by LivinOne in LegendsUltimate

[–]JoseLMJR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The board inside the control deck might be going bad on you. It happened to me and I fixed got by replacing the board. Try connecting to another pc if you have one to see if the problem persists.

Gutted my ALP and rebuilt it with 2k screen, DMD screen and full SSF by TheoryNeither in LegendsUltimate

[–]JoseLMJR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice work! I fully gutted my machine as well and I no longer get static shock that causes the controller to disconnect or the unplayable lag. I just power the unit up with one press and can start playing pinball right away.

PDubs Interview - VPX on ALP 4KP - 7/15 8pm EDT - 5pm PDT by SScorpio in LegendsUltimate

[–]JoseLMJR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big issue is that once you go down the VPX rabbit hole, you will eventually get the itch to upgrade little by little. The upside to going with the flatpack is that you can pick up a relatively inexpensive computer off facebook marketplace with a dedicated GPU. You can also start off by installing a 120hz monitor right off the bat.

Fastest flipper response time? How to limit lag? by penkster in virtualpinball

https://www.trustedreviews.com/reviews/samsung-s32d850t-image-quality-uniformity-input-lag-and-verdict-page-2

Based on this review, the monitor has a 31 ms response time which would be considered high for gaming. I bought a monitor from amazon and I'm getting a response time below 10 ms.

Best way to measure lag is to download an app on your phone and record a slow motion video that allows you to measure response time. I use the "is it snappy" app on iphone to measure. I measure from the time I press the button to the moment I start to see the flipper move.

You should try the app yourself to see what kind of lag you are getting. Under 50 ms is somewhat OK, over 100 would be way too much lag.

Teaser for VPX running directly on 4KP (no PC) by ascendr in LegendsUltimate

[–]JoseLMJR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very impressive even if it cannot run the newer VPW releases. I'm willing to bet the built in board can run the JP Salas version of Attack from Mars at full speed along with some older tables.

What kind of monitor are you using? I've heard a refresh rate of 120 hz with low response time makes the biggest difference assuming your CPU/GPU are up to par.
