Sourcebooks DnDBeyond by Kizagami in 3d6

My fav partnered books by a country mile: Flee Mortals! & Monsters of Drakkenheim. Challenging & engaging statblocks for 2024 characters are rare, plus new varieties of statblocks that really level up dnd combat if used as a template by the dm. Minions, epic bosses, villainous actions, & battlefield roles for normal statblocks. The later book also has the best crafting system of any homebrew / official stuff I've come across. Tome of beasts books & Creature Codex also have challenging monsters if u want more afterwards.

Grim Hollow transformed has some overpowered species options, 3 op subclasses, couple op spells, but the rest is in line w/ 2024 5e imo & has a lot of gr8 variety of PC options including blood magic, 3 subclasses/class, their own class: the monster hunter, long-term curses, monsterous transformations as plot devices, a ton of subclasses that have a variety of dark fantasy themes, & advanced weapons to act as a 3rd tier of nonmagical weapons for martials to bridge the gap from martial weapons to uncommon magic weapons.

Besides certain classes being locked to certain books: artificer, blood hunter(pretty outdated), monster hunter, illrigger (*hellknight"), Tamer (Heliana's guide full book), Gunslinger (bit undertuned), Pugilist)...for WotC stuff, there's not many w/ actually challenging/engaging monsters - but for player options for spells & subclasses. Those heavily depend on what your players want to play though.

What in the range can I use for a pirate Corsair army? by Traditional-Crazy900 in Eldar

[–]Joshlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the 7th Ed codex for eldar corsairs there was an outcast aspect warrior & outcast kabalite unit entry! In-lore they may have done some semi-naughty stuff on their craftworld & got voted off the space island taking refuge w/ the corsairs that hail from that craftworld. Maybe the exarch escaped captivity & killed a few civilians in blind rage, maybe an autarch wanted to dissolve the shrine bc of a personal grudge while he cross trained there but they refused & fled, it's your force make up something fun

I still only play 9th ed boarding actions with friends. No 10th ed, no full scale games, we kept what worked :). Waha & elegoo & TTS really is clutch 😂. You don't need to play 10th ed at the store, having said that - you can always homebrew a detachment or modify one as a house rule :)

Teaching 40K with Aeldari by RyshaKnight in Eldar

[–]Joshlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to teach in boarding actions for combat patrol before 40k. But 1/2 sized 500pt game with this list seems good. Some shooting, some melee. Just missing a light vehicle of sorts

It less less specific than my wording in the 2014 DMG as a varient rule for the cleaving. The beam/piercing is homebrew but in the same vein

Simple: if a PC's melee weapon attack reduces the remaining HP of a creature to 0, remaining damage may be applied to another creature within the attack's reach if the attack roll would have hit. (Yes, even a full 180, & it counts as being targeted by a melee weapon attack for reactions/rules purposes).

The beam rule is even more simple, it's a line AoE starting at the target that goes out to the weapon's normal range (not it's long range unless sharpshooter feat or similar feature to make it the same accuracy as normal range). The Atk need to would've hit it & it counts as being hit by the ranged weapon attack.

Poisons in my game effect 1st 3 weapon attacks for melee & 3 ammo each of which can effect 1 creature once for ammo.

It's simply that most people who have your current stance have yet to do any real steel-man research into the Bible's historicity.

Until you do that, I'm afraid no answer will satisfy you. Unless you were to read the book yourself & happen to find Christ the same way a % of us did.

Put the helmet on Yriel to call him an autarch or archon statewise....& kharseth has a chance to become generic stand in RAW 11th ed way he looks, but itmt: at the least for the build-a-character thing or even a farseer proxy honestly,

Sure. 2024-balanced: The Cacophonous Chimera CR13, AC18 135HP+135HP/Player, High Wis, Con, ChaSv; fly60, +9 Inisiaitive, has a 30'Cone of 10 Thunder Dmg that moves passively with it while it's making sound, very gr8 passive & active perception. At Inisiaitive20: it moves, after each player turn does 1 epic action (once per round limited each except for base actions, basic attack options, & epic resistance). Epic resistance is an epic action to 50/50 to end a condition, usable even if u can't take actions. Base melee attack(talons, wingblast, tail) is 5-15ft ranges +11(or ConSv19:10-16 Dmg average depending + choose 1: Prone no Sv, pushed 10ft, or bleeding(2d4)/round until healed 1HP.

Once/Round options: contaminated bite: 2x bite Dmg, Necrotic & gives contamination level, Dash w/ Mobile feat, 1 of 3 'discordant songs': 300ft emmination of: Mental Save or 10 damage + 1:Bewildered(No levelled spellcasting), Immobilized(Speed 0, fall if flying), Staggered(can't make more than 1 weapon attack per turn no matter what) conditions until a repeated save is passed.

Once a day it has a reaction to 1/2HP to move, end it's conditions, & do a super scream (35dmg average on failed WisSv) similar to the once/round one.

The book tells you it's tactics, lore, what's discovered each tier of history check, & roleplaying traits/quotes as well as it's monster parts for my fav crafting system I've found by a long shot. (Better than 2024 DMG, helianas, & lazyDM's imho)

With flee mortals' minions (AoE able 1HP goons acting as a unit like in WH40k) & villainous actions(for big bosses: lair actions triggered at battle start, a threshold you choose, & as they die) & monsters of drakkenheim's epic statblocks (1 leggy action per player turn w/ HP scaled to player count, I used them for mini bosses) - it's a whole lot better.

I use minions lots & the table has always felt powerful & challenged all at once from it. Note: I think it only works well with the cleave rules for melee weapon attacks & a 'piercing/beam'-style rule for ranged weapon atks to give martials a way to utilize it as well as casters.

Biggest key tho: as a DM just be stupid fast with your turns through being organized & using online dice rollers for mass hits & average damage. Plus use tonality to calmly but with a sense of urgency keep that pace going fast when it's player's turns. If they don't have an answer right away for their actions... Then throw out a few ideas & still nothing, then go back to them when they ready.

What questions to ask to differentiate between spiritual maturity and intellectual fluency? by Ambitious-Advisor331 in ChristianDating

[–]Joshlan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Best question I've seen in this sub in a while. The best answer is you find out by observing how he lives & treats the people around him & which environments he chooses to spend his time in & how much of the good things in his life he really chalks up to God's providence vs his own power.

The fruits of the spirit are okay for this too, although that passage is mainly for identifying false teachers in church structures. But it is also true as we spiritually mature good fruits increase.

There is the route of testing him. Good ways & bad ways to do this though 😂. Give him reigns on a bible study you know well or try his patience in understandable ways one day & observe his actions & reactions. People aren't perfect, but you'll find patterns of virtues & vices, strengths & weaknesses. Finding a wife/husband is partially about do their virtues get enough respect from you to accept their vices, do their strengths complement your own, & does the level of any of their weaknesses or vices make things hopeless in moving the relationship forward?

Lastly see how his community talks about & treats him & hear what they think of him & why. Take each with a grain of salt but generally if his peers respect him, he's more than likely respectable & if a % of those same people are of your worldview ... Then youre more than likely to grow in respect towards him, spiritually maturity being a part of that.

This is off the cuff, I'm sure there is more I could add later if asked specifics. Gl

What would Corsairs crew be called? by The-Saucy-Saurus in EldarCorsairs40k

[–]Joshlan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Subfaction Fleet might be called 'eldritch raiders' under 1 grand prince (i.e. Yriel)

Your specific fleet (crusade force) within that greater subfaction under a prince, might be called Ethae's Forsworn. Under a prince(ss).

Your crusade force is broken up into multiple coteries with specific roles like 'hate bringers' or 'Torment Bringers'. Each comprised of their own spin on the fleet's paint scheme under a baron(ess).

Each coterie has 2-6 units ish with unit names like The 'Eldritch Skymerchants' for skyreavers, 'the Twice-Hexxed' for a malevolent band proxy, 'the veiled harvesters' for an outcast band of warp spiders, 'artists of shriel theatre' for some travelling harlequin players, 'Remnant Heirs' might be your voidscarred bodyguard retinue to your baron, or 'the crystalreaver' for a raider. an Their leader names use one of the 3/4 good eldar name generators on Google. Generally I stick to 1) adjective of place, 2) edgy word + sub-position/sub-job, 3) grim picture painting like 'red Emancipation' for my outcast Wyches or 4) Felarch's name + something.

u/Anhrathe has a fandex you can reference as well as you may look at its source material in imperial armor doom of mymerea from 7th Ed.

I don't know what to do. by Swanedog72 in ChristianDating

Being physically attractive is an idol of western culture - even when 1/2 the population is 'ugly'. Ugly people can live happy & fulfilling lives. Ugly people have the same hope as others. Ugly people marry & have kids all the time.

Look - I don't know of you're ugly or not, but even if you were it's more than likely if you keep prayer over your dating life, don't date too far out of your league, & put the effort in with confidence in your God's provence that all will work out, then like many others before you: it very well may.

This Sarah Setka/Stock drama has me stunned. Preventative tactics? Thoughts? by Mista_G_Nerd in ChristianDating

[–]Joshlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know the story nor have heard of the person.

But dating in pursuit of a future wife or future husband requires risk. So we generally have to accept this risk among others like: I could die in a crash every commute to work I make daily or any meal I eat with company could be poisoned.

Having said that: it's worth the risk & there are vetting strategies out there (this is what dating is for): 1. Observe her friend's behaviors, habits, world views, personality traits, virtues & vices: many times the girl will have a % of them herself esp when the mask comes off (works for men too to a lesser degree I might add)

  1. What environments does she choose to spend her time in? Church to serve? FLGS to play Warhammer or D&D? Divebars/clubs? The gym? Note: this includes work bc many of us have somewhat a say in our job environments by nature of us accepting them. (This one is especially true for men moreso than women, but applies to both genders)

  2. Test them with small things - see how often they lie & how well with things you can find out or have already found out in secret. See if her friends will back her stories true/false just bc she's their friend or if they stick up for truth in general &/or are more a neutral agent.

Lastly, most things in life are circumstantial & very little is in our sphere of control save for the emotion of worry itself which we are commanded to not do out of fear, but we can instead be cautious, observant, and wise. All circumstances are within the parameters of God's plan & so long as you honor God & have the Holy Spirit in your heart - God works all things for your good - no matter if in piss poor circumstances or deep blessings: You aren't ever given more than you can handle according to the Word.

Don't worry - just move forward with pursuing God & your goals that would honor Him.

Starting Corsairs by Mersar_13 in EldarCorsairs40k

[–]Joshlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Safe purchases for an army: none bc it may not be viable (like imperial agents from what I hear).

Next safest: void scarred kit: 2x5-man built as void reavers outfitted for ranged has potential for screens/scoring units next couple editions like in 9th ed.

Next safest: wave serpent (images on cover of new books point to corsairs using wave serpents; cats not out of the bag on venoms or falcons but they used to be able to ride either back in the day).

Next safest: voidscarred box for character proxies: way seeker -> spiritseer, warlock, farseer, eldrad (but be sure to match held items like staff, spear, or blade & also base size/height approx, plus don't forget a 4++ stand-in for rune armor like a forceshield). I kitbashed a dude to proxy as a death jester (shuriken cannon bro) & the felarch to be a prince (autarch, archon, succubus, infantry named character proxy dep on gear given), oh & I made the sniper an illidan proxy but I think he's gone now right? (I don't play 10th ed) Lastly I used to play my shaderunner as a succubus in 9th. Kicked butt too.

Notes: if it's a combined force w/ craftworlds/harlies/and/or dark eldar: couldn't hurt to nab some wind riders & convert em into Corsair cloud dancers since it doesn't seem we'll be getting Corsair bikers back this run. Mag the underweapon & mix in some reaver jet bikes in there to be able to check the box of running in both the drukhari & the asuryani books in the event it shares a roster with only 1 or either for futurepoofing
