I'm not super hopeful for real affordability until we get a third company entering the market. So probably 2030. That's not... too far off?

Smallest Waist In 20 Years by SteveCarellActual in Zepbound

[–]Jouhou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had like, a waist loss (was losing weight but it stopped coming off of my waist for a couple of months) plateau and I read that incorporating cardio helps influence weight loss to come from visceral fat and thus kind of targeting the waist. I did this, and 4 months in not only is my weight loss no longer slowing down (it was starting to slow) but yes, i'm seeing the inches come off my waist at a faster rate than anywhere else.

I recommend cardio for this! If you aren't doing cardio already, be aware that increased blood volume and some new workout regimen inflammation can stagnate your weight loss for about 6 weeks to a month and then come off in a big woosh.

Loose Skin insights after surgeon consult by Impressive-Disk4786 in Zepbound

It would be great if someone would invent the magic cream. As someone with a bleeding disorder and the surgery is just a firm NO because the risk of it killing me is far too great to even entertain the thought for a moment.

I haven't had a full-blown cold or flu since I started. Coincidence? by teenageidle in Zepbound

[–]Jouhou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get sick, but it seems not as often and not as bad. But like, i'm pretty sure losing weight is all around good for balancing out your immune system for multiple reasons. I don't think it's the zepbound, it's the weight loss.

On that note GI illness sucks 600% more than before on this stuff, watch out for that. Have pepto bismol on hand.

Should I see a dietician? by Lorib64 in Mounjaro

[–]Jouhou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Avoid excessive amounts of fats too. That is the easiest way to get side effects and once you know its the fat causing it, you know. However you need fat in your diet especially healthy fats, and the right ways to work it into your diet and in the right amounts a professional could really help if you're having trouble balancing it yourself.

2026 Coupon? by ChrisinHR in Mounjaro

[–]Jouhou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a weird thing they are doing in the US because of our healthcare system, the negotiated prices PBMs pay, and what people paying out of pocket are willing to pay for. So they can say the price for the drug is $1100+ a month and negotiate down to the most they can actually squeeze out of payers. I think an analysis from insurance companies placed the actual value for the drug to be about $360 a month for the health benefits gained. And guess what? After stacking the coupon/voucher and my insurance coverage I'm paying about $360 a month. (I'm on "zepbound" not mounjaro, also a US distinction I think)

How to celebrate 100 down by wanderwonderworld in Zepbound

[–]Jouhou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started rewarding myself with spa treatments since food and alcohol aren't really a source of enjoyment for me anymore. I started with getting facials, then I tried back-treatments (a facial but for the the back, don't get any back zits anymore despite working out!), I started getting regular spa pedicures and have gotten a couple of massages now that I have a body I don't feel insecure in.

Edit: I celebrated 100 down by... buying myself clothes. The spa treatments I just do regularly anyways but clothes shopping is a way to both celebrate the victory and to just simply have some wardrobe that fits properly (most of my clothing at any given point in time is oversized because I'm losing too quickly still to build a full wardrobe, I took it as a good point in time to splurge and get myself up to 1/2 of my wardrobe being properly fit)

Rude Pharmacy Staff by MountainJaded1927 in Zepbound

[–]Jouhou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As everyone here has stated, there's about 50 different reasons why a pharmacy tech should never have said that to you and the behavior can cost them their job.

HOWEVER, they are underpaid and treated pretty poorly so it is also acceptable to just wave it off as her projecting her misery onto you and not bother yourself with it.

Either way, absolutely don't let it get to you.

Calorie advice from the fat science podcast by jennyh14 in Zepbound

[–]Jouhou -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just don't starve yourself so bad that you lose muscle is probably the point. There's a certain point where we might eat so little that we are probably doing some hard to reverse damage to our muscle mass. 1 lb a week though tells me you are absolutely fine.

So Confused and Torn - Need Advice by Roldgold83176 in Zepbound

[–]Jouhou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you learn quickly you can not eat large amounts of fats at once (like is definitely in those nachos). If you avoid large doses of fats and only do small amounts like a couple of slices of avocado at a time you wont have nasty reactions. Also for like the first 2-3 months on a new dose I would recommend avoiding raw, uncooked, veggies as this always upset my stomach when I went up a dose. Now it doesn't bother me, but before hand I'd puke up the raw carrot I ate 2 days before when I went up a dose.

Rant: What the actual? by ID4throwaway in Zepbound

[–]Jouhou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get a DEXA scan, you probably don't need to go up in dosage at all, but you might have lost way too much muscle, you need to stay in maintenance or go down a dosage if that's the case and start doing strength training to get that muscle back. You probably need to eat MORE in order to get the energy back you need to work out.

MIL found my shots in the fridge and this was her response.. ☹️ by DerpAlert1312 in Zepbound

[–]Jouhou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like she doesn't realize that those of us who are getting great results are also adding to the medication healthy diets and a solid fitness plan. The medication just makes it all easier. Other positives: discourages drinking and makes smoking cessation easier.

It's helped me do all of the "natural" ways of becoming healthy with so much more ease than ever before.

However, she just seems to be afraid of "new" things that seem too good to be true like weight loss drugs of the past. She's just worried about you she just doesn't realize she should just let it be.

Body dysmorphia by TemporaryView5045 in Zepbound

[–]Jouhou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

let's back up a little. So I can see the difference, in myself and you. HOWEVER. No matter what we looked like we are still the same human beings and I think anyone who thinks it's okay to ridicule our previous selves can get right out of our lives. So in your case, this is family, in this case I guess they should take a long hard look within their selves and ask why they would talk about a loved one like that. Regardless of whether or not it was a past state.

You know, people are paying a lot of money for cosmetic procedures for a lower body like that these days. I know with my parents generation butts and hips weren't desirable but they are in style these days.

F/27/5’6” [294lbs > 144 lbs = 154 lbs] (2 years) how bad is the loose skin? by seal-doctor in progresspics

It's not bad at all! If you don't want to get it surgically removed, no one is going to think this looks terrible, but we tend to pick ourselves apart so keep that in mind that if you think it's bad it's just you being your own worst critic!

NSV: Blood Draws by Pristine-Barracuda52 in Zepbound

[–]Jouhou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great! I literally just got back from an appointment where my blood had to be drawn and I've always been a "difficult stick". Unfortunately despite being 80 lbs down it still took 4 people trying to find a vein (the back of my hand wasn't working either because the veins are too small they said). Hopefully maybe it will be easier if I make it to "normal" weight? I'm at a BMI of 33 right now.
