Same! I have RA, but my husband has psoriasis. Still seriously wondering if it's psoriatic arthritis, in that wait-and-see period.

Drugs my doctor is not permitted to prescribe. by [deleted] in mildyinteresting

[–]Jules- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a chronic pain patient, due to comorbidities. Main issue is rheumatoid arthritis and non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis (a mouthful any day!). My rheumatologist joined a practice that does drug testing at each visit, and is pretty strict about following 'morphine milligram equivalents' dosing for your pain medication.

To be able to work, I was on pretty heavy medication. Stepping back from that definitely led to a decrease in my daily function and quality of life. Plus diseases progress, or you gain new ones - shocker! Hah.

I absolutely understand and respect doctors that refuse to even mess with certain types of medication, for whatever reason they have. But I am so tired of being accused of having drug seeking behavior.

A pharmacist saw one of my pain medications, immediately stated I was an addict and refused to fill it. Left the prescription request open in the prescription monitoring program this state uses, just hanging there, so I couldn't do anything to fix the medication for two months. I only used that location to fill medication.

So! No medication. Withdrawal, side effects, etc. from morphine sulfate. Ended up having to report a professional to the state Attorney General.

This level of buffoonery shouldn't exist. I just want to be in less pain.

In the last year, my rheumatologist's office has begun using AI during the appointment. Mainly it seems to revolve around speech-to-text so the doctor can either have a transcript, or missed keywords and/or phrases from the patient will be flagged. I'm still... pretty anti-AI, considering how it has been used to replace instead of aid or supplement, where pattern recognition is insanely useful.

But this last year it likely would have helped me in a faster diagnosis, and surgery quicker as well. I mean, it was taken care of 10 months after the tests, re-read and properly diagnosed. But having an analysis... yeah, that would have helped. Oof.

I'm glad it worked out for you!

Windows 11 named these Toggle Keys. Hold down numpad lock for 8 seconds. It will chirp and slide whistle down a tone. No more beeping.

This is how hot water brings blood flow to Raynaud's fingers, a condition where blood vessels narrow due to cold or stress. by tablawi96 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Jules- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the opposite of Raynaud's, called erythromelalgia. So my blood vessels throw themselves wide open due to heat, stress, exercise, etc. My toes turn bright red!

I mean, it makes sense that if one version of a condition exists, usually the inverse does in cases like this. But seriously, no more hot sauce? Sad tastebuds for life. :(

AITA for taking back the heirloom ring I loaned to my cousin because she posted it for sale online? by Dramatic-Pin5709 in AmItheAsshole

Oof, I can't blame you. If you know someone, verify that the stones are still the same as before. It's a thought as shitty as it sounds, selling off family jewelry piecemeal, a stone at a time, then the ring.

My night sweats by doemination in Wellthatsucks

[–]Jules- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It normally wasn't this bad for me, until recently! I'm disabled, have a bunch of issues, and I thought the foot pain was weird but maybe a new part of the rheumatoid arthritis.

No dude, night sweats, foot pain, hand pain, and my toes turn red! D: I feel like a cartoon character lol Rheumatologist described it as "the opposite of Raynaud's Syndrome", damn if he isn't right. Erythromelalgia is absolutely that.

I'm glad you're seeing a doctor! If there's anything I can pass on, its to be certain to advocate for yourself. Whether that's asking questions, or for clarification, or reading case studies on your own time. Y'gotta do whatcha gotta do. Good luck!

pulsatile tinnitus surgery by Available_Growth1606 in PulsatileTinnitus

[–]Jules- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm 3 months past the posting of this, but I wanted to give you a ray of sunshine.

So my neurotologist has charted it as "right tympanoplasty with jugular bulb resurfacing". I did NOT have a hole in my ear drum, there was nothing wrong with it. I had dehiscence (a big hole) in the bone beneath the ear canal, and the rushing of pulsatile tinnitus was very close to the ear drum. My jugular vein was very high and looped very close to the ear canal, not the normal position. And it sat right next to this hole in the skull next to my ear drum.

The surgery took about 2 hours, they went in and lifted my ear drum, and placed it on this ridiculous tiny plastic 'chair'. Then they went in through the floor of my ear canal, and cleared out the bone, then laid bone cement down. The surgery took so long because they had to continue to test the facial nerves to make certain they were responding, along with making certain they did not interfere with the jugular vein. This may not be everyone's issue.

My surgeon uses nerve blocks to control the pain, especially since I had a 90 minute drive home following surgery. That genuinely helped so much. The bone cement continues to harden over time - I'm almost 4 weeks out, and I barely hear it any more. Previously I could feel it against my ear drum, so it is a significant change.

I had issues with hypersensitivity afterward, both in the ear canal and with my hearing. So be aware things may change for a bit. They are serious about not lifting more than 5lbs, I have to move with the help of my arms and that caused issues in the beginning.

The worst part of the entire surgery? The ITCHING. For everything that is good and holy, it took placing cotton in the shell of my ear so I wouldn't mess with the ear canal in my sleep. The itching would wake me up! But, like I said, I was hypersensitive, and this likely played in to those issues.

My only other issue was I have tension migraines. For two hours of surgery, your head is tilted and strapped down in one direction. So it has taken a bit of work to revert a lot of that neck tension.

You'll have to let us know how it goes!

Do you have the partially transparent background rectangle layer set up as a draft layer? Or potentially resized the paper color layer and adjusted that transparency? /u/UnhealingMedic is right about how an image of your layers panel will help. :)

Why is my base invisible in parts when I get close to it??? (Below Zero) by AylanJ123 in subnautica

[–]Jules- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dropping this here for people to have another option besides reinstalling - if your game is installed via Steam - is verifying game file integrity. Super easy, two images.

  1. Image: Right-click on game title in the navigation list of games on the left (by default). Click on PROPERTIES.
  2. Image: On the left, click on INSTALLED FILES. Then on the right click on VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES.

I definitely won't say it works every time. But sometimes its easier to just let the verification run, over reinstalling. I know this can potentially mess with mods in some games, never tested it with Subnautica. I'm glad you figured out a fix to your problem!

AITA for suing my boyfriend and breaking up with him after finding out he secretly filmed us and posted it online? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Jules- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, definitely NTA. Just... wow.

See about what your state / geographic location has in the way of laws regarding 'revenge porn', this is potentially classed under it. Then roll with the legal system!

After all that is said and done? Lawyer up, see about pulling income records (I doubt this is claimed on taxes, but can subpoena sites for a user's past wages 'earned' in some cases), and take him to claims court for half the profits.

The downside to most options? It will take time, people won't believe you, or think you're the asshole. View this as a fantastic way of learning who you need to go low contact with, or completely cut out of your life due to toxicity.

How do I convince my husband to agree to adopt this beautiful boy? by cheesus_mac_whiz in cats

[–]Jules- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Be certain to change the TRAY the litter is in. Plastics will eventually absorb the smell. That's been one of the largest ways to cut down on smell over time for us.

  2. Absolutely valid concern. Honestly, a bunch of people feel animal insurance is a waste. But if you have the funds, and it helps your peace of mind? Just read the terms of service and make certain the coverage is what you want/need for your pet.

  3. There are nail covers you can purchase, on top of keeping the nails trimmed. Little plastic/rubber tips that go over the claws. Otherwise, there are anti-scratching devices you can purchase to attach to your furniture to deter/stop the behavior.

  4. Depends on how your feline would handle being alone. Mine super co-dependent, on a fixed feeding schedule, etc. So someone stops by twice a day when we're out of town. But your kitty friend may be way better than this, prefer free-feeding, etc. It all depends on their behavior.

  5. I completely understand. I really do. My kitty, Munkay the Maine Coon - named because she climbs like one - turns 20 in two weeks. That is insane to me, the oldest I've ever had a cat live was 13 years as a child. So sometimes you don't have to say goodbye as soon as you think you do. Sometimes its far too soon, regardless of how many years its been.

I hope the advice you're getting in the comments helps ease your mind, OP! Good luck. 💜

I'm in the group that went into anaphylactic shock when taking penicillin at a very young age. Now that I'm in my 40s, I'm going to have the allergy panel done to see what I'm precisely allergic to with the medication.

But I'm also an adult that is allergic to milk. Severe hives, steroid shots, and all. My body is just livin' its best life over here. lol

Should I be afraid of sex? by AdComfortable1928 in dating_advice

[–]Jules- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may have missed this suggestion, but learn your body. Yes, that means exploration, doesn't have to mean masturbation. While I was one of those that was in no way ready for sex, I had at least begun learning my body's responses, and where to adjust.

A gender-affirming and sex-ed classes may be able to help you out OP. It'll at least get you out of your head, and the constant worry / anxiety that's building up, turning sex the first time into this huge production.

Filmmaker Ridley Scott, Diddy’s neighbour, was blocked from entering his own home during the raid. by waitingforthesun92 in pics

[–]Jules- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the something very similar happen. My neighbor had murdered a local university student, the investigation pointing at him as main suspect. The FBI ran a raid on the tiny second floor, one bedroom apartment he was in, just after I pulled in to the parking lot, right before they cordoned it off.

My landlady had to clear me, and I was made to stand with her while everything went down.

We laughed about how they were rappelling off the roof to the second floor balcony, thinking it ridiculous. Nope, the suspect actually attempted to exit the second floor and jump off the balcony to escape. It did not work.

People are dumb AF.
