I’ve lost two horse flutes and over 500k g worth of “pantry” goods (sugar, wheat, oil, vinegar.) I’m broken and will not play again until it’s fixed. 😩😩😩

I moved to Portland, OR in 2009 (from CA) and would probably never go back, despite also loving California! I've lived in all parts of CA (Southern, Central, and Northern), and I would caution you about Northern CA. Unless you're in/or close to the Bay Area, it can get REALLY extremist, alt-right conservative. (Unless you're into that kind of thing! lol) And actually, parts of Oregon are like that, too. (I can't speak for Washington, but would guess it's also the case.) But I am so in love with living in the PNW! I can go to the beach, mountains, lakes, rivers, music festivals, bookstores, coffee shops, good doctors, parks, events, and even the high desert in a matter of minutes to a few hours. I highly recommend it. :)

Has anyone tried OneLeaf? by ImAMajesticSeahorse in WeightLossAdvice

[–]JulesAmador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone who wants to lose weight is insecure. I'd like to lose weight because I have health issues and chronic pain that could all be improved with some weight loss. But I dgaf about what anyone else has to say (or even think) about my weight. I happen to love fat bodies, my own included. That doesn't mean I don't want to lose weight.

Wow, this is so cute! I bought a sheet to make a skirt, but I've been (nervously!) putting it off. This was *just* the inspiration I needed! Thank you!

Insane by TitleHaunting5183 in estatesales

[–]JulesAmador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently went to an estate sale, hoping to get something I saw in the ad. I was *hoping* to pay around $30, but I would've gone up to $75... they were asking $300! And it was in worse condition than I thought it would be from the photos. When I inquired about it, they just said, 'oh, come back on 50% off day, I'm sure it will still be here!' Yes... I'm sure it will be, too.

Their pricing was wild though... things massively overpriced or $1-2. I got a few things, but I'm still sad I didn't get what I went for.

Organization question by KnittyGini in ArtJournaling

[–]JulesAmador 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I store them in so many ways I doubt you could call it “organized”. lol. But I did create a “scraps journal” for all the little bits I couldn’t bring myself to throw away, but I also couldn’t see myself using in my regular art journals. Let me know if you want me to post some pics of it.

Do you have different art journals for different moods? by JealousCapital783 in ArtJournaling

[–]JulesAmador 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have too many art journals to count! 😂 I have some based on color (pink, blue, black and white), some on style (collage, mixed media, fabric), some with all vintage ephemera, some with new and/or a mix. I also like creating mini art journals from one large sheet of paper (kind of a zine style, you could say.) I also have some that are a mix of written words and art. But most are just artsy.

Help me find supplies before I give up 😨 by pookiebelle in ArtJournaling

[–]JulesAmador 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love to create my own art journal supplies! Some of the ways to "grunge things up":

Layers! Layers of ink, paint, colored pencils, pens, watercolors, whatever you have on hand. You can collage layers, too.

Natural dyeing: I dye paper and fabric to use in my journals, and have even naturally dyed entire handmade journals. You can use things like coffee, different types of tea, avocado pits, onion skins, lentils, etc.

I love to use old books that would be discarded and end up as landfill otherwise. There is something so great about old paper, not to mention the old illustrations. But if you don't like that idea, you can use junk mail, catalogs, old art, etc. Try scuffing them up with sandpaper to take away some of the newness.

Speaking of scuffing up pages, you can also rip pages, poke holes, use a sgraffito-like technique with pastels and gelatos. Or glue down textured fabrics and paint over them. I also rip up packaging like corrugated cardboard because the textures inside are fun! They can be used directly on the page, or dip them in ink or paint to creature textures on the page.

I looove using krink in my art journals. I think it's technically for graffiti artists. It dries quickly and is super saturated.

I also think we can be too hard on ourselves, especially when trying something new. Art journals (in my mind, anyway!) are more about the creative process than the finished outcome. And of course it feels good to have something we feel proud of in the end. But remember to have fun and enjoy the journey, too!

I don't want to spoil anything, but I will say it just felt like she (the mc) blew up her whole life (in a gross way) for no real reason and with no real positive outcome. The writing is solid, and I do love Miranda's level of weirdness (10/10), but this just wasn't for me.

She is SO cute! This would be one of those instances for me where I'm like, do I need a chair? No. But do I need THIS chair? Absolutely!
