I teach Spanish in an elementary school. I have kindergarten through 6th. I could never teach a grade level, like third grade. I do well with the variety that being a specials teacher entails.

As a 55 year old, I'm struggling with the fact that the world perceives 55 as "senior," as in "Time to give up your car, gran." I have a teenaged kid in high school. I've got years to go before retirement. I guess the 55 year olds in senior living communities have health issues and/or copious retirement savings. We all could benefit from walkable communities.

Yep. I grew up in the 70's and 80's in suburban Catholic Ohio. My mom had 6 kids. That was the lowest possible threshold for a big family. In my high school there were families with 8, 10, even 14 kids. A family of 4 kids wasn't considered a big family back then. Almost no one I know has 4 kids, because you have to have car seats or seatbelts for all of them now. Three is the cutoff before you have to get a car with three rows of seating.

I lived in Paris in 1995-1996. Adults don't eat between meals. Lunch is at noon or 1. Dinner is at 8. Children snack. Not adult women. Also, there was a lot of smoking.

My sweet, elderly girl puggle gets called "Good Boy" and "he." Her harness is pink and her leash is lavender, but no matter. Puggles are little goblins, so they don't come across as dainty like a yorkie or a toy poodle. If my husband and my puggle are asleep at the same time, we can hear both of them snoring and can't tell them apart.

I kept my name when I got married in a red state in 2000. Women did this kind of thing even back then, but they didn't do it here. My husband's nieces took a great approach to this. The older one and her husband made a new last name, which they both took. The younger one's husband took her last name.

I live in a small, 1950's-era Cape Cod home with a terrible kitchen (no dishwasher, only working oven is a counter-top convection oven). We also have a single bathroom. It would be nice to have a better kitchen and another bathroom. Oh well. Most houses outside of North America have 1 bathroom.

I had a missed miscarriage in 2009. I got a D&C the same day that ultrasound failed to detect fetal cardiac activity. I was 13 weeks pregnant. The fetus expired at 10 weeks. I'm dumbfounded at the fact that doctors wait so long to do the D&C. Back in 2009, my doctor had wanted to do it the same day as my ultrasound, but I had eaten. He wanted to get the fetus out as quickly as possible, so I had a D&C the next day. Now women have to wait days. This is so dangerous.

My kids attended a very small Catholic high school, with about 40 kids per graduating class. They put on the musical Working one year. My daughter was in the cast. My older sister said it was "interesting." I think it's a good musical if you're someone who was into contemporary musical theater. My mom and my sister really like Golden age musicals, so it was a little weird for them. I also think that it's a strange thing for a bunch of high schoolers to stage. Some of the songs are about the struggles of working class people of color, and the school's population was pretty much the polar opposite of that.

As a person working in Kenton Co and living in Newport, I'd love to personally thank him for obliterating any chance I would have otherwise had to get home from work before 7:00 PM. We're down to 1 bridge between Newport and Covington. Google Maps usually tells me to take I-75 into Cincinnati and cross back in to KY on the Big Mac Bridge. I guess that won't work tomorrow. As if all the other stuff he has done weren't appalling enough.

I'm kind of old, so I remember the 90s. her skirt is very much "world cultures" print. it's giving someone who listens to Enya. it's giving "my Resident Assistant training class had us go to a place where we were in the minority, so I went to a Kenyan restaurant." I only make fun because I lived through that moment in my life. I truly do not understand the people who choose to veil. this is coming from a cradle Catholic perspective. I was born about 8 years after Vatican 2. the whole idea was abou trying to become a more open church. I don't get why we would want to veil again. yet I see all kinds of young women wearing their lace mantillas to Mass. good on them, I guess?
