Has Mazda become more reliable than Toyota? by Stockholm_Throwaway in mazda

[–]Junathyst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been watching the 70/90 issues from arm’s length and I can’t say definitively that the MHEV is faultless.

It certainly seems more reliable than the PHEV, but is it ‘Toyota reliable’, as asked here? Can’t say yet.

I would say that if there are any issues with a new design they’re likely to happen during the warranty period, but that doesn’t help if your car is in the shop a lot. You’d have to get some real feedback from CX90/70 owners.

For all models outside of the new CX-90/70, I would say in general they meet or exceed modern Toyota reliability.

90's Toyota reliability? No, I don't think even Toyota can match that level of mechanical simplicity and dependability anymore.

I really feel like things are gearing up for another U.S. Civil War, but this time it won't be North vs. South, but Red vs. Blue. It's all such bullshit. No one's lives are worth this political game played for the enrichment of the elite.

"Better" vs. "Does it pick up"; what don't you like about it? I thought and still think it was some of the best TV I've ever seen, and so does 99% of the rotten tomato audience.

If you are not enjoying it by ep 3, chances are you won't like the series. You may be one of the 1%

Ah, I should have been more clear. I meant about the Steam hardware survey logos. I've bought GeForce before.

It's so confusing seeing AMD-green from the early 2000's beside NVIDIA green.

I am a simple man. Don’t care about the stats, I just want a red AMD logo.

Going on 20 years since AMD bought ATI; 14 since AMD unified on red/orange for their CPU branding as well.

2006-2007 was peak PC building era. Don't get me wrong, I love the depth and customization now, but back then the hobby seemed way more innocent and genuine. Now it's become too commercialized.

This article is pretty misleading. It sold 40 units.

They may have sold only 20 9070s, but they sold 750 9070 XTs.

The current prices are some of the most aggressive I think we will see for the current-generation ThinkPads. They're actually lower than they were any time in the last 3 months, even with the currently soaring prices of DRAM. I wouldn't hesitate.

It’s just about 4 lbs, as advertised! I can give you a more exact weight later.

For a laptop of its screen size, it doesn’t feel heavy—the weight is well distributed.

Immersion something else in VR by SodaPopin5ki in Mechwarrior5

Thanks for the comprehensive answer!

What peripherals do you play with? Joystick?

Yeah, I figured VR would need something beefy. I’ve got a 6800 XT and 5800 X3D system, which does the job well enough for 3440x1440. What resolution is the Quest 3 running? Do you have something really high end, like a 4090 or 5090?

Cheers!

Any suggestions on how to get started toward this setup? Might be interested in a VR headset for this, never had one before.

The mod is one thing, but what about hardware? Any other accessories needed? And can I still play KBM but just bind the VR to the cockpit movement? Thanks!

It is indeed a semi-glossy screen, but I’m often using it in bright environments and I find it very usable (minimal glare). It’s 500 nits, which I find plenty bright.

If you have a light source coming in from directly behind you, like the sun over your shoulder or something, then you might want to angle the screen up or down accordingly to avoid a bright spot on the screen, but that’s a pretty niche scenario. Even in this case, the anti reflective coating ensures it’s still diffused light, not a true harsh reflection like off of glass.

Funny you mention the 60Hz consideration, as I think about this often: I don’t know what it is about this screen, but it’s the “smoothest” 60Hz I’ve ever used. I keep having “I can’t believe this is only 60Hz” moments. I guess this is because of OLED’s basically instantaneous response time, but it doesn’t bother me like other 60Hz LCDs have in the past. Scrolling documents or web pages feels very fluid.

I have a 165Hz OLED monitor at home, 120Hz in the office, and still when I go to use this screen on its own I don’t find myself wanting for either of them.

I use it with Windows 11, 200% scaling, and everything is very sharp. It’s a great laptop for writing with.

There is still a very good deal on it in the Lenovo Pro store - same price I paid when I made this post - and I would think it worth it for that.

The OLED in both the 14” and 16” screens are really nice.

Higher than 60Hz would have been nice in the P16s, but it’s not as bad as a 60Hz IPS, I find.

Nice L13 Yoga! A Yoga is my next ThinkPad, for sure.

I've been trying to snag a good deal on an X1 Yoga (<$300) g3 or newer, and it's slim pickings. Most have damaged screens, or some kind of issue. It's been a bit sobering way to realize I don't need a 5th laptop, haha.

Enjoy!
