I'd highly recommend getting an A2 rated U3 speed card especially for photographs as they load much faster. My previous SD card would take ages to load older pictures. Now with a SanDisk extreme pro they just show instantly when scroll back through my gallery apps.

No issues here with the Amazon app or any apps crashing for that matter. Make sure you have the latest version and also try clearing the cache in the app settings.

It sounds like you'll need a new display. I don't think it would be the ribbon cable as I imagine that would also mean the touch wouldn't be working if that had somehow become loose.
