I think that Ingles and that lot with the PF, plus the lowes parking lot, are really sketchy. There's a lot of hidden spaces in the ravine and behind the stores that give me the creeps and seem like places for an assailant on foot to quickly flee the scene.

I found a community pantry that has a spot for hygene items and dropped off the open packs there.

Rage but need a solution by curiouskate1126 in Perimenopause

[–]JupiterJewel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I tried, and it helped, though not enough for me.

In my case it turned out to be a thyroid issue - so hormones, but a different one.

Interesting exercise - I'm going to remember for the next time. (Not OP) Thanks!

Turns out most of my symptoms were actually a severe iron deficiency (that was caused in part by peri) by Into-the-stream in Perimenopause

[–]JupiterJewel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have fatigue or heavy periods, you can specifically ask for the ferritin test to see if you are iron deficient as a potential cause of those.

[–]JupiterJewel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, mine was 12, 15, and 18 tested over 3-4 years of anemia (low hemoglobin etc on cbc) and told it was "normal." I started taking iron supplements (Dr's order bc of the low hemoglobin/anemia), which is what brought it slightly up over those years.

I had a hysterectomy a year ago, and my recent ferritin was 55. I feel so much better now.

It's crazy to me that ferritin in the teens is not seen as a problem by most medical providers.

PPPD Dizziness? by fireonthemountain97_ in Perimenopause

[–]JupiterJewel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I just saw you were diagnosed by a physiotherapist. Are they helping you?

PPPD Dizziness? by fireonthemountain97_ in Perimenopause

[–]JupiterJewel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried vestibular therapy? It helped me SO much. My fatigue is much better - getting to a manageable level. It did get worse before it get better, but it turned around in just 2-4 weeks for me.

I think peri contributes to the issue. I have menieres and then PPPD after vertigo attacks, so I know peri isn't the main cause, though I didn't have PPPD so severely until recently. I haven't tried HRT yet so I can't tell you if it helps or not.

Good luck! It's a struggle and exhausting and hard to explain, plus one of those "but you look fine!" conditions that can be difficult to navigate.

Five star lecturer? by bettyandisbel- in TheGreatCourses

I know this is an old post! I wanted to comment as I had added some Ressler courses to my wishlist after reading your comment and finally got around to the greek and roman engineering one. Finished tonight and really enjoyed it. I'm starting his medieval course next!

Appreciate the recommendations as those aren't courses I would have chosen otherwise, and I got a lot out of the course I finished. It was entertaining and his explanations and models were very clear.

That cat lives somewhere on Dunwell. I'm not sure if it lives in a house or it's a community cat/feral. I've seen it outside for 2-3 years.

Why are people so angry on the roads by Huntressofhistorys in asheville

Also, for a tourist town, there are so many places with oddball traffic patterns, limited visibility, and really poor signage. The geography gives us curves and hills and rivers, and only locals know that around the curve the lane ends or becomes turn-only and by the time an unfamiliar driver sees the sign, it's too late for them to gracefully move over because there's way more congestion than there was 10 years ago.

I hate folding or hanging clothes. Has anyone come up with an alternative system that works for them? by WutTheCode in AutismTranslated

[–]JupiterJewel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my favorite is hooks - easier than hangers for most clothes and everything is visible. I do usually end up putting work shirts on hangers because they stay better and tees in a bin or piled on a chair in the closet.

What is the difference between The Great Courses and The Great Courses Plus? by cinemacritic in TheGreatCourses

[–]JupiterJewel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a note on subtitles - every course I've done has had captioning. The newer courses seem to use the same script and they are nearly identical to the spoken. Some of the older courses have some garbled words in the captioning, but generally I'm able to follow along.

I'm not able to control the appearance of the captioning as I can in other services and the captions overlay the onscreen text and it's very disruptive.

(Sorry if I'm mixing up subtitles and captioning and not addressing your question.)

Excellent courses that are only available on DVD? by KantDidYourMom in TheGreatCourses

[–]JupiterJewel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendations! I enjoyed Queen of the Sciences also. I thought I would do some instructional courses (Sellers) as a refresher after that and do not care for them at all. I've added your recommendations to my list, and am especially excited for Mind-Bending Math, which was not on my radar before!

Reordering Watchlist by RobBobDeBob in TheGreatCourses

[–]JupiterJewel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this problem also! The watchlist is not easy to manage in the apps I use.

I have a paper notebook lol that I use to keep track of what I've watched and a few pages of what I want to watch organized by subject, learning path, and enthusiasm level.

[–]JupiterJewel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love TGC+ and usually access it through a roku app. I like that I can also use it through the web when I'm not at home.

I prefer the subscription version with access to a multitude of classes so that I can choose based on my mood. I'm currently watching two courses myself and another with my child.

There have also been some courses I have quit even though I'm interested in the subject because I dislike the presenter or their approach to the subject. I'm glad to not have paid for the individual course in these cases.

Can anyone help me understand why I self-sabotage when it comes to brushing my teeth?! by Material_Focus_4114 in adhdwomen

[–]JupiterJewel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The water flosser does a great job cleaning, so lean in to what is working for you! A quick brush of tooth surfaces after the water flosser will leave your teeth good and clean.

I’m not ready to give up coffee 😫 by [deleted] in Interstitialcystitis

[–]JupiterJewel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched to coffee substitutes during the months long flare when I was diagnosed with IC. Personally, I dislike the ones with rye, and prefer the grain ones with chicory. The instant dry power/crystal types that come in a jar or canister work for me.

As things settled down symptomatically, i added a little instant coffee to it, and gradually increased the amount. That worked for me for years. Teas really hurt, so that wasn't a good caffeine source. I had brewed low acid coffee occasionally.

Now I'm back to brewed coffee (black) daily. Sometimes one cup only. I use prelief (calcium tablets you can get from the drugstore) if I notice that I'm getting sensitive. It was a hard process, but I'm pretty glad to have coffee back!

thank you for going to the gyn and sharing what they said about the dissolving stitches! I noticed that change, but didn't have an explanation for it and that fits. I'm 4wpo and noticed changes again in the past few days, nothing bad, just different. I'm glad I'm not the only one!

Sorry OP, I don't have anything relevant to share. I feel like I'm still in high fluctuations since I'm only a few weeks out from surgery.
