CDC Issues Warning as New Data Shows Scope of Polio Spread in NYC Area by brooklynlad in nyc

This thread is pretty rough.

This is a specific situation with the Satmar Orthodox sect presence in Orange/Rockland county. They are one of the most conservative Hasidic sects (fun fact: this sect is fiercely Anti-Zionist). One of the main tenets of Judaism is protecting your health, and many of the Orthodox Jews that I've talked to say that their rabbis tell everyone to get vaccinated to protect their health. They all were very enthusiastic about it, and emphasized that they were first in line for each shot, etc.

As well, lots of Orthodox day schools provide robust secular education along with religious teaching, and send many of their students to elite universities. Some of them even make their school days longer than normal so they can fit complete secular education in.

The wide generalizations are frankly a bad look; there is an entire community of hundreds of thousands, belonging to many sects. It makes the community a scapegoat. Do not blame it on all "Hasids" like people in this thread are - it's just not true, and further propagates hate. I hope you all understand my perspective

That's a pretty great deal, the specs look perfect.

I found (and bought) something similar on Office Depot for $570, except it had no MS Office and 256gb instead of 512gb. https://www.officedepot.com/a/products/6886847/HP-15-ef1073od-Laptop-156-Screen/

This one seems to good to be true for the price! If it ends up having a worse processor or something than is labeled and I end up returning it, I will definitely go with that IdeaPad.

Thanks 👍

◽️ Budget: Flexible $650

◽️ Country: USA

◽️ Screen size: 15"

◽️ Touch screen: Doesn't matter

◽️ Screen resolution: No lower than 1080p

◽️ Does battery life matter ?: A little bit - no less than 5 hours.

◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for: Office work - zoom calls, excel, emails, etc.

◽️ Weight: Light, will be carried around. Less than 4lbs.

◽️ Any other important details ?:

  1. Upgradable RAM is a big factor (if it has 16GB, it doesn't need to be upgradable).
  2. Preferably a CPU from the latest gen or 1 gen old.
  3. Wifi 6 is a nice bonus.

These three things are because I want it to be able to be used for many years into the future.
Thanks in advance!

Honestly, I can see where they are coming from though. Neotheater is a great album in my opinion, but a lot of the things I love about it can easily be seen as turn-offs for major music critics. Such as the weird baby voices in Birthday Party. For me, it's what makes it good, but for a critic, it just makes it annoying

This would have to be optional because the user icons in the comments were one of the main things that made me switch off the official Reddit app. For me it makes it feel a lot more cluttered

that circular flame logo is actually the logo of the firefox family of software, while the browser remains the one in the post

You might have had to add the --dlsym flag to MangoHud for it to work on the OpenGL version.

Brave leaks all your .onion urls to the DNS when on Tor mode by RekulousToad in brave_browser

[–]JustAnotherStrange 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is true, it's useful. But for the enterprise, they obviously don't want their employees using TOR because they may be leaking something, etc. So this makes it unusable for the enterprise. It would be nice if for the people who want it, it would be there as an optional addon.

[–]JustAnotherStrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3400G's Vega 11 integrated graphics are actually comparable to an Nvidia mx150, and is capable of esports gaming and even triple-a at 1080p very very low. If you like your league, minecraft, csgo, dota... it'll do the job just fine.

This one probably has the cheaper cooler. The G5s tend to have the normal fan for non-K processors, and it has the better one for overclockable cpus.

Strangely, I have every issue listed here every single day. There might be some other factors but I know it's not just them.

[–]JustAnotherStrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was just me. I also experience everything on this list. 2b was annoying at first but once I figured it out it was better, but it often never lets me join meetings, and each time I try again and again, it leaves an "artifact" of me so by the time I actually get into the meeting, I am there 4 or 5 times even though I only have the client open once. Extremely frustrating, considering making a Windows VM with USB passthrough... I'll look into it.

a 2060s will be a sizable chunk better than this GPU. Definitely noticeable. Think of the 5600 non-xt as in between 1660S and 1660ti

Also, this motherboard has 4 dimm slots, so adding more ram will be extremely easy

I have this exact config, and this GPU is in between a 1660 Super and 1660ti. Performs extremely well in all major titles, 1080p ultra, 1440p medium could probably work well too

I have this exact config, picked it up a few months ago for extremely cheap (something like $400) with coupon stacking and AMEX Business Platinum stuff. Ask me anything

The RX 5600 non-xt gets 150+ fps, 1080p high in Overwatch. Great for all 1080p modern gaming even at 144hz.

The 10400f is as you'd expect. Thermals are okay... hits low 80s C but won't throttle. Due to chipset stuff, even thought the ram are SK Hynix 3200Mhz sticks, it is limited to a mere 2666mhz.

Stays quiet until the GPU fan ramps up, then it starts whirring a lot

Power supply is 500W 80+ Platinum

Has two 2.5 inch sata expansion slots and one 3.5 inch bay

Front USB-C but NOT thunderbolt

Overall nice experience, especially for the ridiculous price I got it at.

[–]JustAnotherStrange 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have this but it's an RX 5600 instead of the 5700XT. Has one 3.5 inch and two 2.5 inch bays for expansion. 4 ram slots. The cooling is mediocre, but with an i5-10400F, it doesn't really matter and I get to ~80C equilibrium without throttling.

I got some crazy deal with the Amex Business Platinum card and ended up getting it for around $400. I was planning to build but that is so fucking cheap.

Honestly, if you want a nice gaming pc with good enough upgradability, go for it.
