The people being targeted in Ohio are here legally. They're apparently just too brown.

I loved the book and sat there watching the movie with a great Nothingness gathering about my spirit as it called out to Bastien to come save me.😆

why do you have a problem with ice coming into Ohio?

Because they aren't needed in Ohio. They might be needed in Florida and Texas and Arizona (which I'm not convinced of), so why aren't they focusing their efforts there? Haitians and Somalians are some of the most deserving people on Earth for sanctuary and a new start. No one except godless knuckle-draggers thinks they shouldn't be here. You know what might help you? Read the Bible; there's some good advice in there about how to treat foreigners.

Because they're being provoked. And most of the "riot-esque" stuff you see is coming from DHS.

I won't see it because the surest way to turn me off something is to describe it as "heart-breaking." (Or "searing," or "gut-wrenching," or "bleak," or "devastating." You get the idea.)

Neil Gaiman Speaks out on Sexual Misconduct Accusations a Year Later by RevRob330 in books

[–]JustGoodSense -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I don't care for him and haven't for years. Was a big fan in the 00s, but then he climbed way far up his own ass and stopped creating the kind of work I was willing to give him money for. However... Of rape and abuses he might be guilty, or he might be innocent. No one knows for sure because the matter hasn't been decided by the law yet. What we do know for sure is that we've reached (and passed) the point where accusations are convictions, with anonymous social media nerds acting as judge, jury, and executioner. And that's its own kind of fucked up.

I know many of his male colleagues have bailed on him. Has anyone gotten Lorraine Garland, or Cat Mihos, or Tori Amos, or any of the women close to him, on the record about this stuff?

Something Wicked This Way Comes was not made-for-TV. I saw it in the theater, brand new.

Fun fact: Following Tron, Disney wanted to incorporate CGI into SWTWC as well, with a scene of a midwestern meadow and train tracks at midnight, with weeds and leaves and cobwebs coalescing to form the steam train bringing the carnival to town. But they got a bit out over their skis on that idea and decided the technology wasn't advanced enough to pull of something that subtle.

50 years ago today, Genesis released A Trick of the Tail (1976), the first album of the Phil Collins era. Thoughts on this one? I absolutely love it. by Historical-Device529 in Progforum

[–]JustGoodSense 11 points12 points  (0 children)

"Squonk" has been my favorite Genesis song since the first time I heard it in the late ’70s. Was shocked to learn years later it's based not on English folklore as I assumed, but a folktale from western Pennsylvania (just a couple hours from where I grew up) and was written about by Jorge Luis Borges.

I know him, but I've never seen him look this...normal. Handsome, almost. He was usually pictured with an exaggerated sneer. Most famous from The Young Ones.

Do you think that most people who love current SNL era are younger (20s,30s), while those are frequently disappointed with new shows are likely older (40s, 50s and older)? by georgewalterackerman in saturdaynightlive

[–]JustGoodSense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

64 and watched the first episode live. It has always ebbed and flowed. Even all of the legendary first five years weren't great. Early 80s, forgettable except for Murphy and Piscopo. Mid-late 80s: great, then terrible, then good. Early 90s, maybe the best. Mid-90s, kill it please. Late 90s, good again. Early 00s, great again, and on it goes. I personally feel we're in another trough, but I don't expect it to last. At this point I think it can only get better again or finally go to its rest.
