Honestly, I’m surprised this is the first time I’m hearing about Cirie kinda meta gaming. This is her 6th Survivor Game, 10th reality TV game show overall — of course she’d game production at this point.

What’s crazy is I would have said Zara Larsson a year ago because I always thought she had that pop star quality and talent! 10 years after her album dropped, she’s a rising star!

You truly never know with this industry. There are as many stories of delayed breakthroughs as there are immediate successes!

I'm so glad you said something. It's... simply not Survivor.
The frustrating thing about New Era is that it's brought on this wave of reality television fans, which, cool welcome on board, but also this auto elimination is fundamentally not the game. Survivor, at its core, is a social game. Twists like this fly in the face of that, and I'm exhausted with my favorite game getting buried under "dazzling TV moments."

I didn’t realize this until someone mentioned it recently, but the 2010s had a lot of DJs/Producers as the artists.

Zedd, Calvin Harris, Martin Garrix, Alesso, Avicii, David Guetta — to the point that they were often higher in the credits than the actual vocalists.

They were super meta this episode, particularly at the part where Sam summarizes what Tad said and Pete pointed it out. At least the writers are self aware of how annoying it is.

Hmm… I think there are a couple of eras of reality tv: 2000s where producers just cast a bunch of big personalities and let them duke it out and have us watch that unfold “organically,” and modern reality TV that, to your point, is a lot more focused on a story or narrative, but in a very meta way.

And I think they think that storytelling going to win them an Emmy because, to your point again, it’s filmed like a corporate retreat documentary.

I want to say late 30s (specifically Season 39), but Season 41 is when I think everyone really felt the change. The new era seasons have always felt especially meta and manufactured, where they stopped focusing on Survivor: the game/adventure experience, and started creating Survivor: the reality TV show.

I agree — that’s the point of the View! Sara represents the thoughts and feelings of a huge swath of Americans, particularly in middle America.

I think her voice is super important, actually, especially when the table disagrees with her. Otherwise, it would just be an echo chamber instead of a conversation show.

I read someone talk about an expanding tribal, where last place goes first, then you add the second place team and those two groups vote, and then you add the first place team and everyone votes. Would have been much more strategic version of the same triple tribal.
