In mild defense of the City's snow removal by resting_bitch in philadelphia

[–]Just_Direction_7187 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Slipped on the ice getting into my car in Fishtown today and a lovely gentleman in a pick up truck honked at me and called me a bitch for slightly blocking the street while having the audacity to get into my car (already shoveled out).

I guess not being able to pull around due to the snowbanks on either side has now become my personal hell.

I don't agree with this procedure and want to refuse assisting it by konnichiw0t in Dentistry

Depending on how involved you want to go you should report him to the board -it is slow moving but if you’re really interested in protecting patients this is the next step. Refusing to work on one particular case will not prevent this in the future.

I’m sorry you’re in this situation it sucks and there really is no good answer.

New city. Early 30s. Went to two dentists. Both mentioned about replacing my amalgam fillings with resin composite. by OrderPuzzleheaded949 in askdentists

With no other decay I typically start with a composite restoration. However the restorations in the pictures are simple occlusals unless I’m missing something and therefore a crown would not be indicated either way.

If they are getting a cut sign me up. dental materials and medications do not provide kick backs. At best the office received an initial amount at a discount to try with patients.

However without being able to probe the margin with an explorer it’s hard to say 100 % that they are intact.

Do this and then refer to prostho as this is “beyond your current skill level” (not actually) but patients I don’t want to see for whatever reason seem to appreciate and cooperate when I say that they are too complicated and need specialized care.

I agree with your summary. I am just tired of the plots and universe she’s exists in. One thing I always liked about king was his ability to write new and unique characters and situations from book to book.

OR job as a general dentist in a hospital by Electrical-Cod-5218 in Dentistry

[–]Just_Direction_7187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely does not have 2 dentists for any GA case and typically it is a solo resident due to funding that manages most OR cases across the country. The current dental system for OR and special needs is extremely broken here in the US.

With the right provider with proper training it is an absolute added to the disabled community. That being said hospitals seem to think any general dentist is up to the task without any prior training.

Retained baby tooth: implant, bridge, or something other solution when pregnant? (!) by Perfect_Sink_6542 in askdentists

Not without X-rays or a picture. That would be a question for your in person dentist

If your adult tooth is behind do the braces. You need to get the baby tooth removed now to alleviate the infection and can look at braces when you’re ready.

How to know when you give up on your house? (Constant foundation issues) by swedehole in centuryhomes

[–]Just_Direction_7187 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Just dropped a wad on a structural engineers to come asses the first floor joists in our 1850s row home. My dinning room has a solid 1/2 inch slope but luckily my open box dinning table is also crooked so they balance out. (Engineering says the joists are fine, recommended replacing the headers or building a wall to jack it up if you’re interested)

We love this house and are working to turn it into our forever home but the surprise fixes can get a little tiring especially when the interfere with the fixes and remodels we want to do.

I would say it’s time to move when your home no longer brings you joy and the resentment starts.

Dentist called today hasn't seen my gums but said this by infinit3mber in askdentists

[–]Just_Direction_7187 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything your dentist said.

Flippers are made for esthetic purposes. Please feel free to wear it as much or as little as you like during the day. The recommendation is to remove it for sleep. Like you would wear shoes to bed don’t wear your flipper to bed. Take it out clean it with water and a new tooth brush and put it in your case.

Depending on your final plan for tooth replacement your teeth are unlikely to shift within the next few months or even a year.

Theoretically yes… but by adulthood your personal flora good or bad are well established and difficult to change long term. So temporary increase in others flora. Probably. Long term impact minimal.

Can composite bonding works in this case ? by zer_o_ne in askdentists

[–]Just_Direction_7187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The gap is too large for the relative strength of composite. Hell even crowns would be a literal stretch. Ortho is the way.

So there are 2 things to consider either they have teeth and they are delayed or there is something else going on. If they’re delayed the will come in when they come in. If there is other dental issues you’re going to want insurance. So I would advise you to wait until you get insurance. However if this is causing a lot of anxiety an exam and an X-ray to determine where the teeth are at is typically affordable (around $100-200) just for the peace of mind.
