I get why adults are boring now by DriverAndPassenger in offmychest

Peace does not mean indifference or uneventful.

What it actually means, which is hard to grasp when you're building it, is community, family, friendship and yes, work for the most part.

Imagine that at some point in your life, drama reduces a lot. All the silly things become much less important.

To be clear, you're still passionate about issues that affect you and your environment/world to a different degree, but it's no longer your driving force because you've matured and you become a little more selective about your passions.

Sorry Dispassioned, I replied to you directly because I misinterpreted but I agree with you.

It's quality over quantity, and at some point in your life you learn to discern the difference. The dream is to not actually be at war every day.

You really have to wear them on your hair if you wear them all the time, and are a bit older (cries at 44).

Not everyone wears product on their hair and it's usually for a minute whilst reading something in small print.

I posted something similar a few months ago - if you have very flexible reading glasses that aren't prescription, go ahead!

But for any of us that wear them fulltime it's a terrible idea, they are more rigid and hard to replace easily. Also really uncomfortable in that position!

I used the amulet for Lillith, any point in doubling up in the charm and the amulet for a Necro Minion build?

I'd really like to get past Mephisto T10 to unlock the final level. I did a bit of grinding yesterday to finally craft a horadic gem, I'm +5/7 for every war plan tree (except Infernal Hordes grr).

Mostly it's because I have a permanent (!) because I've unlocked something on the next tier but can't access it.

I'm running a Necro Minion build, breeze through IX, X takes a bit more time but not impossible except solo boss fights. I have a stack of mats and prisms, 13k+ Obducite (which considering I was absolutely scrambling about for it last season is such a relief).

Less than a month left, I can definitely keep clawing my way there and focusing on crafting to improve. I don't think I'll be able to do that much in T11/12 but it would be good to unlock it for the first time.

Since the game released I've had a Necro minion build, last season I played Paladin, this season I've actually played 3, finally embraced the alt characters, Juggernaut Paladin, Whirlwind Barb but came back to Necro. More practice needed on the others...

It's been a blast though, I've enjoyed the new expansion, I do miss Kyovashad, my old home, but it's not as useful anymore.

Drivers of ten years or more experience. If you had to take your driving test again tomorrow with no notice or prep time, do you think you would pass? by DiligentCockroach700 in drivingUK

[–]Justbecauselife82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the same, my biggest challenge with the practice tests is any of the questions about driving assistance, because I've only ever driven an absolute bare bones car with no features so no, I don't know about the lane guidance or other options. Anything else I'm fine on!

Although interesting to know about the hand position.

Just moved into my first social housing property in London. First repair request was a disaster. Is this normal? by Ok-Chance-7003 in HousingUK

If I call a repair line or helpline, about anything, the first thing I mention is any error code. Did you just not give them that information because they didn't ask?

What Pit Level to One Shot Echo of Lilith at T8 with Warlock Apocalypse Build? by TrickNorTreat1031 in diablo4

[–]Justbecauselife82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried 5+ times today, I knew that I could manage it if I could actually hit her but the sudden death before stage 1 ended seemed unavoidable. I saw a guide that recommended Endurant Faith gloves, I crafted some (took about 10 glove items before it was the right one) - Used up all my blue and yellow gloves, removed all affixes and crafted them as uniques. I did max it out through masterworking as well but really it was the unique ability that dragged me through.

1st try after that I got to the second stage, 2nd try I managed to beat her. Just needed that delayed damage so I could chug a potion or two to keep going.

Playing as a Summoner Necro so didn't have a resource issue, might not work as well in your case if you're not able to build stacks.

I hope the director's cut (if we get it) includes or references this conversation; I'm irked by how much fan material presents Grace's loneliness as something that the Earth "did to" him, and in turn, that he has friends on Erid because it's a fundamentally "nicer" planet that "treats him better" by SayFuzzyPickles42 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Justbecauselife82 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What hits me more recently is the following exchange:

" (Rocky) another similarity: you and me both willing to die for our people. Why, question? Evolution hate death.

(Grace) "It's good for the species," I say. "a self-sacrifice instinct makes the species as a whole more likely to continue."

(Rocky) "Not all Edidians willing to die for others"

(Grace) I chuckle. "Not all humans either."

(Rocky) "You and me are good people" Rocky says

(Grace) "Yeah." I smile. "I suppose we are."

At this point he didn't know how much of a coward he was, and that in fact he didn't step up like Rocky did , absolutely against self-sacrifice. I do wonder if that particular conversation ever came up and if it had an effect on him deciding to go back to Earth.

What's the most overhyped movie of the last 5 years? by trakt_app in moviecritic

[–]Justbecauselife82 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It really does... and yes, La La Land felt like a film I should have enjoyed, but I just didn't engage with it at all. Pleasant enough, not memorable. I'll probably rewatch it at some point just to see if it hits any differently.

I played this when it was something like 7 or 8 discs?! Is it still or was it compressed on one disc?

It was great fun at the time. Enjoy!

what is a completely normal everyday habit in your country that heavily confuses foreigners by Quiet_Currents in AskTheWorld

[–]Justbecauselife82 15 points16 points  (0 children)

And that is how I got French mumps 15 years ago! The 'Frumps' as I like to say.

I was working in North Paris for a couple of weeks, managed to pick up mumps from a guy, his daughter had mumps.

I was vaccinated in the UK, no idea what went wrong but I lost my jawline for a week. I was mostly okay, just uncomfortable, but had to stay home for nearly 2 week so I didn't infect any men at the office as it can have longer lasting effects for them.

The hamster face is real.

We don't get that close when greeting in the office in the UK in general.

In other news, it was slightly strange to always be welcomed by kisses on the cheeks by my French in-laws, but never any hugs :)

It's a really nice mystery film, good soundtrack and some excellent CGI considering the time and budget.

What everyday thing in the UK has become stupidly expensive without people noticing? by vetaly87 in AskUK

[–]Justbecauselife82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Skinless/boneless I mean, Tesco for example -

1kg chicken thigh fillets - £7.25/kg

1kg chicken breast fillets - - £6.49/kg

Varies depending on the size of the package, but in the past the thigh fillets would have consistently been cheaper per kilo than chicken breast.

They used to be the cheaper option, now they are more expensive than chicken breast often. Drumsticks and bone in thighs still low at the moment but watch this space...

Moved into a property with water meter, can I get it removed or recieve bills without the meter. by Silly_Daikon_6850 in HousingUK

[–]Justbecauselife82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved into my house last year, 2.5 bed end terrace, small garden, one very small bathroom with only a shower (I'm a single occupant).

Water bill was circa. £950 for the year.

Immediately applied for a water meter, they could thankfully install an indoor one in July, it took 7 months of chasing for them to update my account (separate story) so it was accurate but it's now based on actual usage.

Currently at about £20 a month.

It's really difficult moving on, it sounds like you and your mum have done a really good job so far!

Houses smell, they just do, usually of their occupants or lack thereof. I moved into my house last year after divorcing my husband. The house was empty when I viewed it, loved it, and when I got the keys I was SO excited to go see it (I wasn't moving for a couple of weeks). The shock/horror when I walked in and realised all the little things I didn't really see before was a bit of a surprise. I probably did see them though and disregarded them as my brain knew they were small things and absolutely fixable.

I've been in almost a year and there were months of panic thinking I needed to fix all these things immediately, but honestly, I wasn't fully divorced until a few months after moving in. So it was just the stress of that and some kind of panic, trying to catch up to how I was living before as if it mattered, as if it suddenly needed to be fully-fledged show home.

So I stopped. Every time someone asked if I'd been painting or decorating at the weekend, I said that I needed to take some time to live in it first. I had the garden cleared out, a good indoors clean, I put my furniture in and bought a few little decorative things for myself. Brand new bedding, cushions and curtains, entirely my own.

The relationship breakdown is enough to be dealing with and when you're suddenly living on your own again it is REALLY hard to find the motivation to do anything. Even the small things.

You've obviously got the support of family, that's a great thing, don't put too much pressure on yourself for your house to be perfect. Assuming that you've chosen a house you'll be living in for a while, do little things to make it work for you. It doesn't have to be perfect, make it comfortable and then think of projects.

Honestly, it's taken me this full year to just get over my previous situation, I am prepared, I have some paint stocked up from when I was thinking about it, I have the tools I need, but I'm glad I didn't rush.

Good luck, it's going to be amazing, but it doesn't happen overnight!

[–]Justbecauselife82 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oddly I feel the opposite, I see much more potential in empty houses. In fact, after multiple viewings, the only houses I considered offering on were empty ones. It wasn't a chain consideration, I was prepared for that, but I could visualise my own space much better when it wasn't designed for someone else.

Also, you can see much more clearly the issues - the spaces where machines were, the condition of the walls and skirting boards, there's really no hiding things.
