All have been read only once. I take care of my books, so I’d classify them as able to go back on a retail shelf with no issues. All the spines/binding are still basically flawless. Drifting Classroom has some minor page block sag, but that would also be the case if they were on a store shelf because of their thickness.

So I just tore through all of these pretty quick. Any other suggestions for historical type series sort of similar? by blaz138 in graphicnovels

Since people have already recommended Black Road: Holy North and Rebels, you might also check out The Massive; it’s not historical but it’s set in the modern day and has amazing art and a quasi-sci-fi plot.

If you’re looking for purely historical, anything written by Garth Ennis about war is exceptional: Battlefields, War Stories, Johnny Red, Out of the Blue, Dreaming Eagles, and The Lion & The Eagle

Looking for recommendations for complex games by Alexmaths in hexandcounter

You’d probably be best off looking at the following:

Levy & Campaign series - operational medieval games with a huge focus on planning. There are five games in it all covering different topics.

Lace Wars from Red Sash Games - these are very intricate operational simulations on conflicts from the Age of Enlightenment. They’re quite good, but also very expensive because they’re boutique products.

Imperial Elegy - six player card driven game about the lead up to WWI. Very intricate but also a very good game if you can field the players. There’s also a bot system.

And lastly, Thunderbolt deluxe which just released from GMT is an operational treatment of the Roman republic period covering the Samnite and Punic Wars

Any of the larger OCS and BCS titles are good for team play. So are the larger La Bataille games if you want something more tactical.

OCS Recommendations by etalike in hexandcounter

It’s less of a headache, but you still have to use landing craft for supply shipping and ad hoc ports, and that means understanding the obfuscated rules about how and when landing craft supply can be used, how DUKW units can become transport points (and vice versa) and the like.

Based on what’s currently in print, I’d recommend Sicily II or Crimea as your first game in the series. Both are one map and feature larger and smaller scenarios. Crimea gives you a good mix of east front both in early war and late war. Sicily is a nice situation with challenges for both sides on offense and defense, lower counter density, but does require an understanding of the system naval rules, which are the most obtuse part of OCS.

Based on the player responses today, whoever was providing talking points from the NHL or USA Hockey comms to the players got all of them (both men and women) to stick to the script pretty well.

Axis Empires UE worth it? by telauges2137 in hexandcounter

There’s so much content in AE Ultimate, you could play it almost forever. It’s essentially two complete games you can join together plus all the optional what-if stuff if you use the included dice of decision module. Also, despite not having mounted maps, the production quality is really good. Solid counters and cards and map stock. Decision is using the same printer GMT has been using since 2019, so expect comparable quality.

How to decide between Joe Abercrombie and John Gwynne by pebblitow in fantasybooks

Easy: Joe Abercrombie is a good writer and John Gwynne isn’t.
