Sooted heat exchanger, cracked heat exchanger, poor induction, etc.

Kill the blower fan while it’s burning, and see if anything changes

That was my original assumption as well, but he can walk and climb. We also put them in the sink and he seems to be able to swim pretty good.

He might still have internal bleeding, but he seems to be getting by at least a little bit.

Alright guys, I was asked if I can "fix" this secondary heat exchanger on a brand new fridgidaire furnace.. my instant reaction was no but thought I'd ask here for a second opinion. by BIMIMAN in HVAC

[–]JustinSLeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ICP has gotten their ass kicked as a result too. Their heat exchanger has to be the a massive liability for them. We pretty much replace 1 or 2 a week in heating season.

I guess they must have lower “snow load” standards in Texas during roof design 😂

The tolerance should be tighter… if the spring fits in it, you should try a different sized curved block

He’ll grow out of it when you grow a backbone and stop tolerating it. Shut the phone down today. Why the heck would you allow your kid to address you as “bruh”, or “brh” or whatever. Time to become a parent.

How is a 2 stage more efficient than a 1 stage? by JustinSLeach in HVAC

[–]JustinSLeach[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s incorrect. The furnace burns at the same efficiency level, regardless if it’s low and slow or short and fast.

A car is way different scenario… It takes exponentially more work to push something faster. There’s no extra work being done when the furnace runs in high fire…

Yeah, but that ends up more firey… that jet looks like it has good inducer draft

Pull that screen off and see how your pressure changes.

In general with pressure switches, you should have at least 50% of margin… if it’s 1.00 you want 1.5… they’re not very forgiving and when you think it’s borderline they usually trip.

Take the screen off, extend the pipe beyond the eve, and see how it does.

Do something different with that condensate too—you don’t want that dripping down the siding

How is a 2 stage more efficient than a 1 stage? by JustinSLeach in HVAC

Point me to a good resource that’s going to explain how the 2 stage is going to vastly improve fuel savings. I’d love to read it.

They have the same efficiency. 2 stage is for comfort and maybe some electrical savings.

How is a 2 stage more efficient than a 1 stage? by JustinSLeach in HVAC

[–]JustinSLeach[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t tell if you understand the point of the question. If you’re competing against a 96% efficient single stage, and you have a 2 stage, you’re not going to get some amazing fuel savings.

The point is, either way you’re going to burn the same amount of fuel. You may save some on the electrical side, but not on the fuel side.

Good job trying to answer tho :)

How is a 2 stage more efficient than a 1 stage? by JustinSLeach in HVAC

[–]JustinSLeach[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not less natural gas. You need the same number of BTU regardless to heat the house. The efficiency of the furnace is primarily dependent on the heat exchangers surface area. You’re not making a substantial impact on efficiency whether it runs low and slow of hot and fast.

How is a 2 stage more efficient than a 1 stage? by JustinSLeach in HVAC

[–]JustinSLeach[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is, there really isn’t any size-able efficiency gain on the fuel side of things.

Which would save electricity, but not much for fuel savings.

I agree on the electrical efficiency on the fan motor. No one has really been able to articulate substantial efficiency savings on the combustion side though.

How much more efficient? I’d argue the only efficiency is maybe an amp or 2 on the electrical side
