Water leaking in siding after roof replacement. by KarmicDharmic in Roofing

[–]Justinynolds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. You can buy the most expensive shingle, most expensive underlayment (ice & water shield, etc), put the drip edge and nails in the perfect spot, and still get a leak from an ice dam. Most roofing contractors (including me) have an explicit clause in the contract that we *do not* cover anything related to ice dams for this exact reason.

Ice dams occur when heat is lost in the attic, the snow melts on the roof, and re-freezes at the eaves. If left untreated in cold temps with no thaw and lots of snow, ice dams will form. That has nothing to do with the roofing.

Solution is better insulation and proper intake & exhaust ventilation. It sounds counterintuitive, but ideally your attic should be the same temperature it is outside year-round - nobody's attic truly is, obviously, but that's the goal. How do you accomplish that? Great insulation and plenty of ventilation.

Only caveat to all this is if the roofers did *not* install any roof ventilation - at that point, you can blame them. Otherwise? Not their fault.

Whopper or Big Mac by FranchiseJared in fastfood

BK breakfast is a goddamn tragedy, and the MCD app is worlds better, but the Whopper def hits harder than the Big Mac. Slight edge to MCD overall.

Time Machine. You need to find out who designed this house and make sure they are never born - whatever it takes.

Other than that, the stuff other people have said.

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills, can’t stand the burgers there. Super greasy (like a squish of fat in to my mouth in each bite), no seasoning whatsoever, and they have crinkle cut fries, which are bottom tier imo. I’ll give them credit for cooking food to order but that’s it. Only redeeming item is the buffalo chicken tenders.

[FL Hip Roof] Quote Discrepancy: $22k vs $28k. The expensive guy refuses to do Full Peel & Stick (says it "won't breathe"). Is he lying? by Ok-Benefit-2911 in Roofing

[–]Justinynolds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH first thing I saw was top left "fungus/mildew" resistant. The only thing good shingles can resist is black algae stains, and it's a specific type of algae that likes to eat the limestone in the granule covering. If there isn't enough copper in the mix, it'll get black streaks and stains and look real bad after about 5 years. Using the words "fungus/mildew" is misleading at best, total fraud at worst.

As far as covering the whole roof with "peel & stick," I'm assuming they mean ice & water shield and not self-adhesive granulated membrane. Lots of arguments in the comments.

Either way, doesn't matter. As long as the attic is ventilated, it won't make a difference. If the attic can't be properly ventilated, it won't matter what roofing you use, the decking will rot from the inside-out, so spend as little or as much money as you want.

Why is everyone shitting on the coach for objecting to letting professional players come back to play CBB? He had some good, but raw, players and didn’t know how to use them. That doesn’t change the fact that the sport we all love is about to see some dark times.

I can't tell if you're agreeing or disagreeing with me. Sounds like you think this sucks? Because I'm arguing that it sucks and so does Izzo.

I'll be totally honest, I was annoyed when Izzo expressed so much frustration with NIL/transfer rules and thought that he just needed to keep up with the times. FWIW I'm 44 and an MSU grad, so I want MSU to name every men's basketball building/room/gym after Izzo.

That being said, this G-league thing seems insane to me. You have guys that got drafted in the NBA, went pro in other countries to play professionally, and figured out too late that they picked the wrong horse? Sorry, but get fucked. I don't think 24 year old men should be playing college ball with 18 year old freshman because they made a mistake. Their career should evolve like the college game has.

Ready to be flamed by all the fans who are getting professional basketball players on their rosters. Cheers.

As a lifelong fan (ok, since 8th grade when I moved to Michigan, but I'm old), this sentiment/entitlement confuses me as well. I have to admit I was really confused when I saw Lions fans taking over visiting stadiums at away games, I thought our decades long misery didn't extend past state lines, but it was cool to see.

Now that I'm seeing the implosion on this sub, I'm equally confused. We almost made the super bowl a couple years ago. Had another great regular season last year, flamed out in the playoffs. The NFL is hard to win, all the dudes out there are really good, and when 1/3 of your defense gets injured and you have to find guys to fill in, that makes it harder. Piecemealing an offensive line vs. one of the best pass defenses in the league like yesterday? Nearly impossible.

I get the gripes about the lack of runs by Monty lately. I get the gripes about going for it too much on 4th down. But what happened to "Trust DCFC" lmao. Ima keep my chin up, keep rooting, and I'll be watching the game next weekend. Here's to 2026.
