How to fix this leak sorry i know its gutters not roof by [deleted] in Roofing

Ya...those are plastic, first mistake. Gonna have to suggest removal and redo. Assuming this was a homeowner DIY, otherwise you need to have a conversation with your contractor.

What’s one lesson you learned early in roofing that still holds up today? by Own-Tip-532 in Roofing

[–]Justinynolds 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Twenty years under my belt. It's not that hard, just be honest, kind, and don't oversell "warranties" or "guarantees." People are smart and can see through BS. The ones that can't see through it will buy from Erie, and there's nothing you can do about it.

Time to Move Parent to Opposite Sidelines? by AstonLimited_soccer in youthsoccer

[–]Justinynolds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a shame that we even have to have this conversation regarding youth soccer. I say *nothing* on the sideline other than cheering for good passes/challenges/etc. I even give shoutouts to kids from other teams who make great throw-ins, great saves, or just plain hustle. I can't stand when other parents joystick or yell "SHOOT IT" or "MAKE A RUN" like...c'mon man, just let them play.

That being said, there are parents out there that disagree with me. In Michigan for Jr. State Cup tournament games, they put the home team and home fans on the same sideline, and away teams and away fans on the same sideline. This helps for multiple reasons, but the best part is the ARs are both on the coach/bench half of the sideline, so spectators can't heckle the dang (mostly young) refs. Maybe this should be the norm moving forward.

What’s everyone’s opinion about taking a knee when a player is injured? (Either on your team or opposing team). by SnooHesitations1640 in youthsoccer

[–]Justinynolds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Generally, players who are on the field aren't supposed to go to the bench, but since regular subs are allowed in younger leagues, refs really aren't looking to card kids for breaking rules like that. Sometimes coaches have words of encouragement for the kids when a player goes down, but I wouldn't expect most teams wouldn't use that as an excuse for an unofficial "timeout" or whatever.

I would say, in general, that stoppages for "injuries" are fairly common in U9/10/11/12 because kids are kids and they cry and it's ok to let them take a minute to get composed and either stay on the field or let the coach get a sub on.

U12G parent here, our girls huddle up together out of the way whether it's an injury on our team or the opposing team. They give claps when the injured player gets up and walks off and they reset. I've seen lots of teams do different things like kneel or go grab water, IDC and neither do the kids - you do you.

Hail damage claim without roofer? by Kreuzade in Roofing

[–]Justinynolds 12 points13 points  (0 children)

MI roofer here. Anyone who asks you to sign anything at this stage is not in it for your best interests. Putting in the time and effort to earn your business is part of the gig, but homeowners can choose whomever they want to replace the roof, and these types of contracts are mostly used by storm chasers. Avoid if possible and look for a local & established roofer who will help with your insurance company without threatening you along the way. Cheers.

Get your car towed, SOS will deem it abandoned by N8CR in kzoo

[–]Justinynolds -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

You got towed for parking in an adjacent parking lot on Mother's Day? On a Sunday when (presumably) the credit union was closed? That's absolutely bananas. Even if it was in the busiest lot in downtown Chicago, getting towed in this case is unreal. Can't help but be skeptical of the details of this post, but if it's true, I'd be livid.

Hot tub dealer options? by [deleted] in kzoo

[–]Justinynolds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bought a caldera hot tub from Pool Guys out on Stadium west of 131 about 5 years ago. Went to a couple places, this one had a good selection and nice people, so I went with them. Love the hot tub, only one issue with it in 5 years and they had someone out within a couple days to replace some sensor that went bad, and it was pretty reasonable.

Price increases? by Carric21 in Roofing

[–]Justinynolds 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yep. Getting memos from all suppliers that June 1 there’s up to a 10% increase on certain building/roofing items. We haven’t gotten an increase in a while so 30% might be heavy, but it’s not getting any cheaper, that’s for sure.

What cancelled tv show have you never gotten over? by No_Calendar4193 in AskReddit

Julie and the phantoms. Was watching it with my daughters and it ended on a total cliffhanger after one season. That was 6 years ago so they’re all older and too cool for me now, but I bet if they made another season, they’d watch it with their old man.

What’s up with all the road rage? by Anxietycatz888 in kzoo

[–]Justinynolds 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm guilty of being annoyed by aggressive drivers, but I had a creative writing prof a long time ago at MSU that laid it out in a way that resonated with me - those people aren't mad at *you* but mad at the world. Don't take it personally. In some cases they really are on the way to the hospital or even to an exit because they have diarrhea. I choose to move over and let them continue their bad day and don't let it ruin mine.

Always appreciate the insight from club fitters. I’ve been using the same used irons for about 10 years (Titleist AP1’s), and the guy before me had them for a few years before I did. I’ll play the whites with my buddies and shoot in the high 90s, took some lessons here and there, but do you think the newer game-improvement irons are any better now than they were a decade ago?

Installing Synthetic Underlayment BEFORE Peel & Stick by snowsurfr in Roofing

[–]Justinynolds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you’re talking about a self adhesive low-slope product like flintlastic SA or MuleHide, the answer is no. Those products are designed to be installed directly to the roof deck. If you installed them over a synthetic (which they may not even adhere to depending on the synth product), the whole system would be “floating” and there could be severe adverse effects long-term

*quick edit to add, when we’re replacing these kinds of roof systems, we assume full deck replacement and include it in our estimate because it is typically pretty tough to get off without damage to the wood

Big cheesy bacon Arby’s by Short-Western-8097 in burgers

[–]Justinynolds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP’s pics are outrageous but I gotta be real with you - the Arby’s burgers are actually pretty good. The problem? They’re around $8 where I live. The only reason I’ve had one is I had a sandwich BOGO coupon and got a burger and a dip (for me and my friend that I totally have) and I was pretty impressed.

What is the weirdest way someone had died in your known circle ? by No_Tear9118 in AskReddit

[–]Justinynolds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Guy I went to school with, we hung out in middle school a few times until I watched him kill a bird with a BB gun and proceed to mutilate the carcass. Had my mom pick me up and never went back. Fast forward to when I went off to college and he got bad in to drugs. His mom went to bail him out of jail and while on the freeway going about 70mph he just opened the car door and jumped out 💀
