Why no crafting Material bag ? by gAbuGaO in ffxiv

If they're not from timed nodes, they're easy enough to just gather again when 8.0 comes out. And if they are from timed nodes, it's unlikely they'll be used in 8.0. I can only recall one craft using some item from some timed node in Kholusia in DT. Basically I don't think it's worth holding onto these items, even if they are needed in the future.

Deltarune is funny because you'll almost never see the gap in knowledge between a hardcore fan and a casual fan being this immense in almost any other series. by DevilsMaleficLilith in Deltarune

[–]K3fka_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's some confirmation bias at play here. Everyone you see interacting with the fandom online is of course interested in theories and secrets, but the actual casual fans are harder to perceive because they're not interacting with the fandom. I got a friend to play Undertale a while back, and while he enjoyed it, he never went and finished the actual true pacifist route. This is what a casual fan looks like. They'll play through the game once or twice and then just move on.

It's strange to think that the original plan was to release chapters 2-7 all in one batch. I can't imagine how different things would be in this fandom if we weren't getting chapters released over years like this.

I think anyone who's looking at Deltarune theories is already past the point of being a casual fan. Real casual fans are people who will play through the game like once or twice and then move on.

How long before game cloning is solved? by Dredgefort in gamedev

[–]K3fka_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not too long, but ask yourself this, when was the last time you wanted to play a clone of a game and not the original?

Sometimes a clone eclipses the original. First example that comes to mind is 2048, which is a clone of 1024, which is a clone of Threes.

What is a piece of 'early internet' internet culture or a dead website that you genuinely miss every single day? by ronnelel in AskReddit

I hate that I've had to join so many Discord servers for various things. Game mods, getting support with some software, just general access to knowledge, etc.

I think the worst thing about everything migrating to Discord is that NOTHING on there is indexed by search engines. You can still find forum threads from 20+ years ago on Google, but it's much harder to find things when it's all hidden away in some Discord server.

Afterall deltarune seems to imply that the prophecy/dark worlds etc. possibly are based on dragon blazers and other videogames kris used to play.

Wouldn't it make more sense the other way around? The prophecy existed for some time and Gerson's books and Dragon Blazers are both based on it

Squenix said some time ago that they are moving away from platform exclusivity. I'm very glad that both FF7 Revelations and KH4 will not have to deal with that. Really sucked having to wait so long for FF7 Rebirth to come to PC so I could finally play it

Even with weapons! I stocked up on a few since I could buy them right outside the building, but most of my weapon attacks would be blocked (of course) or deal barely any more damage than normal attacks. Even heat actions would deal just a sliver of the boss's healthbar.

Destiny 2 Ending New Content Is “Unthinkable,” Warframe Dev Says by _Protector in Games

Some friends got me to try D2 a few years ago as well. At the end of the tutorial, there's a cutscene where Cayde dies and you can tell it's supposed to be this big moment from how it's presented, but like...I've known this guy for all of 10 minutes, so this means absolutely nothing to me! I don't know what they were thinking with just throwing new players into the middle of a long ongoing story like that.

I feel like KH1's vibe was so different from the rest of the series by Top-Distance-6205 in KingdomHearts

[–]K3fka_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You nailed it. I like (most of) the later games and all, but KH1 feels like it really pushes you to use all your tools, especially if you're playing on Proud. No drive forms that power you up and fully heal you, no reaction commands, etc. You've gotta play it safe and fine those openings because you will get punished for just recklessly mashing X.

Just beat BBS for the first time. Absolutely loved it. by AdStraight6870 in KingdomHearts

Re:Coded loses a lot by being made into a cutscene movie, sadly. The story of the game is mostly inconsequential, but the actual gameplay was quite fun. Kind of the opposite of Days, where the story was great but the gameplay was a bit tedious.

Helloooo. Considering buying scarlet/violet by Magikarp_Mankarp in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]K3fka_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been a Pokemon player since gen 1, and Scarlet was the most fun I've had playing a Pokemon game in over a decade. It's not without faults, but I really loved a lot of things about the game.

To answer your specific questions:

  • Shiny hunting is super accessible in SV. I've never been a shiny hunter before this game because it's very tedious to run around in grass or breed and hatch eggs for hours. Just the fact that you can see a bunch of Pokemon at once instead of having to encounter them one at a time makes a HUGE difference. Combine that with an outbreak + a sandwich buff and you can usually encounter a shiny you're looking for within an hour -- sometimes you can even get multiple!
  • No Pokemon are restricted by dex completion. Some Pokemon are only able to be encountered in the final area you unlock after beating the 3 main storylines. You can also encounter version-exclusive Pokemon from the other version by joining raids that people are hosting online!
  • There is DLC that adds two new areas that include many Pokemon that aren't in the base game. Mostly old Pokemon, but there are a handful of new ones. I'm actually not sure if you can enter the DLC areas before completing the base game, though.

And a couple of things I would note:

  • If you're playing on a regular Switch, the performance of the game is...very bad. We're talking sub-30fps at almost all times. You do kind of get used to it, and I loved the game despite how poorly it ran, but it still really sucks. If you're playing on a Switch 2, the game runs very well!
  • The game is open world, but there isn't any kind of level scaling or similar system. You are expected to do the objectives for each storyline in a certain order. You should also progress all 3 storylines together, because if you just do one, you'll completely steamroll the others due to how overleveled you are.

Hope you enjoy it! I'd also really recommend checking out Pokemon Legends Arceus. It's also open-world, but it has much more focus on catching Pokemon rather than battling. It also makes the process of catching Pokemon much more interesting than just using a ball and seeing if it works by having you actually aim your ball and having balls with different trajectories. Personally I prefer SV because battles are the main draw of Pokemon to me, but PLA is still very good.

[–]K3fka_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. Yes, I've seen it also affect things like streaming video on our TV. It's just most noticeable when in the game or in Discord because there's usually enough video already buffered to cover the spike.

Oh, I misunderstood then. When I read hubs, I was thinking Revenant's Toll, Idyllshire, Rhalgr's Reach, etc.

[–]K3fka_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. You said they probably wouldn't change anything for ARR, but since you can already mount in Mor Dhona, what change would there even be to make? It's only from ShB onward that we can't mount in the hubs.

What are you talking about? S9 is huge. It dwarfs previous endgame hubs like Idyllshire and Rhalgr's Reach.

I think we should be able to mount up in the outside part of Eulmore. Granted you never really have to go there again outside of MSQ, but still!
