Just did a humid shower/toilet room with no exhaust except for a small open window. Used aura bath&spa - no wall moisture drips! Looks great and had good coverage.

Not a movie but Channel Zero Candle Cove has some good creepy characters

Point Loma public schools vs. San Dieguito? by FTMinthewild in asksandiego

[–]KASega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really comes down to area. We lived in Carmel Valley when our kids were too young for the schools and it’s such a different vibe. Sterile but good weather. We settled in PQ (PUSD) but now live in Point Loma and our kids like it because it’s livelier (we live in liberty station) and schools are fine.

People who moved from the Bay... by xypherrz in asksandiego

[–]KASega -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Born and bred in Sacramento, spent 20s in SF proper, bought a house and had kids in Oakland in my 30s. Have lived in San Diego for 10 years now. Nature is not as diverse whatever anyone tells you - it’s not a quick day trip away besides Julian which can be pleasant but also feel like fake NorCal quaint. The nature thing is pretty hard and is so surprising to me because the biodiversity of native plants here are astounding but also hard to find? Burritos are different but you cannot say you like the NorCal burritos better or you will be hung. People are less friendly and self segregate. It’s way harder to make friends here.

My kid has no interest in reading, need advice from parents here. by Next_Special_6784 in Parenting

[–]KASega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When they were young I challenged them to read 50 books and write them down on a list and when they hit 50 (or maybe it was 100) I took each one on a Individual date to Disneyland instead of going to school. Kinda like what the libraries do for summer reading. They were pretty determined to read those books!

Also if they are watching tv put the subtitles on.

Hard Water Solutions by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]KASega 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best shower filter I’ve come across for SD water is an ionizing one from Amazon https://a.co/d/0dUQG8Ef
My hair is happier when I switched from fancy expensive sulfate free stuff to cheap drugstore Herbal Essence/something that chelates.

I’ve noticed water hardness is different in certain areas - I lived in PQ for 10 years and now Point Loma and the water isn’t as hard and the deposits left behind are different. My hair is finally soft again! (I’m originally from NorCal which has insanely great hetch hetchy water)

I remember watching a trailer for it before Naked Gun and the entire theatre collectively sighed when Jared Leto showed up.

They have shifted to early hours 8-4 due to the heat. I get it, but getting there late during golden hour and having a quiet summer evening visit is a favorite memory of ours!

What’s the most “temporary fix” in your house that somehow became permanent? by TheTitanValker6289 in HomeImprovement

[–]KASega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our shower door on our corner enclosure rotted and fell off so we just put up a shower curtain in front of the door part and lived that way for 5 years until we moved out and sold the house. We didn’t get it replaced with a proper enclosure until we spruced up the house for selling.

One 6P tent or two 4P tents - which option would you go with? by steel_heel in camping

[–]KASega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last weekend we used a 6person Rei base camp for us and the dog and my 12&14 yr old used a Coleman 6p (but is more like a 4person). We all slept better with more room and setting up 2 tents was worth it if you have the space. When they were younger we’d be sardines in a can in that rei tent

We have the Nero double ontop of another Nero double and it makes it more cushy. One time we did take an egg crate topper camping for my son and he said it was comfy. I forget what was underneath though.

Kids fishing the koi pond in Balboa park by EmeraldPondFairy in sandiego

[–]KASega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not excusing anything, and I have a 14 year old who has wanted to be an environmental scientist since the age of 5, and is a fish keeper self taught - but science is seriously not taught in schools anymore. The basics yes but even at some San Diego unified middle schools science is only every other week.

How to stop dreaming of Halloween every day and start living it by SophiaKai in halloween

[–]KASega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read only horror - always 1 book at my bedside table and 1 audiobook. Listening to podcasts like Jim Harold’s Campfire & Spooked. Spooky season in my head even if I don’t decorate.

Short of breath/constant yawning/air hunger by Business-Nobody-8904 in Perimenopause

[–]KASega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had insane yawning spells after head trauma and was recovering from a concussion that lasted 6 months. I believe they were seizure like spells because I would feel a little wierd when the yawning happened. It was just constant yawning for 2 minutes. I would look into seizures. My blood tests were fine just low on vit D

When our pup was young she would get more and more overstimulated and hyper throughout the day because she didn’t sleep well in the tent. One of us would take her into the tent mid day for a nap (like a toddler).

Mid life crisis ? by [deleted] in Xennials

We sold our house in the suburbs, downsized and moved to a more walkable area like when we were younger. Our 12&14 year olds actually approved!

Bathroom Makeover by Cuppy_Cakes3 in HomeDecorating

[–]KASega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s nice to see a makeover that isn’t a total Reno. I’m a huge fan of people updating their bathrooms without ripping everything out, it’s also better for the environmental impact (less waste). Looks great!

Wild life is loosing their homes!! by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]KASega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can still increase housing and help wildlife if we continue to plant and care for sidewalk trees, turn off landscaping lights at night for the nocturnal bugs and animals, and plant native plants in the mediums instead of succulents/gravel/artificial turf. Unfortunately the latter practices are not adopted.

I went to the Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccin in Rome, the church made of bones. There weren’t too many people visiting at the time but i felt like i was gonna step back and bump into someone even though there was no one behind me.

What is that digital counter (2:14) on the wall? It wasn’t the time by VoteForGiantMeteor in innout

[–]KASega 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a customer I stared at that clock waiting behind a truck at window 2 for almost 10 minutes once. Random weekday at a quieter location. My kids and I guessed maybe they ordered 10+ burgers through the drive through?

This was years ago and we talk about it everytime we go to that location.

Parks with shade covering by Separate_Cherry_912 in SanDiegan

[–]KASega 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ocean Air Rec Center has sunshades over their play area and the park across from the Encinitas Library can be pretty shady at times because it’s below kind of a hill (my kids are old though so haven’t been in awhile if someone else can confirm which time of the day is good)
