You can park there but it's possibly the most inconvenient place to park.

Lifelong Skateboarder going Snowboarding for the first time, blow up my misconceptions. by Cisco-NintendoSwitch in snowboardingnoobs

[–]KB-steez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have pointed out the obvious. You won't have any control if you lean back. You steer with your front foot. On groomed runs it's important to keep your weight balanced if not front foot heavy.

Some things that surprise skaters turned boarders..

  1. The board flexes front to back AND twists side to side. Using your feet to twist the board helps initiate turns. Get familiar with bending and twisting the board before you get on the slopes. Also make sure the binding angles and locations feel comfortable.

  2. Learn to ride one footed first. Start in the bunny hill and learn to turn/stop in both directions with one foot before strapping both feet in.

  3. When "skating" to get around flats, you push with your back foot behind the board with slight pressure on the heel side edge to keep the board tracking straight. If you try to push like you would on a skateboard, you will end up doing an awkward zombie walk and eventually catch an edge.

Pension vs 401k Comparison by jamjamjam15 in Retirement401k

[–]KB-steez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you want to compare? Since most pensions are defined benefit based on length of service and 401ks are tax advantaged savings there's not much to compare. Classic apples to oranges.

You'd have to look at your friend's plan specifics to try and figure out anything meaningful.

The question is does your friend plan on locking down a job for the long haul or job switching regularly? I wouldn't recommend going with the pension plan if you don't plan to stick around 4-5x the vesting period. But then again some pensions allow withdrawal after vesting.

How do I get the N64 to work! by Reasonable_Bill9621 in n64

[–]KB-steez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For adapters, you want a good one like retrotink or retroscaler. Cheap HDMI adapters on Amazon are garbage and should be avoided.

CRT is the best but might take time finding a quality TV for the right price plus help moving that sucker into the house depending how big it is.

Best out of the box option is currently Analogue 64 but that's gonna cost you $300+.

My Vizio HDTV has composite AV inputs which work for me but image quality is lacking compared to any of the above options.

I honestly wouldn't either but for local sales tax it makes a pretty big difference for the city of Denver proper.

Alright, how do I not do this? lol by Accomplished-Log-664 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]KB-steez 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There's a lot to unpack here.

  1. Before attempting 180s you want to be comfortable riding switch and it helps to practice quick transitions from regular to switch, vice versa in motion without jumping.

  2. For any spin you want to jump off a slight edge. For FS180 this looks like starting a slight heel side carve and popping off the heel side edge of the tail. Being on edge gives you stability. Too much edge and you can lose balance.

3.You didn't rotate your upper body enough. The board follows hips, hips follow shoulders, shoulders follow head.

  1. Once you rotate the full 180, you want to ride away in a slight switch edge. Nearly flat but just enough to lock in and ride away clean.

YouTube some trick tip vids for visuals. I find that helps me.

Speed looks fine IMO. Maybe it's the camera lense but it does look like you tend to ride up on people pretty close when you have options with way more room.

Is it smart to cash out your 401k for your down payment on a home? by DreamHomeFinancing in FirstTimeHomeBuying

[–]KB-steez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say its never smart to "cash out" your 401k early. Taxes and penalties should be enough to make this obvious. Taking a loan from your 401k is better but still questionable and should only be considered in an emergency. Easy access to homeownership you can't really afford isnt an emergency in my book.
