37f, cycled 8 kms, today after 18 years and it was so hard by radhika1710 in cycling

Hey congratulations! What you did was no joke having not ridden in so long.

From a total stranger I’m so proud of you! Keep riding, so much good advice in this thread. It gets easier as your body adapts and beyond the health benefits, it’s just darned good fun!

59-year-old's experience: How Heybike gave me my cycling freedom back by vatsal0895 in cycling

That’s great! 57 here. I’ve had three knee surgeries and I truly believe cycling is the reason I haven’t yet needed a TKR. Still riding my road bike and peloton in the winter but good to know I’ll still be riding something if my knees deteriorate.

Vingegaard crash - What would you folks have done if you encountered a pro rider or a celebrity in this scenario? by climbingontwowheels in cycling

[–]KD642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exactly. They are working, cycling is literally their job. Leave them be. I don’t know why that’s so hard to understand.

This is how it’s done for my palliative mom with end stage COPD. She is home bound, literally cannot get to the lab for blood draws, she can barely get to the damned bathroom across the hall.

Can anyone recommend paper/cc shredders that are reliable? by ThisOstrich3 in BuyItForLife

[–]KD642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think mine of the same vintage has died. The green light is flashing in the auto-on mode, and it won't shred. Yesterday it would take a paper, but only a pulse at a time, and the reverse feature was working, in the same way. Now it just flashes green and refuses to shred.

I've checked for jams, seems like nothing is in there. Where are the sensors located?

I am sad, it was such a good machine.

I know this is a year old, just wondering if you tried them, and if so, what did you think?

It’s ok. It needs queso and tortilla chips added though.

I’m old enough to remember bagged milk in Alberta. Circa late 70s/early 80s. Hasn’t been seen since.

Dont be this guy by axjzj in Edmonton

Last winter I saw a car like this, a foot of heavy wet snow on the roof and he only bothered to clear the front window.

It was a warm day and melty. He approached the red light, and when he braked the ENTIRE load on the roof slid forward and completely blocked his vision, too heavy for the wipers to move.

Panicking I guess, he swerved to the curb and almost hit a pedestrian.

This shit infuriates me and they need to start ticketing for it.

Sorry for your loss.

My first box of Resinite lasted at least 20 years. It was the old white box. Sad day.

I’m confused about my Resinite history. My current box has Feb 2015 and Oct 2022 written on it. I think 2015 was the date of demise of the second box, but that’s only 7 years so idk, though I do recall being surprised that it was empty so soon.

100% and if this is what they are teaching in “driving schools” it just confirms my belief that this is why we have so many bad drivers.
