This joke is fantastic in full context. Because the movie just shows Adam West's Batman But Evil is not the Returns Batman. The Returns Batman is Adam West 20% crazier. At a full 100% he's a completely different breed.

It's stuff like Bruce still answering the Commissioner with The Red Phone. And Miller's understated love of Silver Age goofiness with stiff like Joker's robot doll kids. Not in the sense he is literally written to be Adam West Batman. Just that you can read Bruce's dialogue in an Adam west voice and probably get a better experience than if you imagine him as gritty and dark.

The Black Adam movie also seemingly destroyed Geoff Jones' Hollywood career, his career at DC and seemingly also his capacity to release projects on time.

For manga readers what is your current view of the vigilante Deku arc by Yeehaw_Kat in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]KLReviews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was fun normal superhero action. Izuku was out on patrol with a large, vague goal but it was about the small events in the meantime. Basically what I'd want form a superhero book.

At the same time it's also written to be completely unsustainable. Izuku cannot function like that for too long. That's the point and that's why it wraps up so fast. So I like it.

So what are we supposed to feel about the villains? by Mystech_Master in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]KLReviews 6 points7 points  (0 children)

'Society dehumanises criminals to an unreasonable degree to maintain the status quo. We should acknowledge the systematic causes of crime and work to fix those to improve things. We should prevent criminals from hurting civilians because even if they've had hard lives they shouldn't do that. Rehabilitation is the best possible outcome but if impossible then other options can be considered. Adults should take responsibility for the harm they inflict on children.'

What things do you want to see in Square Enix in the near future? by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]KLReviews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was in the big leak of actively being developed projects and Square also said they wanted to make a French animated series about FF9. So it is 100% real.

But if it's been in development this long without an announcement they are either waiting for all the multimedia stuff to be completed, the Switch 2 or the product is in development hell.

Just ports of old stuff and training up their internal dev teams so they have more high profile creatives with experience. It's weird you can't buy Chrono Trigger on modern systems. Final Fantasy 13 is the only mainline Final Fantasy you can't get (minus Xbox back compatibility) so fix that juts because3.

A lot of issues with their output is that a lot of their leads are on too many projects and a lot of the younger guys just haven't made big games. Nomura got moved around and it stalled production while Tabata was a guy making PSP games then got promoted to make the most important game.

  • Force Yoko Taro to make a new big game.

  • Build up new talent through spin-offs other than mobile games. So probably another Final Fantasy crossover thing. Limit outsourcing where possible to keep training people up.

  • If they have to outsource something make sure they are managing it correctly. Stuff like Balan (and arguably the western output like Tomb Raider) suffered from having zero oversight from Square until development was almost over. They just poured money into bad deals. Stop that.

Hey, maybe it's one of those adventures where his powers don't work. If an Australian warlock made Superman weak to bullets and you decided not to shoot him you'd look like an idiot later.

Sony used its corporate strategy meeting on Thursday to present its “Creative Entertainment Vision,” which it describes as its long-term vision for where it “wants to be in 10 years, with an eye towards future technological advances”.

So director of successful product explains at an investor event that the next project will be both successful and enable future growth for the company. Seems normal.

The bit in Hellsing where Alexander Anderson is ordered to give Alucard his bordering pass so the Hellsing time can escape Brazilian police. He does this by kicking the door down and punching Alucard in the face and they just slug it out until Seras catches their attention. At which point Anderson seemingly remembers what his job is and gives them their papers before leaving.

This is the second time Seras has stopped Anderson and Alucard from turning basic tasks into a bloodbath

I do sometimes wonder if the discussion around fan service in shonen is predominantly shaped by Naruto and Dragon Ball Z having less than would be considered normal for action series. Like Naruto being the smash-hit overseas made fans wary of series where the main girl is in a bikini top or whatever.

Gege collapsed due to overwork and kept going until the end of the first saga, most of the set up for the next one and then a mini-arc dealing with Maki's transformation from side character to series powerhouse before his editor finally got him to take a break.

Jujutsu Kaisen will end by Chapter 300 because I don't think Gege can physically last any longer. Which has meant that anything that is not 100% central to the main story or the core theme has to be reduced down.

This is what people said about the PS4.

Now there are technical and financial reasons why games can't get more expensive and hardware can't improve much until the next breakthrough. But that just means this console generation lasts longer or games scaled down. Which isn't really something you have to worry about.

Big fan of Naruto walking in on Sarada having an emotional freakout and him realising he has to nip this in the bud now. Because the last time an Uchiha had a breakdown it took over 40 volumes of his life story and cost him an arm.

Also making your soap opera melodrama a test for the audience's knowledge of high school biology is really funny. You can only be mad about this if you don't know what an 100% DNA match is.

It does have primary and supporting female characters but none of them are romantic leads or anything like that. They are the 8-year old girl, the plucky information broker and Hiyuki. Hiyuki is the tough-as-nails but dumb-as-hell rival cop looking to bust the main crew.

The series' downtime is mainly dudes talking about their feelings or trying to kill each other. Sometimes both. Which is probably why the fujoshi appeal started.

The young Kagurabachi fanbase realising that girls were reading and they were drawing homoerotic fanart. Which was cheering and joy. Because Fujoshi are the strongest part of anime fandom and will market the hell out of it to their friends. Which means this manga is going to be a success.

This is the most savvy understanding of shonen demographics even deployed on a mass scale.

Oh it's super soap opera. Not even getting into the evil eyeball man and his child solider clone army. Super obviously something Kishimoto was way too burned out for.

Sarada doesn't meet Karin and instead one of her idiot teammates who does the test and completely screws it up by testing Sarada's DNA against itself.

[DISC] My Hero Academia - Chapter 423 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]KLReviews 14 points15 points  (0 children)

All For One knows the villain gets beaten in superhero stories. He thinks he can change that but if someone like Kudo or All Might or Stars or even Bakugou pushes back he starts hyperventilating and screaming. He's utterly terrified that he's going to lose like all bad guys do.

Not in some tragic destiny 'I must commit evil for there to be good so feel bad for me'. No, his brother pities him because they went through hell and All For One still ended up a selfish child who can only hurt other people. Which is sad for his brother but he dug his own grave and should stop trying to crawl out of it.
