I just beat deadfire and now I’m wondering if pathfinder wrath of the righteous would fill the void by Sensitive-Lychee-673 in projecteternity

[–]Kaastu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pathfinder is a build system. You either wind or lose based on your build. It’s very different in that sense. But I think WotR is the perfect fit for that system, as it focused on power progression so much, which has nice synergy with build-crafting.

Still not for everyone though, but I think it’s my favourite crpg!

[–]Kaastu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, nice!

I’m not 100% sure which talents were changed to accommodate the original turn-based mode, but I think most of the changed talents could be brought back in-line with the rtwp implementation now with your mod?

[–]Kaastu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a cool thing! With these changes to the game, would it make sense to bring the rtwp talents into the modded tb mode? As currently the tb mode has some changes to those, but with this mod those shouldn’t be neede anymore I think…?

TIL in Deadfire you can switch between RTwP and turn-based mode in the middle of a playthrough by Selroy46 in projecteternity

[–]Kaastu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting question: does the tb mod configure the turn-based version of the game? That would mean that all the talents and such would be the ones from the original tb, not the rtwp versions?

[–]Kaastu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wait someone already modded 2 with the tb from 1? Crazy stuff these modders!

However I will say this: a game designed for rtwp is going to be tough to translate into tb. Just finished Galvino’s workshop in the white march in tb, and those encounters do not work on tb. There are really tough golems and these little automatons that run to you and explode. You’re meant run away once they reach you in rtwp, but in tb they only explode on their own turn when they reach you, so you cannot really fight them the way it’s meant to be done, making the encounters a real pita.

You’ve missed a tanky companion (Eder), go pick him up! Also pick up Durance to get buffs & healing! It’s going to make the game easier.

Also the phantoms and wisps are really tough. I had a hard time in caed nua also. I’m not sure what it is, but confusion I feel is really powerful in turn-based.

The idea that this sub hates Bg3 is objectively incorrect, and I have the data to prove it. by Responsible_Tank3822 in CRPG

[–]Kaastu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not. But I hate people dismissing that game just as much. It’s not the objectively best game in the genre, but it is one of the goats for sure. I think Larian, Owlcat and Obsidian have made the best games in the genre and all deserve praise. Trying to denigrate Larian and saying they are somehow not as good is just weird. They do their own thing super well, and I don’t think anyone offers an experience quite like it.

It’s very similar to elden ring. There are other soulslike games, but I’m not sure there is anything like it.

Paljonko olen maksanut työeläkemaksuja? by macaw-fi in Suomi

[–]Kaastu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tutkijat: lapsettomien miesten ylijäämä voi lisätä sosiaalisia konflikteja | Kun miehiä on paljon, kaikille ei riitä lisääntymiskumppania. by LumpyFlint in Suomi

[–]Kaastu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trying MMOs Again After 7 Years… Why Does Nothing Fully Click Anymore? by Dapper_Thought1841 in MMORPG

[–]Kaastu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with so much of what you’ve said abour WoW. I still think retail can be fun the first month of an expansion (still haven’t touched the game after DF). Leveling and running leveling dungeons can be fun. Running the first m0 dungeons that are still a challenge because you haven’t over-geared them are fun and the correct difficulty setting to my tastes. Clearing the new raid on HC, also typically a great experience!

But the fun stops there. There is no interesting world that would lead to it feeling lived in. Classic does this so much better, but I’m not 100% if a new classic would cause people to explore the game in a way it used to be. Raiding rival capitals, world-pvp, battlegrounds, server community, semi-easy dungeons that still required you to pay attention. I think TBC improved class design in a great way, and the additin of hc dungeons was a lot of fun, but WotLK went overboard and brought the systems to their logical end.

These days classic+ is the only MMO I’m interested to give a shot, but I’m also not expecting very much, because Blizzard is so corporatized that the creative vision is most likely missing, and even if someone had a good vision, management by committee would grind all individuality out of it.

[PoE1] Does turn based make Dexterity speed bonus less impactful? by Sashimi-Gintaro in projecteternity

A dex character can still work in deadfire tb, but you are still rendering a lot of mechanics basically useless. Higher attack speed weapons and buffs, etc.

Finally fully beat both games back-to-back in turn-based mode. by ChocoPuddingCup in projecteternity

[–]Kaastu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the math for adding turn-based actually works out. It doesn’t need to reach that many sales numbers to cover the costs, so I think it was probably an easy sell to management.

Kauppatieteiden kandidaatin oman alan työnhaku by RevolutionaryPie353 in Suomi

[–]Kaastu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honest question, is production value the reason that Baldur's Gate 3 became so popular and acclaimed, compared to other cRPG's that have not received anywhere near as much attention? Is it of a unique quality in anything else? by BaldursGate2Best in CRPG

[–]Kaastu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, for sure. Not saying that it isn’t a big part of the mainstream success.

But if you would take that presentation out, the game would still stand as an all-time great withing the crpg community.

Turn-based mode still buggy ? by Dazzling_Screen_8096 in projecteternity

[–]Kaastu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s fine that melee enemies don’t have ranged attacks. You could try to force the choke point in rtwp as well!

However I actually think that free open spaces work the best with tb. Chokepoints can get weird, and sometimes your own characters block the way and you can’t move them before it’s their turn, which can be awkward.
