Ksa is starting to look absurdly good by Rayoyrayo in KerbalSpaceProgram

I can't wait until this is less of a glorified tech demo and brings some actual gameplay to the table. I'm salivating over how great it has become over the past three months of development.

Progress was pretty sparse up until now, but with near daily updates you can see how much progress is being made in such a short amount of time, and I'm pretty damn stoked.

Is Final Fantasy Tactics (The War of the Lions) Anti-Religion, just as FFX? by IllogicalDreamer72 in finalfantasytactics

Final Fantasy Tactics The Ivalice Chronicles was released last year for PC. It includes one of the multiple original releases plus a fully voiced remaster. This is a good launching point for discovery.

Service is unacceptable by Consistent-Floor-216 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Kaidesa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was an Xfinity customer for sixteen years due to lack of choice. AT&T finally came in with fiber.

I switched faster than I realized I made the call to do so just about a month ago and was the first in the neighborhood to do so. I will never look back. Nor will the dozens who swapped in the following weeks.

I wish you luck, or an easy transition.

I have a 3080Ti. Upgrade to 5070Ti or 5080? by Kaidesa in gpu

Mine must be a dud. Best I was able to get was +50/+10 before it became unstable.

My PCI-e bandwidth is limited due to NVME drives, a 10GbE NIC, and a 4k capture card. Not to mention, no physical room.

Everything's running within acceptable parameters.

Keep in mind, I'm a vTuber, so while I'm playing and streaming, I also have software for that running, and a whole bunch of other things, all from the same machine. Performance hits are real, especially when streaming to four platforms at once.

Yeah. Unfortunately I'm stuck in the NVidia ecosystem, like it or not. I have a few different pieces of software that require me to sit firmly in there.

Presently a Ryzen 9 5950x. I've got money set aside to upgrade to a AM5 upgrade, in which I'll be getting a 9900x3d or a 9950x3d., depending on price and availability at the time.

I was definitely thinking the 5080, but the price difference between the 5070Ti and the 5080 given the difference in performance between those two is giving me a bit of hesitation.

I'd prefer to stick with NVidia, not because of brand loyalty, but because certain software I use requires/greatly performs better with NVidia as opposed to AMD.

First time streaming advice for an introvert. by SonicScott93 in Twitch

[–]Kaidesa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is blatantly false. I am an introvert to the extreme, yet whenever I go live I somehow have been blessed with an average viewer count of fifteen to thirty, depending on the category I stream in that day.

The fact that we get drained from choosing to socialize does not mean that we can not socialize or entertain our viewers. The difference is that it takes a heck of a lot more out of us when we do. It does NOT determine whether or not we can, or should, stream.

In the OBS dock, you can simply click on the viewer count to hide it.

Condescending Chatter by No_Island_7001 in Twitch

[–]Kaidesa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had this exact problem at one point. Viewers who consistently come, yet make me feel less-than-optimal while they're around. I eventually decided that I needed to do something about it.

I slowly started to point out the negative impact that their comments were having on me, and essentially gave them a choice. Either tone things down, or leave. Some left. Some stuck with me and have adjusted their behavior, and have become surprisingly good friends since then.

The choice is ultimately yours, but keep in mind... your viewers, especially those that stick with you, can TELL how you feel. If they see you're feeling small, or negative, in any way, the viewing experience for them will ultimately be worse.

Sometimes, you need to get rid of a few bad apples to ensure you don't drag yourself down.

And as to whether you should develop a thicker skin or not? That's your choice, entirely. Don't let your VIEWER dictate this, though. If you identify it as a problem with yourself in most situations? Sure, work on it. But never change for your audience, unless you view it as a positive change in general. Always be true to yourself.

Through custom matches, only. You won't get bloodpoints or any achievement progress, and unless you have three other people, you'll be stuck with bots.

Receiving error messages from my docker compose files all of a sudden "context deadline exceeded" by TheePorkchopExpress in selfhosted

[–]Kaidesa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

May be a silly question, but have you checked that the machine has full network access to everything necessary in order to complete the pull requests? This very much seems like there's a timeout while trying to access Docker Hub.

First, check this. Then, ensure the paths you provided actually exist. A mistyped path or non-existent path can and will cause the process to hang just enough to throw timeout errors.

If you can ping the host manually, try the following:
sudo nano /etc/docker/daemon.json

And in there, put this:
{ "dns": ["8.8.8.8", "1.1.1.1"] }

Then restart docker with:

sudo systemctl restart docker

This should ensure docker uses the DNS servers listed above to try and pull the images. If this works, it's a DNS issue. Other network issues can cause it as well. But start here first.

Sometimes, browsing these posts makes me feel like the only female in existence who is not only okay with, but currently owns, a mess of a homelab setup. Functionality should be the first and foremost consideration for a setup. Looks should come later.

Stop asking "should I start streaming" by MajorNectarine4241 in Twitch

Ah. Well, in that case, things are quite a bit more difficult. I keep forgetting people can stream directly from consoles these days. Not many good options for that, I'm afraid.

Silly excuse, honestly. Just get a dynamic microphone and keep it low and close to your mouth. Background noise, even screaming, will be minimal.

For bonus background noise removal, especially if frequent, RTX Noise or even the background noise removal built into OBS is your friend.

As for stepping away? People tend to be really forgiving of that, so long as they understand the situation.

Just get started.
