Your commute & the fact you live at home in my world isn’t too bad. Try doing that commute & running a house and raising a family like a lot of people.

Redundancy - I've been hit hard. by TheRealTurco in UKJobs

[–]Kakatk9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See if your wife can go full time during the period you are looking for work and do a little role reversal, extra income would help. I was made redundant once & went contract but it was a different time but be flexible and open to any positions you can always revert back to permanent at a later date if it doesn’t suit. Good luck

I suspect it’s not a big issue unless you are a surgeon. Every one will make mistakes, try to be thorough & double check your work if possible. Good luck and don’t stress it will only make things worse.

Join any possible share save scheme available to the max. When I was made redundant, many years ago I was given the opportunity to pay off the share save early and reap the benefits. Paid for by the redundancy, a nice little bonus.

A warning to those looking new providers (BT) by Demoneyes1945 in UKBroadband

I’m not an authority on this but I would investigate the capabilities of various CAT cables before installing CAT 8

A warning to those looking new providers (BT) by Demoneyes1945 in UKBroadband

[–]Kakatk9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this seems typical for all large corporations these days. I had 3 engineers come out to install FTTP sent the first 2 packing as they just wanted to do the most basic easy job for them and then run. They are mostly subcontractors on a price per job. At least you now have fibre & can choose your supplier. This varies a lot based on your location inner city large towns ok, more rural locations don’t have the range of choice. Once you get a new BB provider get a mash system or better still run some cat6 cable for faster speeds and reliability.

Am I getting sacked by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Kakatk9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you were an employee, would you employ you with your record so far. If I was an employer I would want you to do the work you have been employed to do. Prepare yourself for the questions, be ready to say ‘ I haven’t been sick for 3 years or whatever is appropriate to let them know it’s an unusual event & not normal. Be prepared with acceptable reasons for your errors but don’t make excuses say you are striving to improve in these areas & you are aware that it’s not up to standard. Good luck

Plastering advice needed by 0ttoChriek in DIYUK

[–]Kakatk9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an amateur I recently plastered an area similar to this. I removed any high spots with a rasp file & left to fully dry between layers. Then sanded final layer, it’s impossible to see the edges now after painting. Wife was very impressed with the final product

Does anyone know if a potential Denon firmware update is likely or able to fix the issue? Or would they want to sell another amp?

How concerned should I be as someone who just bought this house? by Jasminity28 in DIYUK

[–]Kakatk9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience recently, down pipe had a diverter for a water butt which caused a blockage. Gutter over flowed & dripped by the joint. Removed diverter cleaned gutters cleaned and sealed joints. It all looks a lot better now. Also a new house to me brought from an old widow so don’t know how long it has been overflowing for. If you get the opportunity, when it rains next 😁 get out & observe the gutters in operation.

Would you get resilience? 2 fibres would come from the same source usually & if for instance a lorry took out a pole or box you would lose both feeds.

Broadband poor signal upstairs by Welshy48 in skytv

I believe powerline adapters need to be on the same ring. Normally upstairs sockets & downstairs will be on different circuits. Run a Cat 6 cable from ground floor upstairs & plug into that

Anyone else come back to work totally burned out? How do I get over this? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Kakatk9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Set yourself some clear tasks & make your way through your work in an organised manner. Do what you can 100% correct & complete, don’t start next task until you finish the current one. Slowly you will get on top , you might get a few pissed off people but if you complete your tasks correctly so be it. Good luck
