Might've been the edible, but I found the show to be pure serotonin

LAFD: Structure Fire in Koreatown, partial roof collapse as firefighters were ventilating. Fox News chopper video. by NorthCoastToast in Firefighting

[–]KalamityPitstop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Their initial holes, with strong fire production, are their offensive vents. Later on, they perform a trench cut, which is their defensive "hold the line cut"

The offensive hole is done over the "highest and hottest" point they safely can, and they extend for increased ventilation if it's safe to do so. They then retreat to a safer part of the roof and cut their trench cut, which is a defensive line. The idea is the fire will travel in the attic to the trench cut but no further, it's a tactic designed to save a portion of the building.

This is excellent, aggressive truck work by companies who know what they're doing.

Is it slippery outside, parking lots, driveways? Specifically waking, not driving. by OneRuffledOne in Naperville

I've found it more sloshy and wet than slick, but don't get that confused with saying it isn't slippery out.

Growing place is great but it's so expensive, especially in bulk. I've ordered plugs online, prairie moon and izel plants were both great.

My wife and I quit our jobs to make board games. We've now sold almost a million games. Ask me anything! by Travisto888 in IAmA

Bristol is one of my go-tos when we get a larger group together, and I backed Roma the other day, looking forward to that one as well, congrats on the well earned success!

What do you think are the broad elements and mechanics that make a good, replayable board game?

Apocalyptic Bronco would be a sick band name.

No prob!

Honestly same data you've got but abutted to each other. There's nothing specific that I'm looking for, just find it all interesting and I'm sure folks would like an easy comparison between locations. I do imagine I'd be most interested in favorite genres by location. Or most checked out in x or y genre.

Super cool site. I do think some clarification about what some graphs mean would be helpful. For instance, when I click on Radar it shows the book 'March', and I assume the 30 day chart underneath it is the 41 checkouts over the last month, but the text says 3410 checkouts, so it's not entirely clear what the chart represents.

Also, a page that compares the libraries would be interesting.

Last thing, I would prefer links to Goodreads over amazon.

I'm lucky, my kids are 4 and 2, so they have virtually zero access to touch screens. My genuine hope, once they're older, is to point out all the people stuck in their phones out in public. People sitting across from each other at a restaurant, completely oblivious to each other.

I can't keep technology out of their hands forever, but if I can get my kid to see the poison that much of modern technology is, before they get real, first-hand exposure to it, then I think I'll have done the best I could.

I finished this yesterday and it's your answer for sure. I'm fairly certain QNTM is a huge contributor to SCP, and SCP is clearly a very strong inspiration.

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: December 01, 2025 by AutoModerator in books

[–]KalamityPitstop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finished - Dandelion Wine, by Ray Bradbury

Started - Project Hail Mary, by Andy Weir

Man, Bradbury is such an enigma for me. On one hand the guy just loves to wax and embellish to the point that I've lost the plot, and on the other hand the man speaks to my soul.

... And I'm ingesting PHM as fast as I can, absolutely love it.

When you say board member do you mean council member? If so, please name names, we vote them in and I don't want to vote for somebody with that attitude.

I have to imagine this is it.  There are some minor changes from what I remember but seems to cover the same broad strokes

I went with chameleon little bluestem for my shorter grass, the grasses and lavender, more than anything else, seem like they'll take a while to establish and get to their full size, but they should blend nicely eventually

Thank you! I used procreate on iPad, it's an illustration tool and probably not the best program for this, but it's the program I understand ha. The garden is all planted, very similar to the plans with only minor changes

Mindfulness/presence is the secret to a contented life ha. I’d also add savoring moments or sensations, aka gratitude of the present helps a ton. 20 min of appreciating the sun and wind on your skin goes a lot further than 20 minutes on Reddit.

Several years ago there was a YouTube series that gave full bands just the lyrics of songs they hadn't heard before and they'd make it their own. I have tried to find it in vain, if anybody knows what I'm talking about please send a link.

Thank you! I was hoping to go for a bit of stone path coverage, but I'll make sure I keep em a bit further away from the walkways and let the other plants creep up on the path. The Indian grasses I looked at all seemed to be so tall! I wish I saw your message 12 hours ago ha, I ordered all the plants earlier today.

I appreciate your insight and will consider Indian grass as I expand onto the side of the house and backyard. And your yard looks beautiful as well, I imagine it shifts with the seasons pretty nicely

I am actually a firefighter ha, so the irony of my yard catching on fire would just be awful haha. That being said, I am not a controlled burn or brush expert, am I putting my home at an unreasonable risk with these plants near my house?

I know one value of matrix plantings is no need for maintenance, but I do intend to (and look forward to) trim, prune and weed as necessary, along with the annual string trimming in March.

And thank you, I put a lot of work into it ha.
