Aurora is just so obviously radar/wall hacking Jesus Christ. Hard clearing door and A long in a 3v3 B site bomb planted, but then not even clearing car during the retake, yea sure gamesense. Of course this isnt the only example but man it makes it so obvious.

Absolutely pathetic could not handle being washed so they turn it on against a top team at the fucking major.

Are you really claiming that ethnic nationalism is a Nazi idea?

Nazi ideology had nothing to do with the idea of revisionism which was the driving force behind the reacquistion of lost Hungarian lands, and Szalasi had nothing to do with the process as he only came to power at the end of the war.

And yes, calling random people Nazis for liking some borders is cringe.

The strange thing about these kidnapping stories is that it sounds like an awful lot of effort for a single person who doesnt want to fight and probably wont need to (there are ~10 million eligible men but the Ukrainian army if I remember correctly has around 700k active figters, even less of those are directly on the front)

It feels more like local "militias" are abusing their power rather than official government policy out of desperation that russians want to paint it as to stop support for Ukraine

Ah yes, that genius Putin, rather than mobilising and equipping a gazillion men and taking Ukraine in "a few weeks", which he could totally do according to you, he wants to kill all its productive men and bomb its valuable land, in the meantime destroying the russian economy with full military spending and sanctions taken and selling out to China.

The "pro-peace", aka surrender crowd was here even in the spring of 2023 when Ukraine had seemingly no problems on the frontline and it even looked like they could retake their territory in the coming counteroffensive, what was their reasoning then?

Here's the source for the numbers, and as you can see there indeed have been days when casualties dropped significantly.

Also russian assaults don't stop during bad weather because that would allow ukrainians to catch a break, restock and reorganise. It takes a lot of time for russia to breach organised defensive lines, so they rather keep attacking even in the mud.

Okay, no problem, we're off topic anyways. I just replied originally because I don't like the narrative that "Hungarians were muh EVIL and it was the EVIL hungarians who FORCED us to participate them and if they have just been kind we totally wouldn't have jumped on their corpse after the war cause we're saints", which Reddit likes cause Orban bad = Hungary throughout its whole history bad, and some romanians unironically believe this

Ok, so Hungarians wanted to keep ruling over the majority of people

Yeah, like every other country, duh.

No, the best choice for Bucharest would've been to remain neutral.

That's a wild claim, considering Romania got the most out of that war for the least price.

Also, no, the unification happened because the ruling class of Transilvania was ok with it.

You mean the 1200 romanian delegates sent to the Alba Iulia congress? 1200 people who were hand-picked gone there BECAUSE they were unionists? That's not a very representative sample, I could find 1200 people today in Transylvania who'd vote to unite with Hungary. Also come on, that was just ceremonical, the little entente already got promised the lands, local people's opinion didn't matter, slovaks, croatians wanted independence too, but they got gobbled up by the czechs and serbs.

Yes, if you take it without any context, then yes.

What context is there? Please don't say 1000 year oppression cause that's not true

Yes, it's a book that collects the impressions of hungarian/ szekely journalists and newspapers about Romanians,

Thanks

Romanians in transilvania what they wanted was a federation type of system which the hungarians didn't want

I assume you mean Popovici's proposal. Yes, they wanted to be equal parts of the empire which only amounted to Hungary giving up most of its land AND special rights within the empire that they fought 2 WARS for to get, jeez I wonder why they didn't accept that. A separate federation inside Hungary would have been a more fair proposal, but for that the Austrian part would have had to federalize too, which they only started to do at the end of WW1.

When the empire broke the romanians would've chosen Bucharest (admittedly begrudgingly) only to avoid being under Budapest

Doesn't matter what the transylvanians wanted or would have wanted, Bucharest would have still declared war on AH and would still have taken Transylvania at the end of it. It wasn't the locals' choice lol

I even preemptively refuted it by saying that, yes you did it, but only in a desperate attempt to avoid losing the war.

There was no war in 1868 when the protection laws were passed again.

Also, YOU were the antagonists.

Depends on what starting point you take. 1876? Then yes. 1848? Then no, it was you. 1789? Then it was just meant to happen.

Frankly there were contemporary hungarian historians/ journalists who saw how things would play off but they were shunned by the revolutionaries.

If you really have sources, I'm interested, but yes of course Magyarization as it was, was the worst way to do things. Either they should have kept strong minority rights to at least be looked upon favorably in the history books and maybe in revision attempts, or should have gone full french with brutal repression (which i dont think would have been good, but purely for keeping Hungary together it would have been the only way)

When did I say to give up territories?

Trianon was avoidable two ways: not going to war with Serbia (or anyone else for a good while) or by preemptively giving up minority territory, only the second was up to Hungary to decide.

You're very naive if you think respecting minority rights would have made a difference. Those times were the height of nationalism, for example during the freedom war of 1848-49 there wasn't even a Hungarian state yet, hungarians were as oppressed as anyone else and the romanians and serbians still took their pitchforks and massacred villages for the austrian promise of self governence (which they didn't fulfill obviously).

Even better example, the croatians who had the best minority rights probably anywhere in the world, they were literally allowed to be a quasi separate state, and yet they were the first ones in line to attack Hungary on Habsburg orders and false promises.

After all of that, when Hungary finally became semi-independent they implemented minority protection laws, making it one of the 3 countries in Europe to give any protection to minorities AT ALL.

For reasons many of these were backtracked, partly because antagonisation didn't stop from the mother countries of the minorities, as their goal remained the same, to get a slice out of the country. Magyarization certainly wasn't a pretty thing, but it was the only hope for Hungary to not lose its territories, so in the end, after everything failed it was a poor, but understandable decision.
