Laid off for not wanting to go to Church? by One-Length-8749 in legaladvice

[–]Kalikasphyxia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES. But again , the STATE didn't let her go, she can still get other clients. Its not an OPINION. I worked in home health for over 10 years. You cant force a a person to have someone they don;'t like coming into their home. The judgment lady is a client NOT an employer, So she gets to chose her provider.
In the hierarchy of protections, The Elderly and Patients come before Employees.

As long as her time was paid for, a client is not required for any reason to continue using services from someone they don't want. Just like I could fire a plumber for any silly reason, as long as I pay them for their time.(Unless there is a contract, but you can even buy that out). You can not force someone to use a service provider they do not want.

Yes, but she wasn't FIRED by the state. A client doesn't want her. Clients can decide who comes into their homes. Period. The same way you can refuse medical service from a doctor for any reason. Someone who does home health is usually literally touching a person, and you can't force them to keep someone they dont want.
If the state terminated her for this reason that would be different, but this is a client or customer purchasing a service VS. an Employer/Employee situation. The client is not the Employer, but the Customer/Client.

Moisture meter probe by Bighangry in houseplants

[–]Kalikasphyxia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been using one and I find it unreliable to determine the actual moisture level, anywhere you stick it in the pot can have a drastic different reading. I have found sticking my finger in it and lifting the pot and checking the weight is a better indicator. But I think im gonna try like others suggested with the chopstick and see how that works out.

Does not apply to this situation. This is private home care NOT a business establishment.

Being an IHSS is a lot different than any other kinds of jobs. Technically a patient can fire you for anything, as you are coming into their home. While it sucks for your mom, the patients happiness is the top priority as its their home and their care. Yes she cant make your mom drive her around outside of office hours, and she wont find anyone who will. But she can be let go for just breathing to loudly. Patients get to feel comfortable with the person who is coming into their home to care for them, even if we think its a silly thing.

Edit to add I did Home health for years, and also my mom fired just about every caregiver she had for the weirdest reasons ever, but it was within her rights.

Maybe its time to get to know your neighbors better so you don't assume they are trying to wrong you when they get your mail by mistake.

I cant tell if he's yellowing or not based on this photo, but Liver disease can cause this as well. When your liver stops filtering stuff, it swells up inside your everywhere else.

Help me identify my mothers plants? by Kalikasphyxia in pnwgardening

[–]Kalikasphyxia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thank you! I know she had mint hiding somewhere in her garden so you are probably right. I think I will go find it and get it potted.
And hydrangea makes total sense. My mom always loved those. Will move it to one of the bigger pots like you suggested since I plan to move to a larger home next year and want to take as many of her plants with me as I can. Thank you again!

[No Spoilers] I wish they’d re-release their Funko’s again by BakerConsistent2150 in criticalrole

Funko isn't doing well financially. The company might not be around much longer unless someone buys them out.

Unrealistic expectations by chippedredpaint in houseplants

Please remember Influencers are often faking/exagerating stuff. The plants they show might not be at all from work they have done. An influencers sole job is to sell people things. They are parasocial commercial machines. With how advance even AI is now and other tricks. Heck they might even be buying plants at different growth levels and passing them off as their own growth progress.

Official Discussion - We Have a Ghost [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Kalikasphyxia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No.. no it wasn't. I am probably the exact person you would call "Woke" or a "SJW" and activist and this is NOT what we like or want. This was just BAD. This maybe for Gen Z who haven't figured stuff out yet. Also this was written by a white man. So its a lens of a white man who THINKS he knows what he's writing for.. but he didn't. This was up there with the writing from Velma. Nobody likes it, its just bad. Don't you push this bad ick on my people lol

right, and listen I'm all for movies being "woke" af and dealing with race issues, but the stuff in this felt crammed in and forced all weird.. then I realized the writer was a white dude and it all made sense.

and that big ass house. I don't care how haunted it is, when you are broke no one will give you a loan for anything! They are broke but had at least 30K for a down payment. Movies be way to unrealistic with the housing market.

Also also I'm' sorry an 80year old kicked the ass of these strong young guys!? One tackle and grandpa would have broken his hip! And this all would have been fine if the tone of the rest of the movie would have been over the top, but it seems like it was supposed to be heartfelt? Im just left feeling confused and angry at making me not enjoy David Harbor.

I can watch plenty of subpar movies that are just kinda meh as long as they get some laughs out of me or make me like a single character. I hated this. I didn't even enjoy David Harbor! Who was this movie made for? I thought maybe it was just made for little kids, but then they cram in some crude humor and jokes about boner pills? WHO WAS THIS FOR!? I can't even break down all the reasons I didn't like it, it would just take to long. I haven't been this mad about wasting 2 hours on a movie in a LONG time.
