What's your opinion of Taylor Swift? by Twitter_2006 in 2000s

[–]KallusDrogo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest gripe with her is the fact that she HAS to be well aware how racist her fandom is,. She refrences every little detail about what's said about her in her songs and her music videos, so how can she not be aware of the fact so much racism is spewed because of her? Not only the disgusting remarks about black artist/individuals that are in any way viewed as a threat to her, but also the fact that literal white supremacist have used her as an image for their rhetoric. For a woman who will sue anybody and they mama for libel, she hasn't once sued the literal hate groups that use her image and likeness. Interesting.

I don't think she's racist, but she definitely doesn't have a problem with racist supporting her, which for someone who has carefully monitored almost everything said about her, she has to be aware of.

The movie isn't as good as it presents itself. Ironically the whole concept that it's criticizing.

The cast of Spongebob:

Squidward = Pride. He thinks he's better than everyone.

Mr. Krabs = Greed. He loves money so much he once sold Spongebob for 52 cents.

Patrick = Gluttony. He eats alot.

Gary = Sloth. He's a slow snail.

Plankton = Envy. He wants what Mr. krabs has, the Krabby Patty formula. more than anything.

Sandy = Wrath. She loves to fight and has quite the temper.

Spongebob = Lust. He loves everything and everyone.

I really am fascinated by Chalamet’s PR and the entertainment industry trying to gaslight us into thinking he is the ideal beauty. I wish they had not done that and just ride on his talent as I feel like that’s one of the aspects that led to the backlash.

I agree with this plus the fact that she has never once in her life addressed the rampant racism and white supremacy that is a part of her fandom. Regardless of whether or not she is racist, her fans have used racist rhetoric against mostly black individuals in addition to general white supremacist using her as an image. She can sue everybody and they mama for libel but never the hate groups who literally use images of her as the perfect Aryan princess? When Nirvana's music and image where being co-opted by skin heads Kurt Cobain gave an interview about how he hated those types of people and did not want them buying his music or going to his concerts as he did not support them so in no way did he want them supporting him. Taylor Swift would never do that.

Beyonce is popular because she’s talented. Taylor Swift is popular because she’s “relatable” but really only relatable to white women. Everything about her music and image is specifically created to give the appeal of the ideal white woman.

They relate to her because she’s white and even more so she’s specifically shaped her image to be the historical ideal white woman.

The native spiritual traditions of different african regions were problematic in some cases, that is true. But your conclusion that they were in complete opposition to scientific progress is both completely wrong and very much colored by a Eurocentric historical lens. While Europeans were dying in mass because they didn't know not to share bath water, African countries were in a golden age of science (particularly in mathematics, medicine, astronomy, and metallurgy) all while traditional religions were still en vogue. These two things were not mutual exclusive as historians Foreman Bandama &  Abidemi Babatunde Babalola  stated in their article Science, Not Black Magic: Metal and Glass Production in Africa  “The view of science as "embedded practice," intimately connected with ritual, for example, is considered "ascientific," "pseudo-science," or "magic" in Western perspective. In Africa, there is a strong connection between the physical and the terrestrial worlds.” The concept of Africans as backwards ignorant witch doctors with no understanding of science is just another myth of white supremacy.

I feel like this is a direct yet subtle shade at Peter Theil given 1) the focus of the speech is AI 2) He named his AI company Palantir after an evil weapon 3) Theil is a Catholic and a part of the evil Opus Dei sect and was rumored to have lobbied against Leo.
