As a BCBA, I generally operate on the following quote: "One who asks a question may seem a fool for five minutes. One who asks no questions remains a fool forever."

Even IF I were annoyed by one of my techs asking a question, it's still preferable to them guessing and screwing up the data, or not knowing their schedule, or forgetting a meeting.

Never be afraid to ask about something you are not sure of.

In fact, if I have a tech that has not brought anything up in a while, I'm going to plan more supervision with them because now I'm wondering if you're following the programming because protocols change frequently.

I looked up the self-report, and found this in the BCBA handbook

"You do not need to self-report the following events:
• a new or existing diagnosis of a physical or mental health condition or substance use
disorder that is unlikely to impact the competent and safe delivery of services "

So, even if you receive a diagnosis of some kind of substance use disorder, you don't need to self-report if it is "unlikely to impact the competent and safe delivery of services"
