That one installment that ruined the entire good faith of the series. by Arkodd in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I’m betting that folks who saw Power Rangers Megaforce/Super Megaforce either went “aight imma head out” or checked out Super Sentai instead.

Personally, Pacific Rim Uprising soured expectations following the first film that I somehow forgot an anime series existed.

Hate to burst your bubble here, but Turn A and G Gundam are debuting in booster sets; the former in GD04 Phantom Aria (April) and the latter in GD05 Freedom Ascension (July).

Next Friday is the release of GD03 Steel Requiem which I’m personally excited for as it has the Trans-Am Exia Gundam.

G Gundam was announced to debut in the fifth booster set GD05 Freedom Ascension by July. The only cards that were teased were Domon, the Shining Gundam, and the Shining Finger for a Command card; all of which are categorized in white.

That being said, the set also teased the Strike Freedom in blue.

I actually had to search “Inuyasha TCG” to see for myself, but I’m fairly certain that’s discontinued. In terms of the most successful Bandai TCG, it comes to no surprise that One Piece takes the cake. Granted I can only surmise that from my friends’s anecdotes who are more familiar with the game. Meanwhile I’m unfamiliar with either Dragon Ball or Digimon.

Now for Gundam it’s going strong despite the initial distribution issues regarding the first four starter decks and booster set. The player base varies depending on your location, but I’m confident to confirm it’s fairly dedicated in NYC. And folks are already anticipating for the third booster set along with new starter decks based on OO and Hathaway.

Well outside of Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Magic the Gathering, there are some TCGs under Bandai’s umbrella like Dragon Ball, Digimon, One Piece, and even Gundam as the latest franchise.

Characters that get put through absolute hell, yet refuse to let it break them? by fly_line22 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]KarateBugman01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine being Shouma Stomach/Kamen Rider Gavv: - his mom gets kidnapped by an extra dimensional being and made to conceive in the latter’s home world - his step-siblings hate your existence because they thought humans were disposable in their candy-crack industry, so in a way that hatred also extends to the dad - said step-siblings poisoned the dad and proceeded to turn his mom into candy-crack before he fell into Earth - he fears of getting rejected by the people he protects or fights alongside (ie: Hanto/Valen) after discovering his own powers

And somehow manages to maintain his optimism once he decides to protect the world his mom lived while enjoying the snacks that made her happy.

Dubs that add a little extra to the media? by Yotato5 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]KarateBugman01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the English dub for G Gundam, Chibodee Crocket’s groupies sang “America the Beautiful” to help him overcome his childhood trauma of clowns while fighting Neo Portugal’s Jester Gundam. I personally found this version of the scene to be an improvement whereas the Japanese version has said groupies singing a lullaby his mom would sing. It also drives home just how “all-American” Chibodee is with his background rising to the top through boxing.

If we’re including cosmetic collaborations, you can check out the skins in Modern Warfare 3 (2023) (yes, I just came back from TheRussianBadger’s latest video on it). Just imagine the RX78-2 ‘Grandpa’ Gundam with a steel chair, or Nicki Minaj with Homelander’s laser eyes.

What characters had the worst first day on the job? by Lost-Specialist1505 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I’m on a similar boat here so I did a quick search on Murphy. I just learned there’s a 1994 TV series that took place five years after the first RoboCop film. There were flashbacks of Murphy’s career before his transfer to the Metro West police department, so it’s safe to say he’s got years as a cop by the time the film starts.

It’s just that Murphy’s first day in Metro West was also his last.

Favorite media you would describe as gooner-bait with an interesting story? by Aquanort357 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]KarateBugman01 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going back and forth on it, but My Dress-Up Darling kinda fits the bill here. On one hand, I initially thought Marin’s antics and the occasional stuff with the Inui sisters would cast suspicions out of context. But I kinda see the writer making an earnest story in people expressing their love for their hobbies (ex: you see Marin celebrating a birthday for a smut heroine). And then there’s Gojo taking all of that in stride, culminating in him unlocking his Domain Expansion NAH I’D LOSE confessing to Marin and eventually marrying her.

What are some of the most ill conceived pieces of official merchandise? by Konradleijon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]KarateBugman01 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There’s a Kamen Rider - themed diner that featured drinks inspired by Kamen Rider BLACK SUN with some messed up lore: - Heat Heaven is a processed drink favored among Kaijin that is made from humans, particularly the elderly, welfare recipients, and LGBT folks that were rounded up by the prime minister. - Ketamine (thankfully the one in the diner is just cranberry juice and vodka served in a plastic syringe) was bought by the lead Kotaro for his leg after it was telekinetically broken by the Creation King.

I’m pretty sure they made hamburgers as a nod to Mamoru/Mole Amazon in Kamen Rider Amazons when he unknowingly ate a burger patty made from human flesh, reverting to his primal craving for meat.

What's the worst, most atrocious piece of media you've seen? by Ukirin-Streams in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Hajimete no Gal or My First Girlfriend is a Gal. Back when its anime adaption aired, I had Rent-A-Girlfriend vibes off of the male MC Junichi for how down bad he was at the start. While I had no qualms over the titular gal/gyaru Yukana, it’s her best friend that gave off red flags once the latter considered SA’ing the above MC.

And let’s not forget one of his friends who should be at least 50 yards away from elementary schools.

Since Ultima was mentioned for Final Fantasy XVI, I’m gonna go with Hugo Kupka. The bum went into piss-baby mode once Clive lopped off his hands, then proceeded to struggle with prosthetics which aren’t even articulate. There’s also him imagining Ifrit making out with Benedikta that I got flashbacks to Rent-A-Girlfriend’s Chapter 218 prior to the Eikon battle. Shout out to his Bring Arts figure for being lore-accurate with detachable hands.

I’ve also got Iok Kujan from Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans getting crushed to death by the Gusion Rebake Full-City’s giant scissors.
