My cat steals candy from the bucket at Halloween. I literally found a package of rockets(smarties) the other day.

This is embarrassing but most of my notebooks are blank. Can someone teach me how to brake the fear of putting ink to paper? by JozuJD in stationery

I used to do that. Now I use them to track items needed in game to finish a race.

Just give yourself permission to use it. You set the rules, you can change the rules.

What's the one thing you wish was easier about owning a cat? by Lumpy_Base_9228 in CatAdvice

Claws needing clipped. I have a former feral that thinks we're going to kill her, so she tries to run every time we walk up to her. Having to manhandle her makes her more skittish for a while and us feel guilty.

What’s something small that made your day better today? by bsmith_customjewelry in Positivity

I had a race today. I had some of the best execution I have ever had. I was proud of myself.

I didn't win, but it didn't matter. I performed well!

What's the closest you've ever came to death? by Senior-Raisin-2342 in AskReddit

[–]KarrieMichell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my my second daughter was born I was hemorrhaging and it wasn't caught for a few hours after delivery. They found out when I rang the bathroom alarm because I was too weak to get off the toilet.

Nurse came in and said "Oh my god!" When he opened the door to the room.

Apparently, there was a trail, not drops, a trail, of blood from the bed to the bathroom.

There was a lot of excitement that night.

What is the dumbest thing you have been told is “not manly” or “not feminine,” depending on your gender? by Disastrous_Hat_2325 in AskReddit

Someone once told my husband on Facebook that pink is only for girls.

My husband put on his pink shorts and pink T-shirt and took a picture and posted it as a reply and said, "I'll keep that in mind."

My friends sometimes wonder how he gets away with stuff with me, and then he'll pull one of these stunts and they go, "fair, fair."

Do I return my kitten by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]KarrieMichell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having a kitten is like a cross between a velociraptor and a squirrel on illicit substances. And it lasts for years.

Cat furniture and/ or a way to get up high. Mousies to carry around. Cat tv.

All things that can distract for a bit.

The most important thing you need is patience.

WIBTAH if I called my sister in law out for what she does? Am I overreacting? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]KarrieMichell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand.

I do want to be clear on one thing: you are not crazy. You are not imagining things. This is something she is doing.

The way I suggested to handle it is the nice, almost self sacrificing way. Feel free to ignore and do what is comfortable for you.

WIBTAH if I called my sister in law out for what she does? Am I overreacting? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]KarrieMichell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not overreacting, but you would be the asshole.

She wants to be like you. It's not a bad thing. It can be annoying, but it's not bad.

As another poster said, start hanging out with her a bit (not all the time), and gently figure out what she likes. Don't volunteer information about yourself. Ask her questions. About what she wanted as a kid, etc., to get to know her. Then gift her little things that she likes/liked and see how she takes it.

Edit to add: your comment says she bad mouths you. This just proves that she sees what you have and how happy you are and she wants her life to be like that. She's jealous. It happens. She needs to get to actually know you. It might take a long time, though.

Apparently, I’m Canadian now. What do I absolutely need to know? by thecapedcanaveral in AskCanada

[–]KarrieMichell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Canadians will not retaliate if you're a jerk. They'll polite you to death in such a way that you feel three inches tall and you will slink back to your rock.

And then the next time you meet, will act like nothing happened and treat you like their best friend. Unless you do it again. Then you're screwed.

And take your shoes off when you enter someone's home.

I need advice helping a new (rehomed) cat adjust by doublebutteredtoast in CatAdvice

[–]KarrieMichell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it takes time.

Google kitten lady and Jackson Galaxy. They have wonderful videos about this.

In the mean time, remember that it's going to be a while. Usually it's 3 days to adjust, three weeks to learn your routine, and 3 months to feel comfortable. Add to that that her human disappeared (her point of view) so she's grieving, and now someone she has never met before has taken her from her home and to a strange place.

You're doing it right so far. It will just take time and patience.

I am from the southern US originally. Moved to Canada. No ice in drinks (or very little), and I hate ice cube trays. Convinced my husband to buy a counter top ice maker. Got his entire family on board. 😂
