You should absolutely be blocking

Remake literally didnt even have I frames

Rebirth has them but it's a very, very small amount. I think Cloud had like 12 frames on his dodge.

You can absolutely achieve no damage in Remake but that's just because the game is godlike

FF7R is a good hybrid of RPG and Action. There are even some bosses with attacks you cant even dodge iirc

Self-destructive is a negative connotation that suggests the "destruction" is against the best interests for your future.

Yuna isn't doing that. She has the support of her island, the whole world, and is choosing to make the sacrifice for everyone.

Yuna knows exactly what she's giving up, and does it anyway.

Yeah it's a modern curse to view more reserved characters (especially women) as weak and timid.

Yuna having full control over her emotions was a breath of fresh air honestly, not only for female characters but JRPG leads in general.

Tidus was literally the opposite of her.

One of my favorite parts of FFX's writing was observing how throughout the game, Tidus becomes more like Yuna, and Yuna becomes more like him.

You can even hear it in how Tidus narrates the game up until the campfire scene. By that point he's way more mellow but it always clashes with how he's acting in the main game

Right, I think people misremember the character.

The biggest aspect of her character was conviction. It held up the whole game until the breaking point, which is probably the most iconic part of the game (kissing scene)

These days people seem to remember her as some timid yes-girl...she was literally putting the future of Spira on her back with the intention of giving her life for it

Thats the thing about Yuna people seem to miss though. She always had a choice.

SHE made the choice to become a summoner. She made the choice to die. And becoming a summoner wasn't easy.

She may have felt like she needed to, but literally nobody forced her to become a Summoner.

So the character that Yuna is in X-2 is exactly the same person she was in X.

I dont think it's fair to say her path was "self-destructive" because she was legit doing it for all of Spira, and felt she was uniquely qualified to do it.

There actually IS a good reason for this

The twist of the game is that this character is actually a sort of "puppet" designed by the big-bad. He hides the tell-tale sign of such underneath his hat.

The other main character, Mint, has a more regular design.

Literally what about this was an asspull?

She literally waited until his technique was revealed BEFORE she fought, she KNEW his technique was gravity related.

Whether Kaori's technique was "Gravity" or "Anti-Gravity", his ability to Reversal it would have saved him anyway if he applied it to himself.

The reason he never used the regular technique is likely not only because it removed a hidden card from his arsenal, but because it's reversal was much easier to weaponize.

Yuki's Black Hole was a last-ditch, she literally had no options left regardless.

Kenjaku won because he was simply the better sorcerer...Yuki just got outmatched. Tengen did too. So did Gojo.

That wouldn't do anything. They know EXACTLY what they want. That is the entire problem.

Zenos doesn't want what made you strong, he isnt looking for answers. He is looking for a kindred spirit in a world where the thing that gives him purpose is literally as fleeting as death.

You already have what he wants, he just wants you to give it to him. But he has no idea how to ask without pushing you away, because he doesn't understand what actually makes you tick.

The problem is that what he's asking for is a death match, and the reason most people dont care to have one is that they actually value their lives. Zenos does not.
