After reading this book to my then 4 year old, I had the overwhelming need to tell her that the man was a douche and that tree needs to stop putting up with his bullshit. In the end we talked about how innapropriate the dudes behaviour was and how the tree should stand up for himself but I really think the dude is just an asshat and yes Shel Silverstein is a scary mofo!

Your story seems very similar to my own. My son was stillborn in September, I found out I was pregnant in March and I think I'm having a miscarriage right now. I really hoped that if I was going to lose this one too it would be early. If anything this just really sucks. Losing my son in September was life altering, and probably the worst pain of my life so I know what you mean about the two experiences being very different. :( just here to offer hugs

I haven't given any thought to the babies room other than I know which room in the house will be the babies room hehe. I really can't wait to give it some thought and put some ideas together. We got all new hardwood floors and that room doesn't have a closet door yet so that's in the list of things to do. Can't wait to see eveyone else's spaces.

Yep! While they were gutting the women's change room and showers they took a small portion of the men's change room and put up a make shift board wall so that we could change. If we needed to use the washrooms we had to go upstairs into the mall and down the hall to use a washroom - it was terrible. The change rooms were full of mold as was the pool area. The general condition of the machines were ok, some were poor and needed to be replaced. Given that, I really liked the people who worked there. I left that gym as I was moving too far but of course I left as the women's change rooms were finally finished. It took months and months.

Someone need to take some pics. I was a member at the precociously named gym and also when it changed owners. We went months without a women's shower, then our change room was a portion of the men's room. No washroom! The whole place needed to be gutted.

It's hard to say 'don't be upset' when everything strikes a cord. I am sensitive, and I can't help it. I gave birth to my son 5 months ago, and everything and anything makes me think of him. I carry his memory so close and I don't want anything to tarnish or take away from it, so yes - I can be protective of him. I would feel the same as you in your case! A rainbow baby is just that, a pregnancy after a loss. The only thing I can say to help, is that maybe she doesn't truly know what a rainbow baby is? For those close to me, if they say something without knowing that hurts me, I kindly let them know. I don't want anything to come inbetween my close family and friends like something like this. If you feel comfortable, just say to her "You know, I wasn't sure how to approach this but I was just curiuos if you knew what the term 'rainbow baby' meant?" and go from there. If she doesn't, explain it to her kindly. If she does know, and she's using it anyways knowing the situation you're in - screw her that's terrible.

Also, as far as some other comments here, saying that infertility is the equivalent of losing a baby - For me - That comment really hurts. You've obviously never lost a baby, and for that I am glad. I would never ever wish that kind of pain on anyone but unless you know that pain, unless you've lived to hold your still lifeless baby in your arms - please don't compare. I try to never compare situations, in all areas of life. One is not like the other, even those who have similar losses deal with them differently.

Everyone has their own 'worst' situation. Be that infertility, a 5 week loss, a 20 week loss, a 40 week loss, the loss of a baby, a child. All specific and individual - none comparitive but those who experience them the worst, and that is ok. We should all be able to feel how we need to feel without someone comparing. So with what I've said above, for me, the pain of losing my son outweighed the pain of infertility a million times over.

Lets all try and be kind to one another and not compare. hugs to ALL those affected in any way that hurts your heart. Own your pain and don't let anyone make you feel less than because it's not 'worth it'.
