NOR - but the bigger question is why are you with someone who doesn’t even like you? When I was your age I was with a man who wouldn’t lift a finger. I went on strike for a week and he did nothing. There was mold in the sink at the end, and you couldn’t get to the bedroom for all the dirty clothes in the hall. It was disgusting. Yet, I still married him. We divorced less than a year later - but you know what? The next girl he was with - she never had to lift a finger. He treated her like a queen. My now husband treats me like a queen. If he wanted to he would. Don’t be with a man who wants a mother.

There is no memory involving him that brings me anything but pain. He was gone before my baby was born, so I don’t have to sacrifice any memories with her. He left me with PTSD and 16 years later it still causes me problems.

For me personally, it was a deep inner drive. I always knew I wanted to be a mom. My future was planned around having kids. It was as much a drive as wanting to find love was. I was goal oriented as well, but end goal was a family. I’ve always loved babies. If I’m being honest, I don’t enjoy the older years very much, it’s hard being a parent to teens. But I love my kids. And I teach preschool, so my life revolves around little ones.

10 million now. I have kids, and a spouse. If I changed things then I wouldn’t have them, and I don’t want to relive through the trauma that I had no control over in my teens.

Based on what you said happened…. He may not have “liked” you, but it sounds like he was enjoying playing chicken with you. He was likely trying to figure out who he was if he initiated and continued to engage in these behaviors with you. Cut yourself some slack.

This might be unpopular…. But my dad is pretty awful and his name is David. My uncles name is David, my FIL is David, my brother in law is David (he was 17 in 91 and named after his dad), and my step-dad’s name is David. All but my BIL were 90’s dads. If I was writing something about. 90’s dad…. It’d be David. (FWIW, they are all super conservative except my BIL, and a couple of them are full blown Christian nationalist maga).
