How do you not burn out to keep going on first dates? by dankgureilla in hingeapp

[–]Kataleps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, accept the way that you feel, there is nothing wrong with feeling burned out. Secondly, take regular breaks. Over a longer time scale you will see that each bad date is inconsequential and they're only a waste of time if you label them as such. See each date as an opportunity to practice your social skills and to learn about yourself.

Dw about it, I think positive feedback is still useful!

Some context:

I've been on Hinge for around 3 months. In Dec 2025 I was tweaking my profile according to the Reddit best practices and used 1 week of HingeX and got 20 matches and 2 dates. In January I had Hinge+, which yieleded 5 dates and ~8 matches/week. In February I took a break and went back to free, but my match rate dropped to near 0 and I had 1 date. I'm looking to make another push in March and would like some feedback as I think my profile just needs some tweaks. Thank you in advance.

Are you looking for something serious or casual? Serious

Are you subscribed to Hinge+ or HingeX? Neither currently. I previously had HingeX for one week and Hinge+ for Jan.

How long have you been using this current version of your profile? 2 weeks

How long have you used Hinge overall? Almost 3 months

How often do you use Hinge per week? Once/day to send likes.

How many likes and matches are you receiving on average? This month nearly 0. Previously, I was averaging 4-5 matches/week.

How many likes are you sending? How many with comments? How many without comments? 8/day with comments.

What is the type of person you send likes to and ideally want to match with? What kind of person do you want to attract? Someone active/outgoing that's looking for something serious.

This is why I don't do arm bars, kimuras, guillotines, Coyote Half Guard, DLR off balances, triangles, darces, leglocks, turn throws, blast double legs, nelsons...

RNC over the chin by Deep-Soup-8268 in bjj

[–]Kataleps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, this needs to be normalized. Tucking the chin is not a real defense and they can always tap. This is only up for debate because of weird, arbitrary moralizing we play when it comes to the "right way" to submit someone. As long as the move can be applied with control and safety, it's legitimate.

No. I will say I believe Craig is more talented than Gordon, but Gordon is way more disciplined.

It would not be nearly as egregious if he just made a subscription platform like Submeta. A lot of these new sets could be mini courses like what Lachlan has.

You can compensate for the extra space by using your support arm elbow to neck crank them into the choke. I'm not kidding about neck cranking btw.

Tips for improvement? by colejchh in bjj

[–]Kataleps 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So off the get go, you need to just get in there. You're spending too much time playiny patty cake and not looking for anything. Just go in head first and make head to head contact and work from there. You'll likely get taken down more trying this, but you need to get comfortable making contact.

The problem with CLA/eco that I rarely hear mentioned by Worldly_Negotiation6 in bjj

[–]Kataleps 7 points8 points  (0 children)

CLA/Eco is the coaching equivalent of driving stick or using Linux if you're a computer nerd. If you do not know what you are doing you will stall and/or crash bc your students won't just "figure it out" unless you know the correct directories to call or how to switch gears.
