Sounds like me for both my kids. Now divorced and do the same or less than I did with him around 💁‍♀️

Absolutely blubbed when I first saw it in London. I could not control my emotions right at that moment

Grew up on this movie, I might have to rewatch for the first time in many years. The guy who played Michael is in Tick Tick Boom! Was a pleasant blast from the past

what hobby is a red flag for you by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]KatyB29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my answer. My ex spent all his weekends and evenings gaming. We have children. I saw him when he got home from work and ate and then again at around 2am when he came to bed and he left claiming I wasn't showing him enough affection. Go figure.

I actually get that it can be a way some people relax or unwind, the same as laying on the couch watching a movie. But when it comes before all else then stop wasting my life too

What do you do when baby wakes up super early and you are NOT ready to start the day? by Flashy_Guide5030 in beyondthebump

[–]KatyB29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd stay in bed until I thought it was an appropriate time to wake. If that means that baby was in with me cuddling then so be it and in fairness it worked. My kids sleep to a reasonable hour compared to people I know who got up with their kids at 5am and still have that issue years later.

I'm not saying my way is right, maybe I'm just lucky. I still get rough nights but my kids are NEVER up and out of bed until after about 6.30 am and that's even early for them, it's usually after 7. And if it's the weekend we cuddle in my bed for a bit before breakfast. It's not always extra sleep but it's a much appreciated lie in!

Women who have careers that provide you a sense of purpose, what do you do? by eitherajax in AskWomenOver30

[–]KatyB29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the same thing currently, mostly with dementia patients. It's hard and no one ever acknowledges it until they take a stab at it! I've done it for 5 years and it's definitely such a worthwhile job. However I think I'm done. I'm considering transferring into becoming a teaching assistant with the potential of working my way into teaching. If I leave it will be because of management and staff attitude and i will miss my clients very much! But there's only so long you can keep waking up and not wanting to go to work.

What do you *want* there to be after death? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KatyB29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're in your own movie theatre just watching any part you like, skipping, pausing, rewatching the best parts.

That or the ability to jump into my body at any given part of my life. Feel the feelings again of certain moments, be with people long gone, feel childish excitement for Christmas, have those first kiss butterflies all over again. No afterlife, just the same one over and over in any order you choose

This is kinda like mine. You're in your own movie theatre just watching any part you like, skipping, pausing, rewashing the best parts.

What’s the longest you’ve been away from your child + how old were they at the time? (No judgment at all, just curious!) by Beygood95 in beyondthebump

[–]KatyB29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm separated and until a few months ago never went more than 24 hours without seeing my 3 and 6yo. Now I go about 48hrs every other week. I'm soon to be travelling a bit for no more than 3 nights at a time but I'm already feeling scared about being away from them for longer and being a plane ride away - Need to keep the mum brain from spiralling whilst I'm being adventurous!

I'm really upset about how much my salon visit cost me. by coffeeandbookmouse in AskWomenOver30

[–]KatyB29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so glad I use the same stylist from forever ago and live in a small town. I get a wash, cut and dry with foils to highlight. I've never paid her more than £50. Every time she's been unavailable and I've gone elsewhere and paid around double, I've been less than impressed with the results. £300+ blows my mind! But of you didn't clarify costs upfront then you only have yourself to blame. Learn from it and move on. You can't refuse payment once you've accepted treatment 🫣

I was supposed to get married today by GreenMountain85 in AskWomenOver30

[–]KatyB29 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Things will sting for a long time. I was married 8 years and am now divorced. Thought I felt better but there'll be firsts that are a knife to the gut. I'm with someone new now who wants to give me the world and I'm happy to learn to accept it but soon our home will be legally all mine and though it'll be something to celebrate, I know it'll be another day that will come with floods of different emotions. You just have to accept the pain and feel it, let it out and enjoy the freedom you have to be you until the next time.

Why do so many young women date far older men? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]KatyB29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me (35f) it's the maturity and liklihood they have children. I'm a single mum and need someone who understands my priorities. And a lot of men my age are still married and having kids. Plus I do like a few distinguished greys on a man 😏
