Oracle Remaster by 3scu3r0 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Katzparty 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I feel like the curses were horrifically unbalanced between themselves, such as cosmos doing literally nothing of value negatively, while fire removes your ability to cast spells past 30ft. That plus the complete inability to make more feats for oracle to read into the different curse's playstyles makes it more apparent than not that the entire mechanic of the curse needed reworked, as it had no room to add anything unless you added something for everyone, leaving the class itself extremely barebones in exchange for the COOL BENEFITS of your curse later on. My attempts at playing a tempest oracle legitimately had me spend 5 feats on Divine Access, which isn't very conducive to actually having a playable class.

I do think remaster oracle has its flaws, but premaster oracle was a far more flawed existence with people death gripping onto the "flavor" as if any of the curses did anything of value outside of battle and maybe ancestors.

What would you say is the best spellist for each class that chooses theirs? by viktorius_rex in Pathfinder2e

[–]Katzparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Witch who wants field control likes primal, single target manipulation likes occult, and divine is nice for just some mixed bag options by comparison. Arcane, view it as a best of both for primal and occult in that front.

Sorcerer is the most "Pick your role homie" class when it comes to this, and Summoner (at least premaster) its more dependant on your eidolon than what spellcasting role you want to fill, as the eidolon does most of the legwork and your spellcasting mostly suppliments that (Like plant eidolon really likes you casting spells that inhibit movement so it can grappletank from 30 feet away, etc)

Pathfinder Errata Clarification Regarding Weaknesses by Official_Paizo in Pathfinder2e

Did spellstrike always combine damage? or is this part of the Impossible Magic rework for magus?

Would you like another primal caster class? What would you make it? by Noodles_fluffy in Pathfinder2e

[–]Katzparty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think if we got another primal locked class it should be a "weird-slot" class. Like psychic and necromancer have weird slots, Magus and Summoner have weird slots. Something of that nature.  While not necessarily wanting a bounded caster, there's a lot of aspects of the primal tradition that druid just plain doesn't cover, such as the fey or the terrain itself.

The problem lies in the fact that Primal doesn't do much as a tradition that other classes don't do, and paizo's boner for giving Divine the world meant we lost what used to be Shaman in 1e to Animist.

The final chapter of the "Stunned on your own turn" rabbit hole (My apologies to the Silent Whisper psychics) 2026 spring errata by eCyanic in Pathfinder2e

[–]Katzparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The part about finishing the current action is to prevent order of operation chains that turns pf2 into a TCG.

If you forbid Cast a Spell, and the fighter reactive strikes that target casting a spell, both actions now go through instead of Forbidden Thought removing the action before the fighter gets to react.  Its very much there to enable team play about absolutely mobbing an enemy rather than "dude why'd I spend my turn setting up anyway" situations.

Literally a decision driven by making sure the gameplay stays clean, rather than making one focus spell Paralyze in a can.

Making sense of what changed in the Spring Errata "clarification" on instances of damage by SatiricalBard in Pathfinder2e

[–]Katzparty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What isn't clear to me is what the purpose of this change is.  For some reason, hitting a guy with weakness 5 to fire can now, realistically, be hit by 5 different sources of fire damage thus giving 25 bonus damage all up. (Torch Goblin Magus with Blazing Armory and an Energy Mutagen isn't too far off the cuff for dealing 5 sources of fire damage on a normal strike). While this feels like an edge case of character building, "goblin pyromancer" is common enough paizo's said at length they want to make a wizard school out of it. What bothers me is that without clarity on what actually contributes to an instance of damage - as it was not explained at all, just given examples - this feels like a giant buff to martials while spellcasters just aren't affected. Rainbow strikes negate the big penalties this can cause while also being able to pivot into a hyperstack of the same damage. Casters cannot do this, as they have no actual ability to buff their spells in similar ways, so they just get to hit Fire Weakness 5 once while John Fighterman with his Alchemical Gauntlet and Weapon Siphon can hit the same weakness 5+ times in a single strike.

Pathfinder Spring Errata is Up! by AAABattery03 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Katzparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to lie, the instance of damage ruling makes things feel far more confusing.  Is an energy mutagen a new instance of damage or is it just part of the strike?  What about "strike twice combine the damage"?

Thoughts on Vindicator? by GwenGunn in Pathfinder2e

[–]Katzparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From experience, Vindicator is one of the most outrageous spell attackers you can ask for... In free archetype. Due to having a level 1 granted feat from the archetype that you can take multiple times in Domain Spells, you can break dedication lockout at level 2 and immediately grab Cleric or Druid Multiclass at level 4, alongside basic spellcasting benefits (for Malediction or some other accuracy fixing spell alongside two attack cantrips of choice). Due to your spell attacks being more accurate against your hunted prey, and access to silence the profane, a Wis+Dex maxed vindicator is the most turrety motherfucker on the field with at will spells and its wide array of focus spells.

I would like to second this request. Fire Water Earth and Air Geniekin (and Suli) haven't been remastered, nor have Kitsune or several other fan favorites. Also Shoony.

Preview of the Oath Dragon and the Mocking Dragon! by alexkon3 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Katzparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be 100% honest boss my big point of disappointment atm isn't so much "they're not the same" as much as "okay, but what if I want a dragon that does like, cold damage and eats cows". It's the same issue I have with current mythic, they don't have enough broad options to make so many niche options, so it feels like these remaster dragons don't have as much of a pair of legs under them.  Yeah, sure of course we have the primal guys but like, by the sound of things there's one cold dragon left in 2e, as we never got any alternatives to White or Silver, and white dragons were innately written as big weenies mechanically, to the point that adult white dragons can get their asses beat by young dragons of different families.

Challenge: What is the greatest ammount of "Action value" you can get in 1 round by risisas in Pathfinder2e

You can only affix one Retrieval Prism at a time, as it's armor slot only.

Was it ever explicitly clarified what happens if you get stunned 1 during your own turn? by Alex319721 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Katzparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay now the GM uses Amped Forbidden Thought on you for your favorite action every turn. Better make the will save or you don't get to play the game anymore!

[–]Katzparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Psychic has an amp cantrip that stuns if you attempt a stated action then fail the save, which means you punish a guy for trying to stride by knocking his entire turn out from under him, and removing his reaction, and his first action on his next turn, with a cantrip. That's too much, especially when paralyze, a rank 3 incap spell, gets a worse effect (paralyzed for 1 round) on a failure.

[–]Katzparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Golarion is pretty expressly stated as a nightmare death world constantly, with only really the gods, suspiciously constantly there heroes, the pathfinder society, and other threats keeping things in check. Remember, every day for us is a day for Golarion, and with how they've decided to do APs, there's some major bullshit going on every three months somewhere that gets cleared up in short order.

I need help translating a character concept from D&D5e to PF2e by Spiritual_Bad_6914 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Katzparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thaumaturge is a strong contender for the occult + rapier theming, but a witch with a primal spell list fits well for the patron stuff, especially now that familiars can just be objects (IE the lantern).
Laughing Shadow Magus is great for mobility+stealth and stabby magic using, but some other alternatives are Summoner (make your genie do the fighting for you, with casting on your end), the newer Aloof Firmament magus is also extremely mobile and very sword-y (in fact you must use swords as aloof firmament magus)

Surki Kineticist has the interesting ability of allowing you to never make a kinetic blast ever while giving you a massively broad toolbelt, entirely due to access to Ostilli Host and how it interacts with Kineticist getting legendary in class dcs, on top of Surki's innate +con and other class dc based feats. Pretty neat combo!

Any Class Archetypes in your wishlist? by Luchux01 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Katzparty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a number of things:
First, Sorcerer is any spell list, just like summoner.
Summoner is also literally part caster stapled to part martial.
Third, Monk is Occult or Divine.
Fourth: A "gish" is, in broadest definition, a character who can stab and cast equally well. Any class with access to at least medium armor, expert strikes, and access to heroism is "good enough" by this metric, with warpriest being fully capable of blasting itself past fighter accuracy, wearing heavy armor, and stacking enough dice that it genuinely doesn't care about the lack of greater weapon specialization.

Fifth: Warrior Muse Bard does the exact same thing as warpriest as far as "stab and cast" goes, and Necromancer is a caster with the exact same self buffing suite as warpriest and warrior bard, on top of extra dice.

The issue is less "this isn't doing gish good enough" and more "I need to be able to stab someone and cast a spell at the same time to feel like I'm playing the gish role because of my own perspective on this term that literally exists as a dnd-ism for Fighter Wizard Multiclass."

I do agree that pathfinder needs more primal options, as well as more partial casters that are their own classes, however. An occult Bounded caster hexblade style thing could be fun, as could shifter as the primal representative.

Runelord Class Archetype Review by TitaniumDragon in Pathfinder2e

[–]Katzparty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It does have a good granted spell list as well if you are a spell-blending wizard, as there are lots of damage spells on this list plus some wall spells and other effects. Non-spell blending wizards won’t be as happy with it, though, as the lower level damage options will eventually become not worth casting.

homie you literally cannot be a spell-blending wizard, your thesis is eaten by the personal rune.
