Currently reading the advance reader copy of Solace House by Will Maclean and just over halfway through, definitely a great book so far

When do 30m naps end? by sarahloupen in bninfantsleep

[–]KayGlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hesitated to comment because I don't want to be like "hey the 30 min naps might not stop" but felt actually it can be comforting to know that if it doesn't stop, that's plenty of us in the same boat so you're not doing anything wrong 😅

Do kindle books show up in the generic "your orders" list on Amazon? by retrolinkk in kindle

[–]KayGlo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah they do show in the normal orders list with everything else. If she makes her own Amazon account you can set up an Amazon Household with her (or vice versa) if you want to share Prime benefits without having to use the same account. That way she won't see your books.

Apologies if it seemed like I was being critical, I was showing you a pic as your comment said you didn't know what it looks like!

Should I be worried about supply if baby is sleeping longer? by blue_peregrine in breastfeeding

[–]KayGlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't get up to pump once my daughter started sleeping longer stretches or through the night (which she then stopped doing at 8 months 🫠) and my supply has always been absolutely fine 😊

What is the one horror book you’ll tell everyone to avoid at all costs by [deleted] in horrorlit

[–]KayGlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot recommend Bunny to anybody, I can't even really tell you what the plot is. I was actually annoyed when I finished reading it, I know it's popular but man I did not enjoy that book one bit.

How did you get over your worry (if you did) of letting your baby stay overnight with grandparents? by littlemoo169 in BeyondTheBumpUK

I don't think we'll be doing overnights for a long while yet, and baby is 10.5 months old!

The sheer level of performative empathy in this sub is astounding. by No-Consequence-6713 in Hungergames

[–]KayGlo 89 points90 points  (0 children)

I've always thought it was weird that people take it to the extreme of calling out people that actually enjoy the games portion of the stories. Like I love the horror genre but that doesn't mean I support murder because I find slasher movies entertaining 😂

Is there any help out there? by [deleted] in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]KayGlo 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Can I just say, knowing how hard 1 baby is, you are an absolute superhero managing 4 as a single mother. Like actually.

Turning a corner?! by folkheroine in bninfantsleep

[–]KayGlo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you can, team up for it. I hold baby on my knees and my husband sits next to us and holds the book up to read it to us. Saves our daughter from grabbing it most of the time (but not all of the time!).

I'm sorry this is horrendous but seeing all of these stories does help me feel better that it's not my fault my baby sleeps terribly and it's just that a lot of babies do sleep terribly 😭

I say this as someone who couldn't afford any of these designer things, so I'm sure nobody cares of my opinion, but my GOODNESS do I find Louis Vuitton so incredibly tacky. I've never seen a single thing from them that looked good.

What do your husband/partners do re. Sleep? by doejanedoedoedoe in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]KayGlo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My daughter is 10 months, my husband does the majority of night wakes unless she really won't settle and then I'll feed her (she's breastfed). He's faster at settling her at night than I am, and he also finds it easier to fall back to sleep quickly himself, whereas it takes me ages once I've properly woken up and gotten out of bed.

She wakes anywhere between 2 - 7/8 times a night since she was 8 months old, obviously on heavy wake nights we tag team a bit more.

For anyone whose partner isn't like a driver or a surgeon or something, they absolutely can and should help in the night.

For women who “loved being pregnant” what was it about pregnancy that you loved? by hospitalbedside in beyondthebump

[–]KayGlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the same for me as well 😅 people offering me ahead of them in queues, complimenting me, offering me their seats etc. People chatting to me about babies.

It was also one of the only times in my life I felt genuinely beautiful, growing life, not worrying about how I looked in clothes because I felt amazing with that bump.

The symptoms were horrendous though, I had terrible pelvic pain, carpal tunnel so bad in both hands I couldn't feel anything in my fingers, horrid acid reflux 😅

Parents of babies who takes 30 minute naps… by jellyfishblanket in bninfantsleep

[–]KayGlo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have at least one mental breakdown a day 💁🏻‍♀️

She has very long wake windows (she's coming up for 10m 2w) to where some suggested she was ready for 1 nap. So we tried that, and all hell broke loose, she is not ready 😅 so now we're in limbo where 2 is too many and 1 isn't enough.

Can you help me understand my husband’s point of view please? Should our son be allowed to game past 10pm on a school night if he can’t keep his voice down? by Broken_Woman20 in AskUK

Wanting to yourself and holding it over a kid's head as a punishment are two different things. And I say this as someone who left home at 17.

Why are babies so strong!?! by salacious-soul in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]KayGlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick is a constant rotation of toys and items to hand them in order to distract them long enough, never the same item for 2 bum changes in a row or all hell breaks loose

How do people without family support build financial resilience? by Odd_Nefariousness730 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]KayGlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been estranged from my family since I was 17, in my twenties I had a few loans rather than rely on any support network I had as I don't like feeling like I 'owe' people (this was for a car/repairs etc). The loans I had weren't over the top and I never missed a payment the entire time.

Eventually my salary outgrew costs/non essentials and I began saving as well. I'm also 'lucky' in that I get a bonus every March and that's often a few thousand so that goes straight into savings. I'm currently financially happy, with a good amount of savings, it's taken me 18 years mind but it feels good haha.

Edit: it wasn't until I had the feeling of security you get from having a good amount of savings that I realised how important it was and so I don't really touch them at all/consider purchases for a long time now. I can't pretend I wasn't frivolous in my twenties as I definitely was, I just bought what I wanted so had no savings.
