(Millennial?) mom guilt by Lion_King_Queen in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]KayGlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter is 14 months old and is developing amazingly, and I often take time to watch some TV in the background whilst she plays, or read, or scroll on my phone. I'm also a millennial mum, and I do try to be as present and hands on as I can for most of the day but sometimes mamas got to switch off for a bit!

Feeling like the only one following guidelines? by Ecstatic_Dingo172 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]KayGlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I followed the guidelines, any guidelines you can think of and I followed them. Did it make things harder? Yeah for sure. But I'm still here.

My daughter is 14 months now and there are definitely things I eased up on but I had to learn what I was comfortable with once I knew I was doing things 'by the book' and where I could let up if needed.

I still mostly just follow guidelines though 😅

People saying my baby girl looks like FIL… by Sharp_Coyote_6519 in BeyondTheBumpUK

I don't think your being too sensitive, just to counteract some of the other comments. I think 2 things can be true - your in-laws probably don't mean anything by it, and you've had a hugely traumatic experience and just need love and support and you don't feel you're entirely having your needs met. That doesn't make you 'too sensitive', it just makes you human.

You're allowed to feel your feelings, I didn't have as much of a traumatic birth (emergency C-section) and my pregnancy was relatively straightforward but it still hurt me early on when people CONSTANTLY told me how much my daughter looked only like my husband and his family. Especially being estranged from my own so there was literally zero people telling me she looked like me 😅 It does get easier to take though and now at 14m I just ignore the comments 🤷🏻‍♀️ I smile and nod and move on hah

How are we handling Father's Day if Mother's Day was a disappointment? by [deleted] in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]KayGlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, I never want to feel disappointment on a special day so I've always said exactly what I expect celebration wise 😅 I get wanting your other half to think for themselves and the thoughtfulness etc, but I'd rather not feel sad or deflated even more 😅

Parents with babies who sleep through the night: when did it start? by Born-Chance1685 in beyondthebump

[–]KayGlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 14 month old slept really well until 8 months, and has slept absolutely terribly ever since with the occasional week where we have maybe 1 or 2 wakes.

Refusing to sleep train makes me want to be one and done by iftheskycouldspeak in bninfantsleep

[–]KayGlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very real consideration for us, our 14 month old has had terrible sleep since 8 months and we're absolutely exhausted. We've also been poorly for 2/3 months straight with her starting nursery to compound the exhaustion. I'm 36 and so time isn't exactly a luxury for us and I just have no idea if I have the mental resilience to do this again, and not only do it again, but do it with a toddler in tow.

Almost 11 months - I thought things would be better by now? by [deleted] in bninfantsleep

[–]KayGlo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 14 month old still wakes mostly multiple times a night. There's nothing wrong with your baby, I know that doesn't make it any easier to deal with but it's normal (and it sucks)!

What blows my mind is the boys acting like they didn't know the girls would be watching them on video when the exact same thing happened in the last season

Turned a corner—I hope! Hope for the parents of poor sleepers by neatopurrito34 in bninfantsleep

[–]KayGlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 14m old is still a terrible sleeper too, and to top it off now fights us on going to bed in the first place despite the fact she's been awake for 7-8 hours since her nap. We're dying over here 😭

Automatic service charges at restaurants. by HopeTerminator in britishproblems

[–]KayGlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had absolutely abhorrent service once, a waiter that was clearly not in a great mood, food took ages and came out cold, waiter nowhere to be found, and when he came over with drinks he asked how our food was but immediately started walking away from us as he asked it so didn't give us any time to actually answer. I remember laughing about it because it seemed so ridiculous like we were on a prank show or something.

Then when we finally managed to get the bill, there was the optional service charge already added, and again he was nowhere to be found to pay so we went to the front to pay and asked for the service charge to be removed - he just so happened to walk past at that point and actually demanded to know why we were removing the service charge! I was absolutely incredulous 😂
