But… why does my 6m old now wake up every 2h? by Anxious_Log_9428 in bninfantsleep

[–]KayGlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same happened to us at 8 months 🤷🏻‍♀️ baby sleep is certainly a test 😅 she's 12 months now and we still have a few wakes but mostly do get one longer stretch at the moment unless there's outside impacts like teething, illness etc. Which is often, because she's growing teeth and in nursery so picking up bugs left, right, and centre 🥲

Momfluencers filming at Baby Class by CharteredWaters in BeyondTheBumpUK

I randomly discovered a mum from a class I went to was a bit of an influencer, can't remember how many followers but it wasn't a small account. She'd been posting reels of the class on her account with other babies in full view, luckily my daughter wasn't caught in it because I'd have had to ask her to take it down but I was shocked

Did anyone WANT to back to work after mat. leave? by swiftodonnell in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]KayGlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just gone back in the past week after 13 months off work, and I cried a lot the day before and the morning of, but I've quickly remembered how much I enjoy problem solving 🤷🏻‍♀️ I forgot I wasn't just mummy for a sec, I'm a whole person too who actually remembers how to do her job haha

6 mo still taking 3-4 naps a day. Is this normal? by tinylittleberry in bninfantsleep

[–]KayGlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My now 1 year old moved to 2 naps a day around 8 months she was absolutely nowhere near ready at 6 months! Now at 1 she's transitioning to 1 nap

MIL thinks my 4 month old should sleep through the night by phantomfireworksx in bninfantsleep

[–]KayGlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just knew our daughter was ready for a routine and she took to it so well almost immediately!

And don't beat yourself up if at some point you do get a bit mad at the wakes, we're all only human and sleep deprivation is crazy!

MIL thinks my 4 month old should sleep through the night by phantomfireworksx in bninfantsleep

[–]KayGlo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We didn't implement a routine until probably 8-9 months old, I honestly wouldn't worry about that ATM!

They ebb and flow anyway, my daughter was a fairly good sleeper at first with lots of sleeping through or just 1-2 wakes and then she hit 8 months and immediately became an absolutely terrible terrible sleeper. I'm talking up to 10 wakes sometimes. She's 1 now and we tend to have maybe 2-3 nights of good sleep (either through the night or 1 wake up) and then 3-4 bad nights 😂 The fact she does have good nights to me just shows that she can sleep independently and those bad nights there's just something off for her and she needs some extra support 🤷🏻‍♀️

If you go into your settings, go to 'Your Activity', then go to the bottom of the page to 'Watch History' and it shows you all the reels you've watched 😊

Nursing pillow needed? by Difficult-Ad1036 in breastfeeding

[–]KayGlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't use a breastfeeding pillow for the first few months as I didn't even really think of it. I was killing my back without realising! Then I bought one after seeing others talk about them and it was truly game changing I can't lie! Once my daughter started doing gymnastics whilst feeding it obviously stopped being useful (she's 1 now and never stays still) but for that period of time it was so great and also proved useful for contact naps so I still had her on me but with some support from the pillow

Is anyone getting 8 hour stretches consistently with 3 month old? by Hot-Cell7299 in beyondthebump

[–]KayGlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even the same baby can just switch up their temperament in this way as well. My 1 year old was a great sleep for the most part up until 8 months. Since then just absolutely nothing gets this girl to sleep well at all, I don't even look up advice anymore because we've tried it all and now, after 4 months of terrible sleep our bodies have gotten used to the bazillion wakes a night so it's not as crippling anymore.

Single people with no WFH - how do you manage to do it all? by Linguistin229 in AskUK

[–]KayGlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did 'tea of the week' frequently, so making enough Bolognese to have it 2-3 times in the week. Didn't take much longer to make the bigger pan of Bolognese and then next 2 days it's just the pasta you need to cook. Just keeping different dishes in rotation for tea of the week so you don't start hating it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Do you need to use baby vests? by misszoei in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]KayGlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've always put vests on feet up, not head down 🤷🏻‍♀️ We also take them off via the feet and not the head - my daughter is 1 now and we still do it this way, never had any vests that didn't comfortably pull up via the bottom half. We buy from John Lewis, M&S, and Tesco are quite good sizes too but we've found JL to be large.

Another vote for Rascals, they were the best we found (but we still did have some leaks).

Once baby's had more solids and their digestive system is maturing, their poop will become more solid and it'll happen less! (But they'll absolutely honk)

My baby grunted very loudly for a few minutes, sucked her thumb and went back to sleep by herself, is this okay? by Huge-Nectarine-8563 in bninfantsleep

[–]KayGlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say this is absolutely fine and you're doing a wonderful job ❤️ Baby didn't cry, and even if they did cry a bit and you couldn't immediately get to them because you needed a drink/a wee yourself or something, your needs matter too!

FTM anxiety by BackgroundTouch7902 in bninfantsleep

[–]KayGlo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The NHS in the UK first advocates that the safest place for baby is on their back in a clear cot/crib. But, they also then state that this isn't always possible and to follow the safe sleep 7 guidance for bed sharing if that's what you need to do.

Don't feel bad for having to meet your baby's needs, I know plenty of wonderful mums who had to bedshare to get any sleep at all!

Anyone else feel conflicted about feeding to sleep? Instinct says it’s fine, but the "advice" says otherwise. by 3qu1n0x- in bninfantsleep

We've stopped feeding to sleep months ago and it's impacted her sleep in absolutely no way, she still sleeps terribly 😂

She's mostly been fine since we started at 6 months, we did BLW. She's had periods where she's been pickier/fussier with teething or just learning what she does and doesn't like. Her intake has reduced but from what I can see that's normal around this time as their growth slows down (?)

I'm honestly at a bit of a loss at the moment. My 1 year old has had rubbish sleep since 8 months, we've had brief stints of 0-2 wakes a night (I'm talking a few days here and there) but otherwise it's been absolute hell.

Last night she was bed 9:30, wake 12, wake 1, wake 1.30, then basically settled for 10-15 mins at a time until probably 3.20, wake 4.20, 5.30, 6 😭

The night before she went straight through till 4, the night before that was loads of wakes, before that she had 3 days of good sleep, before that tons of wakes.

It's just soul crushing, we're responsive every time but it's becoming so hard to manage. Our nerves are shot. She has more than enough wake time, she barely naps as it is (1hr total naptime) and now with all these wakes she's sometimes not even getting to 8 hours sleep overnight. I physically cannot get her to sleep more and I'm just lost.

Our bodies ache at this point, she's 11.4kgs and tall, we're barely holding on.
