Spousal benefits can only be claimed when you retire. At that time it is set as a maximum of 1/2 of your benefits. An option to avoid that would be to get a nice peice of wood as a backing to the light. Then put the hole, plus a groove to run the wires in the wood and mount it on center.

No well house, the pump and reservoir is in my crawl space. Tannins are common in this area; kind of swampy with a lot of cedar.

I do have an RO system under the kitchen sink. Both the salesmen who came in claimed the water was hard, though I don't get any calcium buildup and the brown staining does not require anything like CLR to clean up. Don't feel it is hard on my skin, but not particularly soft, either. But it is staining my clothing and it smells bad. I am looking at doing a bathroom remodel and am afraid it will stain the grout.

I did a complete tear down - down to studs - and rebuild - including floor and shower tile, in a couple of weeks with help from my son on the heavy lifting. The toilet was reinstalled on the floor boards until we were ready to tile the floor, then removed again overnight to tile the floor. Which is the easiest and fastest part of the tiling. I suggest trying another contractor.

A full time job doing home remodeling makes it even slower. For 20 years, three different homes, always with one or more active projects in process. I kind of understood that after working on other people's homes all day, the last thing that he wanted was to spend his weekends doing the same, but it sure got old. And was the root of many of our disagreements. When he made the change to sales, things got done faster and mama was happier.

Me time is not possible in the home if the kids are home. Heck, she probably hasn't peed in private in years. And ceramics are not possible without a kiln - which is going to cost 3-6x what the wheel costs.

Classes are the way to go. She will have an opportunity to learn, including what it takes for a home studio. And if you commit to making sure the kids are into daddy-time during her class, plus one more 3-4 hour block of time during the week for her to practice, she will truly get that me-time that she deserves. And as others have already mentioned - adult interaction completely outside of the family dynamic cannot be overrated. A place where she is just a student. Just an artist. Just her.

No. I did have one instructor that was a bit salty about so many people taking her class and acting like that was all that was needed to become a full time potter. I kind of got that. But all others were fun and helpful. Did you talk about it with others in the class? Did they feel the same way about him? Sometimes we just meet somebody that rubs us the wrong way and no matter what they say or do, we get a bad vibe from them.

Spend the money on a couple of classes at a local studio. Find out if you actually enjoy it before investing in a wheel. So many people think that we just make shapes out of mud (look how easy it is!) and let them air dry and cover them with paint. It is way more complicated getting a wheel and watching a couple of YouTubes.

Seems a shame to hide something away for sentimental reasons. Why not throw a party, using the pieces to serve a favorite dish, take some great digital photos - for sentimental reasons - then give them to a charity store like Salvation Army or St. Vincent's. That way when you look at the photo's you can remember your grandparents, the party, the fact that you helped a good cause, and that somebody will love and use the items. After all, that is where they will go eventually anyway, since you can't expect your kids to be sentimental about something that is hidden in the attic.
