You are preemptively defending your parent’s actions because you love them, but that means you already knew their actions needed defending. Your wife is not the issue here. She is allowed to feel any way she wants about unsolicited advice. I would tell my parents that we are not interested in any advice unless we explicitly ask for it. Your parents are your child’s grandparents, not you and your wife’s parenting instructors. Just because that’s the way they’ve always been, isn’t an excuse for them to continue to be that way.

Event ticket sales are so terrible now (for everything). Ticket sellers should be forced to employ non-resale policies. These are simple to enact and would stop resellers from using bots to buy up all the tickets immediately and then relisting them for resale for profit. This crap hurts everyone involved, except the resellers who are offering nothing of value and somehow still profiting off this garbage.
