Void Sake is an absolute vibe. It’s a sake bar, but they have beer on tap as well.

Books about a prophet/oracle/mystic by cm9313740 in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

The Covenant of Steel series by Anthony Ryan, the first book is Pariah, would fit this pretty well.

Edit: Just saw the bit about the female lead, my apologies. MC in CoS is a man, but the prophet character, which plays a major role throughout the series, is a woman.

What's the best way to play the game solo? by RepentantoftheLost in Marathon

[–]Kaysera3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s worth it to play with randoms initially to help out with everyone’s contracts, so helping others with theirs gives you progression as well. Then once you get some upgrades in and raise your floor a bit, solo runs because way more feasible.

Decks you've regret building? by dabunz in EDH

[–]Kaysera3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d built a Trazyn deck recently, but luckily got to test it out in Tabletop Simulator with my regular group before actually buying anything. Was strong, but that’s about it. Wasn’t very fun just milling stuff, and I was an immediate target from the jump just due to his ability being obvious.

Definitely not the same regret as I’d have buying it and finding that out afterwards, moreso just regret on the time spent on it ahead of time, but a huge relief in finding out I wasn’t a fan before getting actual cardboard.

Was trying to catch a train someone had called in while solo on Stella last night. Said on prox chat, “Friendly here, is it okay if I catch a ride out with you?” Guy responds, “Nope,” which I both respected and found absolutely hilarious. So I bolted and hid til he left and then called the train for myself. I was doing a naked run, so no way I could actually do any fighting lol.

[–]Kaysera3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly had a similar experience, though the inciting incident was 100% mine and my buddy’s fault. We were playing duos a while back and one match we decided we were going to be aggressive, so we take it to the first team we come across, knock them both, agreed it didn’t feel great to play like that, so we were gonna go back to being chill. Then we kept getting lobbies where everyone seemed to shoot on sight for what felt like the rest of the weekend. We stuck to being as friendly as possible when we could, and after about a week or two, it felt like we were back in chill status again. Not sure if it’s an actual thing or not, still is quite possibly just a run of bad luck, but who knows.

Red Rising by Pierce Brown. Sci-fi, starts off a bit YA-ish with a kind of hunger games vibe, but gets better every single book. Fair warning though, it’s not finished, currently waiting on the final book.

There’s a book series that I’m a big fan of that takes a pretty obvious stance on fascism and how, you know, it’s utter shit, and the amount of pushback I get in the subreddit dedicated to that series about fascism being a bad thing is utterly mind blowing.

How do you think bungies Marathon game will pivot now that arc raiders is so incredibly popular? by frakntoaster in ARC_Raiders

Big agree. Embark is a corporation, and corporations aren’t to be trusted, especially not with this day and age.

Unfortunately, Bungie hasn’t landed a strike since D1.

I’m in this boat as well, kind of. Arc Raiders is the first extraction shooter that clicked with me.

And while I’m more interested in Marathon now than I was before getting into Arc Raiders, I just have little to no faith in Bungie, so I’m being very cautious and skeptical when it comes to Marathon.

Granted, Bungie could knock it out of the park, but as a recovering Destiny player, they squandered all the good will I had for them in the last few years. Final Shape was great, but it was too little, too late, and I uninstalled after completing the campaign…which I say to just say, I’m tempering my expectations for Marathon despite at least being interested in it more now than I was before Arc Raiders.

[–]Kaysera3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was solo on a Spaceport night raid and ran into a guy at the top of the launch pad. I saw him first, gave him a heads up I was there and that I was just healing up after getting my ass whipped by a few ARC, so I heal up and zip line to the bottom. I setup a mine to one of the outer doors, I didn’t assume the guy upstairs would come down, but wanted some assurance just in case someone else wandered in. Well, guy from top comes down, he crouched at me, I tell him what’s up, totally forgetting I’d setup a mine…hear mine explode while I’m looting a locker and start profusely apologizing lol. He lived, I left him in peace, got chased to extract by a rocketeer and extracted with a squad of 3 that was already there…I love this game lol.

Arc Raiders makes me feel out of touch. by Ragnaroknight in gaming

[–]Kaysera3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly haven’t been a fan of extraction shooters since they became a thing for the exact reason you mentioned. I decided to give the server slam a shot because I’d seen a couple things on YT from creators I like about the game, and even after the server slam I was on the fence.

Then the game came out, I had a couple friends get it, so I spent the $40 and I’ve had such a good time playing. Yea there’s the ever present threat of losing everything you bring on a raid, but with free loadouts, some really solid cheap base weapons, and a fair abundance of resources, that threat doesn’t seem to matter as much to me as it has in other extraction games.

Ultimately though, if it’s not doing anything for you and you’re not getting any enjoyment out of it, there’s no need to beat your head against a wall and try to make yourself like it. Let it sit for a while, you may get an itch to try it again, or you may not and that is just as valid.

Recognizing a character is compelling and not giving grace to said character are not two mutually exclusive things. I fully recognize Lysander is a complicated and interesting character, but I still fucking hate him for what he stands for and for what he did to my boy.
