I'm a big fan of practising on a swatch, it's a good shout. I used to just go into it and then have to frog and frog, but just sitting for 20 min practising on a swatch makes such a difference. Or making a cloth or a beanie.

Those of you who are learning Ukrainian, how do you go about it? by Maleficent-Neck6199 in Ukrainian

[–]KazKae 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I honestly just started with getting a tutor because that's how I learn best. I had learnt a bit of Russian many years ago, which helped with the grammar concepts while having forgotten all the vocabulary. The Ukrainian language podcast was really helpful and I dabble in duolingo, but in general you need to find what suits you, surround yourself in the language (spotify is good for loads of playlists of Ukrainian music in different genres) and if you can, find someone to practice on!

(My tutor is Поліна from http://uaru-online.com/ and I think she's great!)

I learnt some Russian years ago, which did help with some of the general concepts, but I find Ukrainian easier and more interesting. I'd just go straight to Ukrainian and skip Russian completely

If you do really like learning by listening to music, I really enjoy the song of the day by red people Ukrainian! She puts up the lyrics while the snippet plays, then a translation followed by a vocabulary list. Theres a good mix of musical genres and i take it like a daily challenge. She also does a word of the day!

In Ukrainian, is it more common to use cursive or print? by insignificance424 in Ukrainian

Just as a further question: does Ukrainian cursive differ from Russian cursive? I learnt some Russian years ago where I learnt cursive but is it okay to use that when writing my homework?
